sent my Unicump Classuck in today for warranty repair. Cost me $22
>tfw typing on cherry mx switches
Hey you're not me! Razer stopped paying me to shill against cherry switches so you must me doing it for free.
despite switching over to mechs two years ago, I still bottom out. I really only need the NKRO feature for gaymen and no tactile switches are satisfying; I don't like clickies for routine use. is it time to consider switching back to a membrane?
what happened?
You could get heavier linears or use o-rings. Or go the topre route if money doesnt matter to you.
>tfw typing on topre switches
Wait if you don't want to bottom out then why switch to membranes? You have to bottom out on those in order to register a key press
That was me too. Razer paid me extra to shill that day, but then they stopped and went back to the normal rate.
what's the problem with bottoming out? unless it's every single key stroke I'm pretty sure everybody bottoms out occasionally
the issue is I do it anyway, despite my best efforts, not that I don't want to
well if you're gonna bottom out at least get something that feels good to type on and has decent roll over
What did he mean by this?
good luck. The chinks already have a $30 fully programmable macro pad the supports QMK
Need some keycap suggestions for 1.75U, link me some that won't come from China.
Cheers. I'll be glad to have this project finalized, and ten of these out in the wild soon.
Help, just bought my first keyboard and its high as fuck, my wrists are killing me, what can i do?
what switches?
can anyone recommend a 75% or tenkeyless topre keyboard with animated rainbow leds I can stare at when I'm tripping
cherry red, but its not about the switches, its about the height
Float your wrists nigga.
replace it with hyperx alloy fps
>cherry red
Why though...?
& just get a pad
get arm rests and make sure your elbows are higher than your keyboard/mouse
don't fucking do , you do NOT want your anchor point to be your wrist. Always move/rotate your arm before you rotate your wrist, especially on a rest, that shit is a straight trip to arthritis hell
>you do NOT want your anchor point to be your wrist
That's what I said nigga. I'm assuming this guy is placing his wrists on the desk in front of the board, hence "float your wrists".
thanks, i'll try it
got it for 20$
I found the niz micro84: nizkeyboard.com
I think I would want blank caps
thoughts?
How good or bad is the WASD V2
Board itself is fine, just done bother with wasd's keycaps.
whats wrong with the keycaps
they're garbage. Get some nice Cherry profile PBT from aliexpress instead. The quality is 1000x better
They're just standard thin ABS. You can get doubleshots or PBT caps for cheap nowadays instead.
what is the price going to be?
Get something like this:
amzn.com
Or get one of these keyboards instead:
amzn.com
where can i get uv keycaps for ducky one 2? i had uv on my last keyboard, rosewill apollo, and has such a nice feeling. thanks
uv?
Do you mean backlit keycaps, like this:
amzn.com
Or do you mean extra shiny and ghey, like this:
amzn.com
seems alright but that bottom row could be a problem
I have fullsized non-led niz at work. It's very pleasant. I put dsa caps on it.
i mean uv as in uv coating. it kinda gives the key a rubber type of feel without it being too distracting
don't buy from nizkeyboard, buy from here
aliexpress.com
nizkeyboard have a reputation for losing packages or sending them to the wrong address and support being non-existent because they already have your gweilo dollars
That sounds stupid.
These things desperately need the heavier dome sheets from ebay, lube, and better caps (could even get pbt and pom legend shine throughs for real gayman aesthetic).
Bke lights are actually better than topre and can go in a plum but you lose rgb.
Look at YouTube for typing videos of the various ways you can configure those
Or buy realforce rgb
How the fuck do you type fast without bottoming out? Did I land in bizarro world??? Who the fuck only depresses keys halfway haha just stop looking at your keyboard dummy LMAO.
t. 150 WPM typist not entirely shitposting
What are some of the best poorfag caps? Preferably backlit friendly, but without is fine too
Got given a Logitech G512 recently. Having some issues with it though. Every now and then whilst typing it just opens drop down menus and I can't find how to disable it.
Any ideas what it could be?
Anything by tai-hao
most of the keys stopped working one day.
only 10 months of daily use
That horse looks dumb.
nice
buy a new mousepad you fucking cocksucker
25 USD or less. Though they're not for sale to the general public yet, there's currently a production run of ten units for a closed group of customers. Some time after that, once things are optimized and I've learned what there will be to learn I'll take this to reddit and geekhack and see if people there are interested.
that's odd
I'm using my 2008 model one that I got used right now.
Did you spill something on it?
>FIVE
>R
>O
>W
>S
Literally fucking why
I don't know what you're on about user, that's a standard numpad layout.
Enjoy your accidental discharges
But a sixth row is common on standalone ones and it's quite helpful, nor is there any reason to omit it. If your desk can fit an external numpad in the first place, it can certainly fit the four extra keys at the top.
But then it won't match my smol keyboards
because there's no 5 row numpads on the market to match 60 or 65% keyboards, if you want 6 rows go buy literally any other numpad
thoughts on the model 01?
>buy a keyboard without numpad
>get an extra numpad
??? What's the logic behind that?
being able to move the two around separately to suit your desk
or because 5-row keyboards with arrows and a numpad are almost nonexistent for some reason, so 65%+separate numpad is much more attainable
Complete nonsense, dude.
first mechanical keyboard. dont wanna spend too much.
is this ok?
>amazon.com
Is this a new version of keyboardio?
it's the original model 01 with soon-to-come keycaps
Gateron brown and MX speed are under rated
Honestly I feel like keyboardio is overpriced from the point of view of typing quality. If you like the wooden aesthetic and plug and play aspect (as opposed to assembling your own Ergodox or Dactyl) only then it could be worth it.
The most interesting aspect are the custom thumb keycaps, but I feel like that's undermined by the less optimal thumb cluster. The palm key is a good idea, though, assuming they're using a sufficiently heavy and tactile switch to prevent accidental presses.
>MX speed
cause they are basically orientated to gaymers. The short travel feels terrible.
>Gateron brown
They are better than mx browns, but that is not saying much.
the main reason I am looking at it is the programmable rgbs... there is a modified ergodox board that supports this but it is just as expensive & requires assembly
not a big fan of the wood case. I'll probably paint it
I am really interested in the matias quiet click switches. they are indeed heavy and tactile. I've been happy with my poker ii's cherry blues for about 5 years but I want to try something new and quieter
>beautiful keys
>never touch it with greasy fingers and shine the caps
Why doesn't everyone do this?
wtf do we use then, anons?
Alps
buckling springs
Alps switches, unlike the Cherry disabled woman or Topre plunger, typing on Alps tactiles is a lot like sex. You push in, it resists at first, then gives in and you rush forward until you hit the end. And damn does it feel good.
What keyboard that is still in production today can I purchase with alps?
um, sweaty . . .
KBP V60
>KBP V60
Anything that would be typical 75% (sans numpad, but with F-keys that don't require Fn layering? I see matias has the quiet click mini, which would be fine for me, except it's disgusting gloss.
Also what about availability of aftermarket keycaps, since these don't have cherry stems...
ie not shitty abs
About to begin typing a thesis.
Lots of vim, tikZ diagrams and backslashes.
/Topre/ or /mx blue/?
Brown are too light, clear too rares and black are for gayming with fat fingers
Matias is disgusting. Luckily original simplified Alps switches are still made and can be found on the KBP V60 and V80
There are several options now for ALPS keycaps from Matias to Tai-hao to SP
just get clears. they aren't rare and almost every mid range brand now has them
if you can afford it, go for topre
Probably will get a topre and give it to my son in 20 years.
>This is what daddy used to use back then.
He probably won't give a fuck tho
Don't fall for the toilet plunger membrane or rattle plastic memes. Just build a cheap ass board with some heavenly switches and basic keycaps if you intend to type a lot.
>Clears
>rare
the fuck? They are not that rare.
What exactly are you looking for? Tactiles? Linears?
How the fuck do you guys use arrow keys on a 60%?
Short travel is fine and early activation is nice. In addition they seem to be more heavily lubed than any other stock linear I've tried.
stop listening to larpers that are probably typing on a macbook/thinkpad and make up your mind for yourself based on your own preferences
>You push in, it resists at first, then gives in and you rush forward until you hit the end. And damn does it feel good.
you literally just described topre
>lube
actually the kalih box uses way more lube.
>Short travel is fine and early activation is nice
Nah
>mfw that shit manga got an anime

Who the fuck would buy this.
Wooting Flartech laser switches
do you use vim or emacs?
topre doesn't age well given that the rubber stiffens over time, it doesn't really change much apart from feel since they're capacitive switches but people have noted that their 10+ year old hhkb's are stiffer than new in box models they just bought
but then again you can make the same argument for mechanical switches since the lube will have dried and gunked up over 10 years
vim, but are u seriously expected me to use HJKL for everything?
you get a 60% with dedicated arrow keys
>topre doesn't age well given that the rubber stiffens
>He doesn't know the ancient secret of why people buy topre boards
>Who the fuck would buy this.
Try typing on some nice Hall effect switches or even vintage MX blacks
I have a topre my dude but not a 10 year old one
