Job woes

>graduate
>try and apply for places
>"Um, sorry user, you just don't have enough experience"
>two years have passed of trying to get a job, going to fairs, meetups, networking
>each time I get a response
>"Um sorry user, you've been out of school so long, why havent you worked yet?"
i guess it's time to kill myself huh

>i guess it's time to kill myself huh
Yep.

That's why you start working before graduating.

>don't graduate
>friend tells me they need a c++ programmer
>apply
>"user, do you know C++?"
>"I guesss?"
>"Okay, when can you start?"
>"Uh, next week maybe?"

And that's how I got my first shitty job.

Did you really expect to get a job with a piece of paper and no experience. You know this is why internships exist, right? Go apply to them now when you should have before you graduated, you mong.

>He graduated without doing a Co-Op.
>He didn't get at least 1 year of real world experience
>He didn't have academic and professional references when he graduated

Become a CNC machinist

that's why you don't go to college

I always laugh at CS tards on this board. You did unpaid work for a fucking year? Are you joking? How cucked are you faggots. Keep technology as a hobby, incel fucks.

>unpaid work
Wat?

Unpaid internshits

No, that's why you only invest in something you know how to use. It's like buying an OP-1 synthesizer when you don't even know how to play the piano. That being said, over 50% of those enrolled in college shouldn't be there, they're better off working in mcdonalds all of their lives instead of doing that AND having 100-200K loan that you can't make go away with a bankruptcy.

It was shitty, yes. Not unpaid.

>unpaid
Educate yourself, user.

How else are you going to stand out? Most applying for 100K+ programming jobs don't have any experience either.

Why not freelance until you get a good gig?

Freelance is dominated by pajeets and slavs.

Keep working at unpaid internships code monkey. How the fuck can you autists enjoy sitting behind a fucking cubicle all day with no pay from 9 to 5 for 40 years? Jesus...

You only need to do them before you graduate to entire employers to hire you more.

What the hell kind of schools are you guys attending? I was an engineering major but CS majors also did Cooperative Education and Internships. They paid very well. The only people who didn't work in industry were those going into research. Maybe industry work isn't emphasized at other schools.

Maybe it is different for CS students a liberal art colleges (not engineering universities). It is weird hearing people graduating with no experience (and complaining).

Yeah my CS program had a capstone where they literally GIVE you a local client and make you intern for them for a year on a project. How can you walk away from that and not have enough experience for a job? Did other schools not do this?

The only people who do unpaid internships are liberal arts and possibly business fags. Anyone doing an unpaid internship in STEM is a flaming retard.

It is really common in southern europe to have internships be unpaid, it isn't like the US at all where you generally expect to be paid. It is a huge scam.

Just pretend to be from india and they'll just hire you.

>my father owns a company and bought a building
>i called the isp and plugged in the router

>SysAdmin: 7 years

Right except we're talking about normal people countries, not commie land

No, user. Do us all a favour and kill the hiring managers and recruiters instead. Be the hero we deserve.

>needing 1-2 years experience before you can get your first job is reasonable

Honestly it's no wonder there's a developer "shortage" when nobody in the industry wants to hire entry level.

on that note, why don't you just shoot up the banks. Now, I'm not talking about the branch with the tellers or whatever, I'm talking about one of the buildings with the REAL bankers. The ones running the bank. You might have to shoot a guard to get in but the security is way lower than people think.

Just think about how they've fucked over the world many times over, and profit off human suffering. Go for the high score! And have fun :D

Honestly this, even if it's unpaid just finish uni a year earlier and get a fucking job.

>first year of compsci
>decide to settle for a bachelor's degree
>will take certifications instead of a master's degree
>wants to work 5 hours a day and eventually on saturdays too
>reason being that I want to start a family and have time for them
>maybe I'll never have one but I still want to consider the hypothesis
Is there any chance for me? I prefer doing SysAdmin stuff to programming, and I hate web and mobile development

Same position as you OP except I've been out for 3 years, and the worst part is that I've forgotten a lot of shit as far as programming goes.

I'm thinking of doing some freelancing in software testing/QA, will that help or not?

>commie land
I thing you got confused by northern europe

Yes do the DevOps meme because it pays more

It also drains you of your soul

Exact same boat, OP, except it was a decade ago. "There will never be a shortage of jobs for engineers", they said. And I did start looking before graduating. All those years of training and a high IQ (yeah yeah, whatever) going completely to waste.

It's not really my cup of tea, but if I find a 25/30 hours/week DevOps job, I might as well consider the idea

Any other idea? I was considering becoming an high school teacher, but in my country they require a master's degree, although they're changing a lot a stuff and they may change this. This would be my favourite choice because I like teaching stuff

What do you do now?
