Yeah, after ARM finally kills off x86 for good.
6 of the 9 computers/servers in my house are running sandy bridge. 4 of them are on 24/7. Good on performance, good on power usage, low cost. To me anyway it’s the best value on the market in either consumer or Xeon form.
Maybe when hell freezes over.

But when hell freezes over we can overclock our 2500k even more.
the issue will be finding motherboards
I still use a 2500k at 4.6Ghz
I can probably take it up to 5ghz but I would need a stronger cooler.
Got a 3770 paired up with a 1050ti. Werks great.
I just upgraded from a 2500k to an 8700k and it was the best decision I've ever made PC wise. Every game runs smooth now, no more choppy gameplay. My 2500k was holding my super clocked 980 Ti back. I couldn't even play Bad Company 2 smoothly. Now I can play BF1 at 100ish FPS and still smooth af.
I think people forget that as technology progressed, better CPUs offer better frame-time for games which will equal smoother gameplay.
Should i upgrade my 4690k to a 4790k or broadwell?
core2 isnt
so basically
fuck you
What was your 2500k overclocked to
4.5ghz
But overclocking it to 5.0 isn't going to add much or fix any issues. My 8700k is at 5.1ghz on air atm.
waiting for mine to die so I can upgrade
In the last month I put together a 2500k, Z68, 8 gb, and 960 for about 230$ US to test cooling. Its really good at modern web pages because of the single core thing. Also Asrock BIOS is retarded and ramps current independent of settings but its definitely serving its purpose - lovely example of thermal runaway on the VRMs with overclocking. The only crashes I've had have been TCPU limits or underclocking, haven't even pushed it partly due cooling which is another matter. I have a suspicion a lot of people bought overclockable stuff back in the day and never ran anything but the defaults - my results are like those posted in 2011.
Thats because you had a 4 core 4 Thread cpu, the 2600 is 4/8
Regardless, the frame-times are better on the 8700k. And is 30+fps gain not worth upgrading?
Wow finally a Youtuber who's not a complete retard and runs his CPU benchmarks in low graphic settings.
Most sandy bridge platforms dont have USB3 which is a bit of a downer
Ivy bridge however is pretty viable
implying that frozen hell will actually let you overclock an intel cpu
It was obsolete when ivy bridge came out. Intel proudly announced that there was a 20% improvement over Sandy Bridge, and then the one after ivy bridge was 20% better than that. And it's been that way for like 6 generations of CPUs.
The only alternative is that intel is full of shit and that can't be for such a righteous godly Jewish company.
my laptop has a sandy bridge i7-2670qm. Not the best but it's been better than all of the laptops we've had around here for a long time. Coffee lake probably did it though
Sandy Vagina doesn't support AVX2, it's obsolete as more and more games uses AVX2 and simply don't run on Sandy Vagina
Don't be left in the cold, buy 9900K for best performance with 8 cores 16 threads of pure power & performance
That's because of the ULV meme that took over laptops since Haswell
>tfw ivy bridge
Spectre/meltdown made my shit uncomforably slow.
My 4.2 6c12t westmere xeon was hit hard, having slow shitty ram that won't overclock for shit doesn't help either.
>Sandy Vagina doesn't support AVX2
Are u retarded?
avx is shit
if only there were separate expansion cards specifically for vectors....
>buy 9900k
well darn, i bit
>the pic
is it merchant?
Open CPU-Z and notice it only shows AVX, not AVX2.
>t.2700K
You're the one that's retarded if you can't tell Sandy Vag only supports AVX and not AVX2
>i7 2600k overclocked vs i7 8700k underclocked
Of course not when you run your system like some kind of waterfall dribbler
I'll upgrade when we pass the 6GHz mark on air non housefire mode.
Until then, i'll be perfectly happy living in the past with my Sandy Bridge.
Never forget to Wait(™)
A 4.5Ghz 3930k is still pretty decent but you sure as fuck don't know it because people would stop comparing 4-core SB to 6 core everything else.
3930k @ 4.3GHz here since I've got a chinky gigabyte motherboard that sucks massive cock, it works pretty nicely besides the 200w tdp at this clockspeed
I'll take "what are frametimes" for $you're retarded
>68109222
>INTEL IS OVERPRICED :(((((
>people can still use a CPU from 2011 without having any performance issues
Why do people hate intel again?
yes when game engines finally start taking advantage of many cores
Yes: when Ivy Bridge is released.
Not a bid deal, since USB3 PCIe cards are cheap as fuck and plentiful
ULV is great. Get a desktop for all your high voltage computing memes
isn't this that Seppuku game?
in fairness, 4.3 is a super conservative overclock for a 2600k.
Mines a pretty appalling chip in terms of quality and it still hits 4.5 no problem and would do 4.8 if i was willing to do stupid volts.
Nobody would claim the 8700k isn't the faster chip, but for most people with a 2600k we're not really at the stage where an upgrade would make sense, particularly if we're using 60 or 75hz screens.
Boat I’m in at the moment. 2600k still going strong. Want to upgrade my old gpu 660 but probably not worth it unless I upgrade mobo and cpu too
>all settings on low or medium
hows a 2600k compare to an FX-8350?
...
I have a 2600k as well on 4.5 Ghz. Upgraded to a 1080 Ti during the RTX hype when it was cheap and I get almost same FPS numbers reviewers got with 7700k at 1440p amd 4k. Don't fall for the new CPU/mobo meme. See pic related.
