You realize Microsoft is shipping Windows to every fucking things that exists, right ?
I mean, ad panels, every panel you see in train stations or subway stations, some shitty business in India still running Windows 7 and that has dependencies on Internet Explorer and so on...

Windows is in everything, and it has dependencies on everything. Microsoft doesn't want to upset their customer by cutting their shitty legacy support.
That means that Windows can never evolve past all those dependencies. I don't really get what their plan is with Windows 10, but I think that ultimately, they hope to have every Windows system under Windows 10. And they want every Windows 10 on the latest version.
But that'll take another 10-20 years to get to that. Maybe Gaben will find a way to push the Steam users to Linux in this time frame. Ultimately pushing more and more users to Linux.
Because, yea, if you'd tell me everything that I can do on Windows, I can do on Linux, I'd uninstall Windows on a whim.

It's their aggressive anti-competitive and anti-consumer tactics. They produce garbage and expect everyone to happily eat it up and pay for more. They sell data because "they can do it". When you need a product of theirs, usually it's not the whole product, it's just one part and you'd rather get rid of the rest or replace it, but you often can't.

Specifically with Microsoft it's sad that at some point it would seem like they got their shit together but since they put that nutella eating pajeet in there they did nothing but fuck everything up worse and worse, you know, to "meet standards".

I design and develop software and it is blatantly obvious that MS doesn't test their software or think about UX/Usability in the slightest.

They keep throwing dashboards at the problem in a weird attempt to rationalise information that they failed to rationalise 4, maybe 5 times before giving up and leaving vapourware that nobody wants to use. VSTS, Windows 10, O365 and anything Azure related have horrible usability issues and lack of design consistency that I would expect from free products.

Their latest OS is trash.

Win7 (with Classic Design) and with Office 2007 or 2010 is peak comfy.

Because everything they've produced since windows 7 is unstable garbage rife with telemetry, bugs, and undefined behavior.

They didn't start doing it in win 7 until win 10 was released and they pushed back the telemetry updates to 7. Since you actually have control in 7, you can simply uninstall those specific updates.

There is no real alternative for some, I use Solus for now but if it didnt have the software center and flatpak available I probably would never make the jump

If I had to use the terminal I would just move back to Windows 10 because every time I need something done I use the GUI not the terminal which never works for me due to numerous commands I do not know and google answers are mostly for Ubuntu

Linux is free and all but so is Windows if you dont mind not activating it, and yeah Windows may take a look at some of your data but they deliver a rock solid GUI experience and have the benefit of monopoly ecosystem

Solus is hit and miss but for now it gets the job done, also I may be going a bit too hard on Linux after all there are hundreds of them all trying to be more user friendly and maybe thats the problem
