Well I've been considering making my own condenser mic with a space blanket and a wooden (or FR4 PCB) spacer. Making little shitty switching PSUs is fun, but I might just put rectified mains across it (with a massive resistor of course) because it would be easier (and less noisy). I'm on 240V too, so 340VDC sounds like a fun time.

>it's just solder braid yeah thats chink wick. i unspool it and use a brillo pad on the full length of it when i receive it, to remove the surface oxide them bathe it in chink flux paste (like those fake amtech/mechanic syringes, this stays on there nicely), squeeze excess and respool it. or do as you go/use it, but yeah sucks

there is usually a couple of unpopulated pads/through-holes on them, at least on the ones ive got it has been that way. the position of said pads are not exactly the same on all of them, i have two version of that one "3d sound" shit that have slightly different pcbs and one of those 7.1 ones that has a very different pcb (but functionality is the same for all of them) if you cant see any place ot put the caps in, throw a pic of each side of the pcb on here and ill help

basically yeah, thats the procedure. although the one i got last did not have that pcb layout if you follow the rationale on that post it should be very similar for most "cards" (some have tiny caps on the underside where you need to either add or replace it with a larger cap, etc.)

Are HDD caddies always SATA2 only? I'm wondering since the main SSD/HDD port is SATA3 but no matter what I insert in my caddy, it always operates at SATA2. Not sure if the adapter itself has anything to do with it.
dont sata versions only differ on the controller? If plug is same, that port on your mb is probably setup as a sata2 only (which seems fine since it was for an optical drive)

its not a caddie issue, there is no active circuitry in there (or at least there shouldnt be, only pin "juggling"). the port you are tapping to is only rated sata2 as an aside, make sure you are running sata in ahci mode and that trim is enabled for the ssd. besides that there is nothing else for you to worry about

dayum, chink shit shipped with zto international (zt-express) literally takes a week to arrive so pic related showed up quite quick (use filename to search for this generic shit, listing gone) tip is indeed quite hard, file just skids across it. not the best looking shits (the shinny is retarded but might help clearing the dust) but tip is nicely shaped (not just a cut on a drill bit with an insert, tip flattened a bit to help debris move to out of the way) but im hopping they will work alright and last for some time, havent tested them yet, this weekend i might post a small update on it
