I miss the vista era laptop aesthetic
How the fuck do we live in a time that's worse than 2006-2009???

Attached: cutevistamachine.jpg (1000x1000, 109K)

Computers have been going downhill since they became fashion.

Normalfags ruin everything. They're soulless NPCs who wander through life sucking the joy and happiness out of everything around them.

Attached: 1530976824724.jpg (1024x279, 51K)

>They're soulless NPCs
ironic considering how you're spitting out shitty normalfag memes, kill yourself

I wish there was more variety in laptop design. I love the way Macbooks look and I like how some PCs look, too. But now everyone wants to make Macbook clones and it's very boring.

watch out guize, this one's upset!

I wish we had 90's style T H I C C boxy thinkpads but with modern hardware crammed inside.

Attached: dims.jpg (339x340, 16K)

god that front-mounted cd drive is snazzy

i like modern computer aesthetics, they look really good, thin, light, and classy

Attached: hpspectre.png (573x430, 98K)

and they function like shit
>hurr overheating is a feature now
>we have processors with low tdp now, let's shrink the batteries so battery life stays the same
>let's remove ports too because muh homosexual thinnnn söytop xddxdx

I really don't. Plastic, Bulky, Overheated

Shrinking batteries means less weight and lighter systems.
In 1995 a computer with a NIMh battery that maybe lasted 4 hour sif you were lucky was about the size and weight of a college textbook.

>worse than vista
you clearly never used vista, user

nobody talked about Vista exactly, it's the timeframe.
Nice B8 M8

I wonder what an irl use case for one of these would be, i can only think of imaginary ones

>almost 3 kg
>pentium T4200
>3gb of RAM
>thick as hell
I will never buy a laptop that is over 1 kg. There is no point when I can have a PC and a tablet. Under 1 kg we currently have utter trash with shit keyboards.

Attached: 1536533751623.jpg (953x1282, 110K)

That keyboard looks super comfy.

Construction sites mostly

What are you talking about?

Attached: acer-predator-header-1.jpg (3328x1697, 372K)

What's up with you, Breton trash!

I want laptops to be designed tougher again. Isn't that kind of the point of a laptop? for it to be able to be transported daily and not get fucked in the process?

Are you crazy? It's made to look nice on your desk in post modern house.l

Even a Macbook would make more sense for a use case like that

And I liked it. In 2005 that is.

Attached: 1518772050107.jpg (1524x2032, 750K)

Piece of shit. $20000 for a fucking laptop. Ridiculous..

Make way for the true 20" king~
i own one. it is absolute sex
Attached: images.jpg (400x473, 27K)

FUCK NO
Everything Vista-era was pure and utter trash.
Glossy plastic everywhere, faux chrome, tiny trackpads with funky shapes (rounded corners, sometimes straight up fucking circles), overly glossy screens. And that's design-wise. Hardware-wise it was even worse: cracking hinges, overheating, the fucking Turion 64, goddamn Vista computers shipping with 512MiB of ram and Pentium 4s, BGA failures everywhere, 4800rpm drives which failed prematurely, novidya's bumpgate.
2006-2009 is literally the worst era there has ever been in computing, ever.

we have like 300 of these (getac ultra rugged) used on shop floor applications (industrial manufacturing) and they still come back to the tech department broken

My latitude doesn't look that different, just a bit thinner and more modern.

The keyboards are one of the best parts. I’m DD a hp 6930p and first comment I got on it was that the keyboard is better than modern machine.

Just buy a Thibkpad, if you want the aesthetics + reliability.

Why don't you make your own portable computer case, then? 3D printer can solve some of your problem.

This was my second computer and first tablet, given to me when I started high school. The pinnacle of vista tier laptops. The build quality was absolute shit but I have fond memories of using it, mainly because it meant I didn't have to sneak downstairs at 1am to watch porn.

Attached: dell-art1.jpg (500x366, 54K)

this

laptop not tablet, I need coffee

>npc does what pink wojak did: buy high, sell low
>npc blows all his money on crypto and left with nothing
>system.println("#SmashCapitalism")
>system.println("#WeNeedCommunism")

>big intrusive advertisement above the keyboard staring at you at all times

Yeah, what a cool aesthetic.

Attached: yok.gif (300x228, 323K)

God is horrendous.

this, but business laptops were better. we had ports and upgradeability, not these thin meme machines.

Well, there was the T61, which to this day is the best ThinkPad ever made, mainly because it's the last one designed by IBM. The T61p got hit by Nvidia's bumpgate too, sadly.
My mother uses a fully maxed out Dell Latitude D620 to this day, it has a T7600, 4GiB of ram, an SSD, a rebuilt battery (last generation of Dells you coud do that on), an 802.11ac dual band wireless card and Windows 10. She's never had a single problem with it.

Just get yourself a ThinkPad.

It's pretty fucking similar to yhe ild, good ThinkPad keyboards. Look at the arrow keys.

Nigga, if you think laptops from the mid/late 2000s were were, apart from very few exceptions, were actually good looking or anywhere near the the reliability, battery life, performance, portability you need to throw your rose tinted glasses into the fucking trash.

t. someone who actually used laptops during this time period

Attached: 19762-585x501.jpg (585x501, 62K)

The x230/t430 is still a great machine, but yes, the t61/x61 was the peak.
My father uses an Hp nx7300 with the same specs (unless wifi card and Windows 10), he loves it. The 16:10 ratio is GOAT, the keyboard is great, and I can repaste and clean it with removing the keyboard only.

*blocks you'rear'e path_*s*

Attached: Lenovo-X1.jpg (5760x3840, 832K)

dat mushy keyboard

nooooo but muh nostalgia

I remember wanting that so bad.

Also ignoring it's a HP piece of shit, this was pretty as hell.

Attached: 2699_2_01.jpg (600x510, 43K)

I feel really old...

what do you lads think of this laptop? should i buy one

Attached: lenovo legion.jpg (810x456, 110K)

...

i dont want it just for video games

Then don't buy a gaming laptop.

Best laptop is the HP Elitebook 8740w with dreamcolor display

>muh overheating plastic
>muh everything needs to be gloss shiny plastic
>muh stickers everywhere
>muh bulky light indicators/ports
>muh bulk for extra fans to process see through windows and visuals too ahead for hardware available

absolute shit. Atleast piss light brown shitboxes from 90s/early 00s had taste and aesthetic.

can confirm
t. 8540p owner who wishes it was a 8740w

> buy turbo autist mega expensive laptop
> use photoshop
> two layers
> one is the standard bg
Well, yeah. You clearly need all that power m8.

can we force old memes to return?

It looks like the spacebar is broken, like it's been pushed forward too hard.
Also that ad is really silly and I bet it leaves a really obnoxious glue-residue when you try to pull it off.

>Giant curved screen
>Gayming Mechanical Keyboard
>Edgy Gayming design
>Impractical weight and size for a laptop
It's like the combination of every single fucking meme inside a single machine just for the sake of having it.

I still got an 18.4" asus K95VM as my laptop-looking desktop and it's been covering my needs since 2011

My new laptop at work has a shitty 1366x768 screen, my Vista laptop from 2008 was 1200p

If you enjoy shit cooling and low battery life, sure go for it.
Oh, also Loonix support a half-baked shit.

Late XP era was better.

>using newfag meme while saying this
hypocrisy at it's finest

Late XP era is literally Vista era.
There were computers shipping with XP well until 7 came out.

>iToy filename
You just outted yourself

I'm talking about those with 1600x1200 screens

Well at least they are now making really nice 3:2 screen laptops. The only problem is that they're all 12"
Also the only ones I'm aware of are the apple and the huawei, and they are both ridiculously expensive and built like smartphones.
But at least they are doing something that isn't 16:9. I feel like a chink staring at small 16:9 screens.

Oh I guess that pixel book thing existed too, and surface tablets but those ain't laptops.

That'd be sweet as heck

it was the 16:10 screens and removable batteries

Modern laptops (excluding iShit) don't have removable batteries anymore?

I'm so hard right now wtf

What do you need the shit you already flushed down for?

I want a new laptop. What's a good laptop that could play Overwatch?

>vista
windows vista was never good, faggot.

what's next? a nostalgia thread for windows millennium?

Learn to read, faggot.

This panasonic rz6 form factor is perfect. Shame it's Japan only with a ludicrous price tag for mediocre specs.

>that fucking keyboard

> cracking hinges

This 100% i bought my first laptop new from the store for a stupid amount of money for me at the time. It was an asus and the fucking hinge cracked while it was in its bag.

Boy was i fucking pissed. Unfixable. Literal bone cancer. Never again. My debian macbook air is pure sex

> thin
I fucking hate that.. I don't want to be afraid that if I throw my laptop into my backpack for it to fucking bed / snap by the books and shit.
I enjoy knowing I can toss around my backpack with my thinkpad in it and know everything will be okay
