Open source just means that the source code is available.
Several companies make money with open source software, since the money they make is from providing technical support to open source systems.
"free" software on the other hand, can be argued to be somewhat communist (or coercive), since it uses intellectual property laws to force those that use "free" software in their project to publish the source code.
Open source on the other hand is completely capitalistic, since it's voluntary and has no contradictions with private property and making profit.

Thst's a good thing!

Is being allowed to buy a car, open it up, look at the parts, repair it yourself, and modify it "communist"?

Look how this fat fuck parades himself around as some kind of "enlightened patrician". MacOS is better than Linux. Just face it.

>t. don't know what communism is

That's a really good thing!

Open source definitely isn't, it's just the state of having the source code publicly accessible. "Free Software" is closer but still isn't because optionally redistributing value that is free to make copies of is not at all comparable to forcibly redistributing value that is costly to make copies of.
