Yandex

DDG at home. Work network blocks DDG, so I'm still looking for a decent non-tracking SE for work.
>inb4 work network admins are already tracking me
I know that.

Start Page

startpage

Unironically bookmarks. When I come across something useful I'll save it. I'm working on a tiny program that downloads a page from my exported bookmarks to do some histogram and other sampling of the page to build my own local search index.
But when I'm on the web, I usually use DDG.

Bing for pages
Google for images + research papers

Qwant, has bangs like ddg and works fairly well.

Searx for some things and yandex for image search.

Fucking ticks showing everything I looked at. Nice privacy there.

google. privacy based browsers are memes as they all use metadata from google and bing. you're supporting the botnet either way.

yahoo

Google

yaCy - decentralized, and open source.

searx?

I use Duck Duck Go
Always see people bitch about the results not being as good. Personally, for years now it seems to always find what I want without any issues
I really don't give a shit about image search though so I don't know how it compares

Link? I can't only find the demo portal for documents?

create your own private search engine with yacy frens.

yacy.net/en/index.html
You have to download it, and set up your own "peer"/search engine.
I'd put in on a dedicated box.

This. YaCy's results are excellent

>YaCy's results are excellent
I found out about gamers nexus through yacy.
The old yahoo type search led me straight to them before I knew that they were on youtube.

DDG so far. Idk what people are on about when they say they get bad results. never been an issue for me. I occasionally use !g for images. been thinking about trying searx

>Idk what people are on about when they say they get bad results
For me it's not the results. I just don't use it, because I don't trust ddg.

>DDG
>Has already been caught selling off user info 5+ years ago
People still use this shit?

>Work network blocks DDG
Do you work at Google?

Same. DDG results are usually very good, sometimes use !g for images and !b for porn

searx

DDG is the only sensible choice.
Bang ex social media website owner sells ddg search user info.

Google, nothing to hide :^)

I use DuckDuckGo since the search result have improved tremendously over the year.

bing

lol i use that. probly doesnt do anything since i use chrome but whatever. google gets enough money already. i like fueling some competition in my capitalism.

>2018
>not using our own search engine
ISHYGDDT

Bing on Firefox on Linux.

I use Yandex :3

Privet tovarisch

exclusively use duck duck go. I use to occasionally go back to google to compare results, not any more.

duckduckgo, but not the actual engine itself. i literally only use it because i think bangs are convenient, i.e. typing "!gi something" for google images

Google.
They can't give you any targeted results if you block their cookies and never sign into a google account.

Startpage.

They can still track your IP, device, browser, and build a profile from that information, and they do.

I used Searx but their results are shit so I switched to Qwant.

Google.

>CuckCuckHo
But why?

Because I don't want to give google any more credit. Even though i was using startpage since a million years it is still traffic for jewgle.
Plus the ddg search results are pretty good nowadays

Ive been happy with DDGs results. Not tainted by a big brother algorithm. Reminds me if what Google use to be about 10 years ago

>Enhanced by Yandex
>I-its OK when Mother Russia does it!
Cute

Google with google.com and gstatic.com blocked.

Well, I have to admit that I don't do much research, but competition is always good.

>By yandex
They used to use Google. When did the social media Jew that sells user data switch to yandex?

>When did the social media Jew that sells user data switch to yandex?
They all say that.
Just use Bing.

>Bing
>using amerilard services
>not using Russian Master Race Yandex

>Gabriel Weinberg

>>using amerilard services
user... If you think anyone is at the level of NSA, AWG, BAH, BAE, LM, GD, etc. Then I have a bridge to sell you. GCHQ is probably Mitre level. We run this shit, you stupid search results aren't interesting, you just use a shit search engine that's making money off of you, cuck.

gentoo

I switched to DDG when I installed ubunutu on my laptop. I was happy to see it had built in tools for converting units, definitions, etc.

If you want more search engines check out Mycroft Project
mycroftproject.com/dlstats.html

I've started becoming quite comfortable with DDG. I have even stopped saying "google it" or "googling it" and now say "bang it" or "banging it".

YACY
Have deployed a node, thanks for the tip, looks very interesting.

Are there any public yacy nodes?

>GCHQ is probably Mitre level
What do you mean by that?

I search about 2-3 times a week tops. I have better things to do than that.

source?

searx (or self hosted searx), startpage, qwant

Ecosia

StartPage

every thread one or two anons say something like this and never provide evidence.
use !sp instead of !g (sends you to startpage, which is a google proxy) and !spi instead of !gi for images.

voat.co/v/technology/408069

stoutner.com/category/privacy-browser/

Tracker right on their main page so privacy browser removed it.

Had a few other links can't find and too lazy to do your own research.

basedboy detected

shit I forgot about the stupid filter
S o y boy

google for normal stuff and startpage for things I wouldn't want to explain to someone's face

these links are interesting, thank you for actually following up!
unfortunately none of them are convincing me that my data is being sold. the voat post says a desk.com cookie was unintentionally being set, which was removed when they found out. the privacy-browser blog seems to describe advertisement click tracking, but since i have never seen or clicked an advert, i am quite sure my data has not been collected.

>Data being sold.

Google doesn't sell your data, why not use Google?

it does not respect my privacy

But a USA based service with a track record for breaking their own privacy policy and owned by the co-founder of a literal botnet database - NamesDatabase, respects your privacy?

Get your priorities straight.

i think you're overstating it. track record for breaking their own privacy policy? is that how you describe one unintentional third-party cookie five years ago?

simple character assassinations like "he ran a tracking business in the past" are not convincing.

Five Eyes et al. will compromise any service they choose until their governments decide to rein them in. 2018 is too early to expect any service to be free of agency meddling no matter where it's hosted, and its naive to think otherwise. surveillance capitalism is the thing i am trying to avoid because it is actually possible.

DDG's big selling point over google/bing/yahoo is its privacy focus, they have a business incentive to follow through on it, so yes i believe they respect my privacy.

Why would DDG be blocked?
