systemd

Not a valid reason desu

There is literally nothing wrong with systemd

Because Debian Buster exists.

can't swing your massive gentoo dick around here

Because you are a raging faggot.

I hopped around a lot.
> Ubuntu, Arch, Manjaro, Debian, OpenSusse.
Ended up back at Kubuntu. Just werks™

This and pic related

Attached: f35qdzfy8g1z.png (640x748, 323K)

Because it's shit. Go with a mainstream distro like Debian and stop being an angsty necky

Attached: archsoy.png (800x867, 840K)

this
opensuse and debian also just work retard, I take it you can't search for codecs and modify the apt sources

Isn't arch one of the most popular desktop distros rn?

for basedboys and redditors yes

Vote (for anything besides arch)!
strawpoll.me/16688120

Because gentoo exists, because they have a toxic community, because it uses systemd, because it's bloated in it's base pacstrap install, and did I mention because gentoo exists?

Jow Forums
>don't use arch, use mainstream distro, arch often breaks
also Jow Forums
>INSTALL GENTOO

>I want to make myself feel intellectually superior because of the distro I use
install gentoo
>I want to use my computer for things beside fixing my computer
install debian

gentoo is more mainstream than arch at least l0l

>actually believes this
Are you fucking retarded? Arch installs probably outnumber Gentoo installs by a factor of more than 100 to 1.

>He doesn't know chromeOS is gentoo

Because if u want to be 1337 you better use 1337 tools.
>The hacker known as Jow Forums uses Jow Forumsentoo obv.
>Peak autismus is SOURCE MAGE GNU/Linux.
Arch is mostly known for pic related.

>Compiling Chrome on a Celeron.

I don’t have to give you a reason
I’ll just wait till pacman fucks up your autistic config files, i3gaps breaks, x related shit breaks, etc.. until you switch to a more reasonable distro

/thread

LTS is dope

yeah but if I told OP to use stretch he would whine about not having the bleeding edge version of everything

stretch is far from bleeding edge, sid is suitable for bleeing edge

>need to add ton off third party repos or build from source because no AUR
lel, no thinks

yeah
I personally use Buster, because I like new packages but I don't mind them being a week or so old

you know not all repos are as sparse as Arch's
I understand your devs rely on the AUR to offer you software but most everything is in the official debian repo

Attached: hellobait.jpg (619x619, 17K)

What's an arch Jow Forumsuys

Debian repos are full of useless shit, for anything useful I need to add third party repo or to compile from source.
Having central repo for unofficial packages is God like.
fucking AURlets

>go with twenty year old packages and reinstall everything every release
I hear you guys got Emacs 2.1 this year, finally.

>t. has never actually used debian
having unaudited user submitted packages is absolute cancer and you know it

I tried. I know what I'm talking about.
I use:
Chromium with VAAPI patch, nothing similar to Debian, either try to use Ubuntu PPA or compile from source (good like with that)
xkblayout-state, not in repo, need to compile from source
pa-mixer, not in repo, need to compile from source
emojione font, not in repo, need to manually download and install
monaco font, not in repo, need to manually download and install
Insomnia, VS Code, need to add 3rd party repos
freetype2 with ultimate5 patchset, so I don't kill myself because of shit font rendering in anno domini 2018, again you need to rely on tutorials and forum posts to patch and compile freetype2 and/or fontconfig to have decent font rendering.
I used VMware Workstation in the past, also need to manually download and install.
etc

Only completely retarded person can use Debian

imagine thinking you can trust AUR.
If something is not in the literally 45000 packages debian repositories then it's obscure and you should compile yourself

>doesn't know how to compile from source
>Only completely retarded person can use Debian
what did he mean by this?

lads I'm currently using debian

What advantages does arch have over it?

You can view PKGBUILD before installing idiot

>he manually checks if there is update
>go through whole manual compilation process again
you can't make this shit up

Use Arch for a 2 weeks and try going back to Debian
pro tip: you wont

this is really weird because I used arch as my first distro and now I'm on debian feeling comfy as fuck

not a great pitch there lad

Exactly this, also Debian Testing is crap and breaks (my Arch installs never had any issue), Debian package maintainers don't give a fuck about bugs in testing or unstable.
Only Debian Stable is good, but is only useful for servers, the software is too old for doing real work.
Arch just werks, all the needed packages are on repos and AUR is great and safe (as you can check the PKGBUILD and edit them)

This is why.

I think you shouldn't be in tech if all you care about the dumb ass GNU/Linux """""template""""" you use, it's all the fucking same in the end. So just shut the fuck up and do something useful with your life and stop giving a shit about some anonymous teenage tech lords acting like sugar water with food colouring will prevent them from dying sad and alone like the rest of us.

Do you count Ubuntu user as Debian user faggot?

TeenageEdgeLord/OneHundeeTwo

Meanwhile, I need to compile some packages from the AUR and still don't know why people love it so much.

>5 quotes
What the fuck is this wizardry?

>gentoo
New update and all weekend is gone.
No thank you.

you shouldn't. you should just stop talking about it 24/7

The whole distro wars thing is a meme to be honest. The distro you should use is the one you run right now and works for you. Here's a good video on this topic youtube.com/watch?v=3zpgQpdy_fI

fuck off luke

Use Artix

There isn't any reason unless you need a more stable distro for work or something

Arch is perfectly stable nigger

>muh non-free

Attached: last-moments.jpg (300x300, 15K)

because manjaro exists.
or just grow up and ditch the MUH ELIT KLUB and get a relevant distro like neon or ?ubuntu

systemd is here to stay. deal with it.
>i hate systemd so much i made a website to promote my autistic hatred for it

Attached: 1500485657612.gif (294x212, 1.84M)

yes install fedora.

None of those is a real reason. Systemd is free software that works. The moment it stops being free or stops working I will ditch in favor of something like OpenRC.

if u care about stability, use debian lmao. gentoo is for people who want to customize their system. if u dont have time for that, just use windows

gentoo is as "stable" as debian if not more (depending on how much you stretch that buzzword)

it is a buzzword and i agree gentoo is as stable as debian. i think the better way to phrase what i meant is "how much time you need to put in to get a better system". you need to put in time into gentoo for it to reach its potential. if you don't want to, debian is a better choice.

This is a popular misconception. Most people just pick a distro that works for them and move on with their life. The number one rule about using arch though is to talk about it constantly. A loud minority will always appear larger that it really is.

When one refers to Debian 'stable', one is referring to the branch of that distribution that receives and installs bugfixes and security updates only. This is in complete contrast to Gentoo, which is pretty much on the bleeding edge, and not stable in the least.

systemd fanboys/nsa fags

This but with Arch since I'm not retarded.

My friend uses arch and he studies IT
He has asperger though

Install Gentoo.

>run rm -rf /
>brick motherboard
sasuga systemd

>x related shit breaks
I have been running the same install of Arch for 3 years and not once has X11 ever broken, that's a meme

You shouldn't stop!! Also I love KDE!!

Attached: Screenshot_20181022_051617.png (1600x900, 898K)

so you can get a life and stop wasting it trying to fix your system all the time.
honestly, just use debian. comfy, easy to install & uses free software unless otherwise told to. plus it isn't sponsored by amazon unlike *some* other debian-based os's...

>stop wasting it trying to fix your system all the time
Arch doesn't break, this is a meme. It's a remarkably stable distro.

Install Gentoo.
