Tbh google cardboard is ONLY good for porn (and some cool vr videos on youtube too I guess). It's not very suitable for proper games because that needs 90 or 120fps to not make you sick. I'm pretty satisfied with my PSVR actually, Rez Infinite is an amazing experience. The only problem is that VR is still quite demanding. Specifically made for vr arcadey games like Rez etc. look amazing, but stuff like realistic looking racing games look a bit PS2 era in terms of graphics, it still doesn't get that much better with a PS4 pro desu because the resolution isn't amazing. Other headsets also don't have amazing resolutions yet. You might think 1080p is pretty okay, but it's stretched out to the outer parts of your fov too, so it's more like looking at 480p or so... So far away objects just look like a bunch of pixels. But the well made games are amazing, and with video the pixels aren't as bad.

And yeah more powerful systems than the PS4 can probably do a much better job (supersampling and stuff) but you're looking at a pretty damn big investment compared to $300 for the psvr. Also apparently the psvr is the most comfy.

My phone actually supports it, but it seems that Google is dropping the ball with daydream.

I got one for free with my LG V30. It was interesting for about half an hour. Even with a Quad HD phone screen, the resolution is just too low.

I watch porn in my Rift, and it's freaking amazing, BUT you need pretty high quality video files, like 4K at least. The VR videos on tube sites are crap. That's probably why you get comments like this

Yeah those files add up quick if you get the good stuff. Also the reason why the Oculus Go and Quest are shitty devices. No expandable storage and they're going to charge you $50 for 32 gigs more.

IMO it's not even good for porn. I tried it out, but it's hard not to notice that the dick being sucked looks different from your own. It gives you a sort of creepy "imposter dick" feeling.

and the 5k and 8k headsets lie and are really just same eyeball to pixel res as vive pro just with a wider FOV so they look DVD quality as well.

it will take years until VR looks effectively 1080p quality to your eyes and by then we will be on 5k and 8k monitors and it will still look shit.

basically its fucked carmak said he is going to focus on niche audience now because the mainstream viability is ruined via phones not going highres like they predicted 5years ago.
