To clarify the clearance part, you have to be sponsored for a clearance, so you can't get one unless you need it. If you've never had a clearance before, look for jobs that say "Must be able to obtain and retain a [Top Secret/Secret/DoD/however they want to phrase it] clearance.", and list "[whichever] clearance eligible" on your resume (assuming you have good finances, no criminal background, etc).
