I still don't know what amp to buy for a 2.1 home theater setup
>40-80 WPC @ 8 ohms
>sub pre-out
why is this so hard

amazon.co.uk/Q5-Integrated-Amplifier-Aluminium-Subwoofer/dp/B015ZHZG1K/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540252537&sr=8-4-fkmr0&keywords=smsl m5

#spoonfeeding

that shit only runs at 20 WPC at 8 ohms. Get the fuck out of my face, bitch

You clearly have no clue as to the level of shit you're chatting here. Even if it were 20wpc that would probably be enough, but it's 25wpc RMS into 8ohms. Unless your speakers are low-sensitivity garbage and genuinely run at 8ohms or above at all times that will be plenty loud enough.

God damn I hate all the kids in these threads demanding spoonfeeding.

>wahh it's 25WPC not 20 :^)
not enough for any decent home theater speakers. Don't be retarded.

>Decent home theater
>2.1
Okay kid.

>dude don't buy 5.1 you just need really good stereo setup. Don't even buy a sub.
>2.1 is not good enough for home theater
this place is full of schizos I sweear

Or maybe it's full of people who form their own opinions of things, causing those opinions to differ from person to person :)

yeah I know I'm hiding behind 12 layers of irony too

I honestly am just going to get a used 5.x channel receiver and eventually work up to a 3.1 setup, but I keep reading that surround receivers are worse for stereo music than a dedicated stereo receiver so I was looking for the magical meme stereo only amp that would let me use decent speakers in a 2.0 setup, add a sub eventually, and then satisfy me before getting a full on kevins mom receiver with center, rear, and vertical channels

Well if you don't be a memelord and assume people who know more than you about the topic are wrong and educate yourself a little you might get some actual help.
What you want is an old Marantz receiver (early 2000s). They're cheap, fantastic for music and can be fed any newer codec via the analogue in ports. Excellent DAC/amp components.

>can be fed any newer codec via the analogue in ports.
>Excellent DAC/amp components
seems counter instuitive to me. should I be using the built in DAC from the early 2000's or a separate DAC for that?

The built in DAC does DTS/ProLogic and sounds excellent. If you want to use newer codecs you decode it with something else, such as your PC, and send it in to the analogue in ports. Obviously if you want to use a good external DAC that's up to you.

25 watts per channel is plenty of power for most consumer speakers. A lot of it depends on the manufacturer and how honest with their ratings. I've got an old NAD with 20 WPC that gets just as loud as my Dennon AVR at 80 WPC.

>20 WPC that gets just as loud as my Dennon AVR at 80 WPC.
wouldn't that be dependent on your speaker efficiency?

Of course, speaker sensitivity, listening distance, and a lot of other factors make a difference. My point being, don't get hung up on the WPC number, especially since it's not consistent between different manufacturers.

Trying to remove vocals from a old hentai because the soundtrack is too good, however this is my first time at this sort of thing. Anyone have any advice.

install Gentoo

Explain DAC linearity measurements to me please

What speakers

I bought a USB c to micro USB cable to run my LCX headphone amp from my OP6 phone.

It doesn't work. Just plays my music through the speakers on the phone. Any work around?

The more linear the better.

And to clarify the amp has a built in DAC.

Enable developer mode and change usb options.
OR use 3.5mm jack cable.

If I do use a 3.5 mm cable, won't I be using the inferiour DAC in my phone opposed to the Grace DAC in my LCX?

Thanks mate.

For those playing at home.

Enable Dev mode.
Settings>System>OTB storage on.

Could be the only working option is the other one.

How good are the well known brands nowadays for new receivers/amps (Pioneer, Onkyo, Yamaha, Cambridge, etc)?

If my budget is $300AUD and I want 2 6-8inch passive bookshelf speakers, a subwoofer and a bluetooth amp, what should I get?

buump

get a life sick buypig

sorry i can't here you over my daily sex affairs

Higher end Onkyo and Yammys are still decent. But both companies also make a few pieces of low-end shit also.

Hey, I am looking to buy a pair of tower speakers around 1000€. So far the Nubert nuBox 683 are looking really good, as all reviews I have found praise them to be the best thing you can buy in this price class. Does anyone have experience with Nubert speakers or other suggestions for this price class?

Broke my Fuze+ like a retard.
Should I get a Clip Zip or something more "hi-fi" for a bit more money? I'm not going over 70$

at that price point there's tonnes of options, but if you live in germany you need to give them a shot.
I only know the nupro series (some tiny ones and the a600) but that's really good stuff and the prices are good since you buy directly from the skipping the distributor.

Tossing up what bookshelfs to buy.
I notice you had a few. My choices at the moment are between:
Emit m20's or m10's.
Q Accoustics 3020i.
Elac B6.
And maybe some Polks.

Also any information on self-built Dayton bookshelves or subs?

B6 are shit 3020i are weak

dynaudio is more expensive but probably worth it. imma get some m20 next month to figure them out again, the last time was 3 years ago and i forgot how they sound and i increased my hearing skills by then

disregard polk for hifi, they're nice for movies though

anyone got an inexpensive pair of good but portable speakers for my bedroom? My big-ass setup with Yamaha HS-8's and Saffire audio interface is in my living room, but I want to be able to play music in my bedroom too. Bonus points if I can somehow connect it all without using some gay shit like Sonos. I have a QNAP Nas in the bedroom where my music is stored. I play music in my living room using Swinsian on my Mac. Right now I'm thinking to just put all my shit on an iPod and use a portable set of speakers in the bedroom.

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-10-23 at 13.43.46.png (914x1234, 1.66M)

yeah I live in germany, unfortunately their studio, where you can listen to the speakers, is pretty far away from me. Interestingly they sell the speakers for exactly the same price as amazon, but id still go with buying directly from nubert in that case. Good to hear that you also had positive experiences with nubert.

check out vifa copenhagen and if you can some used one for 200€~

get something used from Quadral on ebay-kleinanzeigen if you can

If I have the option to connect my speakers via hdmi, optical or aux, what do I pick?

LSR305

it's a monitor and more expensive in theory because cables and interface/dac. also static hiss that is not in favor for everyone.

if it is nearfield, than monitor speakers are better most of the time

Attached: 2448475_6.jpg (740x1345, 147K)

Should I look elsewhere for low-end stuff or are they still the best bet?

Not the same guy asking for spoonfeeding on the 2.1 but I have a related question. I'm trying to minimize the number of volume knobs at my desk to just one, and I already have that in the form of a headphone amp. Problem is, I'm also trying to incorporate a 2.1 system as well. Are there cheap amps out there that can just use the line signal from the headphone amp, still controlled by the volume knob there? The closest thing I've found so far is the monoprice unity 100w, but it's not 2.1. I'm really trying to keep it under $100us too, which pretty much rules out a new amp with both headphones and stereo out.

Side note, I am indeed retarded, so please treat me as such.

I have a 290w continuous / 600w peak. 1200w 2 channel amp.
I want to put some speakers on it
If I try to put 4 speakers on channel 1 does the total continuous power have to equal 290? If I go 100w + 100w + 45w + 45w, is that a problem? Should I just go 145w + 145w on channel 1, and then 145w + 145w on channel 2?

More importantly, youd need to match up the impedance. So if each channel can handle a 4ohm speaker, you could alternatively wire up 2x 8ohm speakers to each channel, or 4x 16ohm speakers to each channel. If you try putting 4x 8ohm speakers on one channel, youll have an intel level house fire.

Can I ask why you want 8 speakers for your setup?

Can you just tell us the amp and speakers it makes it easier so we don’t have to fucking guess

I have a pair or pioneer sp bs22's that I used to drive with a Lepai 2020 before it stopped working. I put the speakers away for a while and currently have been driving them with a really shitty old sony system that works fine but is annoying to to use. What's my best option for a sub 50$ receiver (amp?) ? Speakers are used on desktop and close in a small living room. Don't listen at high volumes and really not fussed about sound quality. When I say that I mean that I mainly listen to podcasts and my Koss Portapros, Apple Earbuds, and ATH M50's all sound good enough to me. Would like it if it had an aux input and if there wasn't a light that was constantly on. Cheaper is better.

further questions. Is a 2020A, 2024, or 2020TI what I should be looking at? How much should I value a 5 amp vs 3 amp power supply if I don't listen at high volumes? Is this, ebay.com/itm/SMSL-SA50-50Wx2-TDA7492-Class-D-Amplifier-Power-Adapter-Black/332685565576?epid=2254327519&hash=item4d759ade88:g:qdwAAOSw8mpbIdTh&_sacat=0&_nkw=smsl sa50 &_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xsmsl sa50 .TRS1&LH_TitleDesc=0|0 an appreciable upgrade over the lepais?

You need a OTG cable to deliver the digital audio to your external DAC

Attached: ThisIsAnImageBoard.jpg.jpg (1546x692, 304K)

Alright well I dug out the broken 2020A+. Blue light comes on but nothing goes out to the speakers. Not even a little bit of feedback. No caps look blown. Any ideas what the problem could be ? Is it possible the chip just burnt out?

Hi guys, nooblet question here. I have a 5.1 setup but windows 10 wont recognize it as such. The only thing I can do to prove that 5.1 is properly hooked up is the DTS/Dolby test, which properly identifies all speakers. Any other tests I do fail, as I suspect that windows isn't treating it as 5.1.
When I play 2 channel music, the rear 2 speakers are very quiet. I suspect some sort of virtualization is going on. Ideally the rear 2 speakers would mirror the front 2 speakers in 2 channel mode, but also allow me to play my games & watch movies in proper 5.1

My setup is: PC -> SPDIF -> 5.1 receiver -> 5.1 speakers

Attached: 5.1 halp.png (1256x1049, 527K)

that's a big speaker

what are the best speakers for opera and classical music?

get an onkyo receiver

What are the ideal woofer/tweeter sizes/combos for a 2.1 setup?

Eg: L/R speakers - 5.25 inch woofers + tweeter
Sub: 12 inch

Electrolytic capacitors tend to evaporate after long periods.

for you.

>$349
Fuck that. I want to spend $200 max
8 ohms at 20-150W

Because you're a faggot who doesn't understand what he's buying. Just matching spec sheets and expecting results.

as big as possible for everything your budget can afford

Then how the fuck else do you figure out what to get other than matching spec sheets?

SPDIF only works in surround with DTS audio. No others

so is it worth it to replace all the caps or should I just buy a new one?

Don't know, probably not worth it, you would have to find the parts on mouser, order them, then replace them. Tbh I haven't even touched an electrolytic capacitor since the early 2000s.

By understanding what the fuck an amp is doing, and how your speakers handle power.

How do you wire speakers in serial and parallel? Why would you want to use one or the other?

Just to spoon feed your faggot ass and make you suck my dick

crutchfield.com/p_021AMP100V/AudioSource-AMP100VS.html

Bridge that for 150 Watts@8ohms, parallel wire your speakers to your bridged connection.

Don't turn the volume up.

Since you won’t give me the speaker name I won’t bother to help you nor even tell you why I can’t help you with random manufacture info. You’re an idiot and spamming up the generals with your idiocy. I wanted to help but not anymore.

That's fucked

not him but its due to bandwidth restrictions

Sorry I'm done being an asshole I promise. I don't expect any more spoonfeeding, but to be fair on the rest of Jow Forums the only way to learn something is act like a blithering retard until you're corrected. Unfortunately for you it worked, and I'm genuinely sorry. I'm going to continue to learn more about audio and I'll return with informed questions and contributions

I have a Logitech z623 that's a 2.1 setup with a headphone jack. One volume knob for everything. Under $100.

Smsl ad18

What's the cheapest and best quality 5.1 setup for a smallish room.

ask for build quality™

Not him but, AD18 is good for what it is. It's big, dirty, power that's great for music with fuzz and distortion and doesn't need a lot of definition and clarity because it's meant to be played loud.

The Sabaj A4 is the same thing with a better footprint and no knob.

audiofools baka

compare fidelio x2 to some of the speakers on the same price range like the lsr305 or idk
Are speakers better? Already got the x2

Thanks for the write up. My main focus is going to be on clarity rather than volume, so I suppose I'll need to get a big boy amp.

It's done by people with expendable income to show it off as a status symbol.

the jbl's have a different purpose and cost more money because you want a good interface to go with it. only recommended for nearfield

wharfedale diamond 225 are pretty nice value for 300€ the package has a reasonable amount of bass and the stereo image is stellar. you can't do better than this in my experience for now but i will test more speaker to come by.

the wharfedales are my 300€ top pick for the moment

headphones are headphones and speakers are speakers.

you want headphones to listen to music like this
>(-_-)< and have all the soundstage in your forehead and it will never feel real unless you listen to rare binaural recordings which have been recorded with a 2 mic attached dummy head/ear.

but with speakers you get pic related and a stereo image unfolds in front of you if you carefully adjusted your setup positions and the music you playback creates a physical 3 dimensional sense of space in your presence

Attached: Soundstage Ch2 1285x853.jpg (1285x853, 366K)

That's good to hear about the Wharfedales, as I'm strongly considering buying them. What amp did they tend to pair well with?

anything class-a

i use a 1k€ amp and it works lol.

if you want class-d cuz it's more compact, consider XTZ EDGE A2 for 500€, it's the best you can get.

i have doubts that a chink amp will sound as good as my vintage desu
