Can I program on one 22" dell or do I need 30+" to become a successful programmer?

You can program on 80x25 VGA text display you dingus.

Anyone who uses fancy hardware to program is probably a knownothing faggot who sucks big dog dicks at programming. You can use anything that has a screen, keyboard, and microprocessor to start programming.

t. uses 1280x1024 and 1366x768 displays to get shit done

Anything bigger than 15.5" will be useful. If some old dudes were able to code using 320x240 screens, you can do the same with anything bigger than 1024x768.

Ur doomed.

You don't need a large monitor, you'll just be working with text most of the time. Having a bigger monitor (or multiple monitors) is nice and can help depending on what you're working on, but isn't required.

640x480 as god intended

22" just feels too small to see long lines of code for some reason.

get that one in the pic if you can get it cheap and also an fp2007. that one's 4:3 1600x1200 20"
make sure they have grade-A panels

I have an otherwise nice Asus laptop with an infuriatingly bad 1336x768 TN screen. Worst viewing angles I've ever seen, and like 50:1 contrast and shit colors.

I have both a 32" 1440p, great looking monitor, and a FW900 CRT I've played with in all kinds of resolutions.

Resolution doesn't mean anything with programming. I would probably prefer a laptop with an actually nice screen, doesn't even have to be 1080p + a 1080p 24" monitor, to the 32", for programming

Screen size isnt super important but I'd recommend 2 monitors for that multitasking

Resolution doesn't matter much BUT if you want to use an IDE those use a lot of screen real state and you might want to consider using a larger panel for it.

In my workplace, most developers get 12-14" laptops, but the Windows and Android team always ask for the larger 15" Lenovo T570. Draw your conclusions.

>1280x1024
My nigga

just change music production to programming

use whatever works best for you

Music is gay anyways

music bad
koding good
me smart, we all smart
just not orange man. orange man dumb.

Fuck that you need pic related and a VideoLoca graphics card.

don't even try anywhere below 4k 240hz

You need at least two 32" high-res monitors to get anything done. Three after you pass beginner level.
You wouldn't learn to paint landscapes using spit and a sticky note.

Honestly this is the beauty of programming if you ask me, and why I hate devices or operating systems that limit your ability to do so easily. We wouldn't be where we are today if everything had always been locked-down, can't repair it yourself kind of bullshit. Linux is popular for programming because unlike windows, you don't need an IDE to easily write a quick little toy program.
t. Wishes we were still in the 90's

4k @ 60hz, 32" is what you want.

fuck scrolling.

Something like this?

What a stupid fucking thread

The more money that you spend, the more successful you will be. You have to spend money to make money.

Had a similar one at my previous office. Enjoyed using it. You can get them for cheap used. Gonna buy myself one for working with Photoshop and Illustrator

not, only on ACER VA200WQL can

>not even 144hz
Pathetic.

...

Ultrawide monitors are unironically good for productivity.

>1280x1024
I see you too are a man of culture.

Isn't that the whole point?? Im confused.

I think they're meant for vidya

Resolution matters, not screen size.

enjoy your tiny text

I program with a Swedish 7"

I have a fp2007 as slave and it is dog shit. The resolution may be good but the screen retention and burn-in are big deal breakers.
I'd change it but my employer don't approve it because I also have a Ultrasharp U2312H as master

actual employed programmer here

You definitely need multiple monitors, and they should be at least 24" each. I recommend three: 2 desktop monitors, 1 macbook monitor.

>larger 15"
Anything less than 23" is pleb tier
14-15 laptop's displays are made to show a music player while real work is done on 2nd and 3rd external displays

>she should use her mac display because her mac cant handle 3 external displays
Pleb

that picture....this is why I dont trust or date any woman that wears to much make-up

Only after you have a big ass monitor, a gaming PC, a mech keyboard with fancy keycaps, 1000$+ headphones, sweet monospace fonts, beautiful syntax highlighting colors, use a hipster indentation style style, master vim, own a fidget toy from AliExpress and have successfully installed gentoo can you truly master programming.

If you have long lines of code it's time for a refactoring

you fucking retard you can learn to program anywhere I learnt to program on a 3.5 inch android phone and a texas instruments calculator when i didn't even have a computer

what the fuck???? tell me this is not real please

You'll be fine.
My phone has a better resolution than my laptop. So did my previous phone. And so did the one before that.
t. main machine is a x200

this
I don't think it's necessary to say all that

It is necessary unless you come from muhh "home of the internet" or whatever that shithole site is called, you tranny cock sucking nigger faggot

>I don't think it's necessary to say all that
Cry me a river you stupid fucking redditor. This is Jow Forums. I'd gladly cut your head off and fuck stump for fun, you goddamn normalfaggot.

>Can I program on one 22"
Of course you can.

Stop using java

Screen size is worthless without the resolution to match.

I code apps on a 15’’
Having a large display is only necessary for web or app dev (with split screen or dual)

Otherwise for anything else you can use vim on a 600*400 and you’ll be ok (not optimal tho)

size doesn't matter my friend, but be sure to have two monitors to copy code from google.
>t.Pajeet

13" is enough, unless you're maintaining some legacy code wrote by pajeets and scriptkids.

Look here buddy, I'm just going to tell you straight right now before anyone lies to you.

You're not a real developer unless you have a Macbook.

Look at any single talk or expo or anything, one thing all the successful people have in common is a Macbook.

13" is way too much.
10" is perfect.

Why do all devs I watch on YouTube use Apple?

Successfully baited. Nice work user

That photo is not real.

this, based and redpilled

4k ultrawide 32" and up for java classes

>buy LG ultrawide monitor
>still use 80 column limit
>ADHD goes off when I try to use multiple windows or files instead of full screening my editor

3/4th of my monitor is usually reserved for a dark blue background and nothing else.

Attached: 1537040829352.jpg (720x720, 90K)

>1280x1024
Based. I use 1400x1050 myself

That’s not bad but likely a TN screen. Good for gaymez but bad for text editors.

I would go with something IPS or VA.

Attached: 8F1E4CA1-E279-4A70-9EF0-5CA3EAF1973D.jpg (1108x1540, 434K)

Pic is made by a mad kid who got roasted in the soundcloud comment section for using Vengeance default patches, then quitted music forever

When you are just starting out, your mistakes will be large enough to see on a small monitor. As you get better though your mistakes will get smaller, thus requiring a larger screen in order for you to find them. This is why the best programmers only use 40+ inch tv's as their display

So you're saying monoprice chink shit is better than LG who only make IPS?

You'll need at least:
>2x RTX 2080 (to connect all four monitors)
>4x 4K Monitor (144hz for maximum fps while coding).
That way, you can write a hello world in any language you want, turning youself into the best programmer ever.

How is this shit for a general use/coding monitor, no gaming.

Why

You can program on anything, most people's work flow uses two monitors, one for web searching, tests and another there the text editor/ ide is open.

32 inch 1:1 ratio. 1 monitor
