It only shows the newest video of each channel.
Which is pretty dumb if you're subscribed to channels that upload a lot of videos.

And the occasional video here and there that gets posted in some threads.
So for that I won't open the YouTube app that gives me ads.

The only thing Skytube does not have is an MP4 download quality options and a pop up option. Other than that it's pretty damn good alternative.

mpsyt is the best. Works with youtube-dl and mpv. It has search, download and can create playlists. It's first purpose to play music, but you can set it for video viewing. You can also add some custom options for mpv, so it appears picture-in-picture, for example.
Overall it's good, check it up.

opening a link from e.g. firefox sends it to fullscreen in newpipe. there's no share option there. hitting back from full screen takes it to the home screen instead of the video page

I watch tons of documentaries, and interesting stuff on there when I do something on my other monitor.
Plus YouTube has tons of plays like Shakespeare form bong land, audiobooks and radio plays with are great for walking araund and listening.
