Why systemd is bad cannot be explained in tech illiterate normalfag terms because it's a problem deeper than that.

You can literally explain anything in laymans terms, stop being mad because Ive actually had sex with a woman.

literally or figuratively?

>Somebody explain to me in laymans terms why systemd is bad
It isn't. The people who bitch about it on Jow Forums is afraid because everything they don't understand is a botnet.

The main criticism is that it's doing "too much", but this crowd is diminishing and mostly composed of cat-v and plan 9 niggers anyway. The idea is more or less that you don't want to add that level of complexity to a critical component of the system and that this somehow goes against the infamous and ill-defined UNIX philosophy.

Imagine if someone decided to create a series of parts for a car that won't work without each other for example steering and breaking would stop working if your side mirror cracked. Then they somehow convinced all large car manufacturers to use their retarded parts so it becomes almost impossible to get a car with normal interchangeable parts. And that is only one reason why it sucks

Thank you, anons.

Literally my ex who looks like Maserati the porn star was flopping her Jow Forums size tatas in my face last nite

So what is an alternative to systemd?

Ah ok....so I did understand the gentoowiki stuff about not wanting these millions of lines of code thats hard to go through. But if some did put something undersirable in there, I cant beleive that no one would catch it.

>Jow Forums is afraid because everything they don't understand is a botnet
Very succinct way of describing 95% of their behaviour. Saved.

Are you asking how many initds exist?

The fear of getting unwanted code in there is created and maintained by Jow Forums (the big botnet scare). In reality all this code is reviewed by trusted maintainers, just like any other FOSS project is.

The main (real) criticism is building a complex system with a bunch of dependencies that may go awry if you want to do something out of the ordinary. Personally I think this is absolute bullocks, but there are examples of people wanting to do something relatively simple but not straight forward and ending up fighting with systemd or spending hours upon hours trying to get configurations and dependencies and stuff to work correctly.

But again, I think this is simply because they are mostly unfamiliar with systemd, and the fact that all the major distros have adopted it should be viewed as a certificate of quality.

>spending hours upon hours trying to get configurations and dependencies and stuff to work correctly
Hasn't Linux always been like this, though?

Fuck off Lennart.

That's also a Jow Forums meme desu. Yeah, it's true if you have no idea what you're doing and are just trying random things. I've been using Linux for around 12 years, and the times where I dicked around for ages are long gone.

I guess it will be the same for systemd. Once people get familiar with it, the endless configurations will stop.

you can, here goes: it's bad because it's intended as malice and has been used to kill other foss projects it ''ate''

>has been used to kill other foss projects
By this logic:
>Linux is bad because it killed GNU Hurd
>Mandriva Linux is bad because it killed Mandrake
>EGCS is bad because it ate GCC
>IoTivity is bad because it superseded AllJoyn

>By this logic:
no, because he said he will support them or not make them mandatory but couldn't wait to tell gentoo to switch to sysd too

>he said
Who? Who said what?

>"we explicitly won't support older kernels"
>REEEEE TYRANNY!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEE BOTNET IS COMING FOR US!!!! REEEE
God, you people are insufferable.

You are far more likely to land in this situation without systemd than with systemd.

>fucking women
>putting your dick in another man's sperm

Fucking homesexual.

Thats seriously projecting user

that wasn't the point i was making you cock sucking faggot

You posted a complaint from 2014 about tech that was outdated even back then. I thought Gentoo was supposed to be a bleeding edge rolling release distro.

runit comes with voidlinux
