lubuntu. fast, lean, no bullshit with convoluted menus, and good package support.

Take a look at Linux mint. Shit is simpler than fucking rice. Don't bother looking at distros that require you to configure unless you hate having free time

Just use something stable, apt or rpm based, so it gets out of your way and you can get to work.
