I use DDG for 99% of my daily searches and probably 75% of my development searches. Anytime I don't get what I need I just escalate to jewgle. The funny thing is over the past year or so the google results have almost seemed "worse." As much as I hate them google used to at least give good results, but now I don't know if it's them messing with their algorithms or if they're switching over to machine learning for things and the machines aren't quite up to par yet but it seems like google consistently gives different and sometimes worse results than duckduckgo.

I don't get it, Google and DDG are both botnets hosted in the usa that sell your data. But at least Google gives me relevant results. The DDG jew fucks in the ass and gives me nothing in return.

Even though it's a proxy you still depend on google. You are still giving google traffic. You still don't allow competition to take place.

It's the last search engine that claims to respect privacy that I turn to on my list. I'm a bit wary I would say. But if we put claims of bad integrity aside, it's pretty good.

These help a bit. I suppose people get annoyed when they read a "Nothing to hide, nothing to fear" troll for the 100th time, something most of these threads devolve to. I use startpage, searx.xyz, qwant lite, searchencrypt, findx and after that I resort to DDG and the botnet (if I still haven't found what I'm looking for) like yandex (it's great images).

The problem that this isn't Jow Forums only, I visit HN and reddit everyday and it's the fucking same thing but they aim for one popular thread in HN frontpage and reddit Jow Forumslinux once at least every two weeks, the same bullshit happens in quora where a shill asks things like (is google really spying on me? what are the best privacy tips online?) and then you see the shilled answers designed to make DDG looks like it's the best choice

ddg is just a bing/yahoo proxy. they do a little crawling on their own but its nothing significant.

I use ddg as my daily driver. Its especially useful at work since it has an adult content filter and prioritizes stack over flow searches.
