zathura if you want something minimal and okular if you want it featureful. mupdf if you're the kind of guy who browse /minimal/ generals.
for these kind of stuff a compact layout is actually really comfy. trading buttons for keybindings is a good choice in the long run.

Firefox

Have you tried Bookworm?

What are you looking for in your reader?

okular, you should be running KDE anyway. it is kind of funny that there is no sumatra for linux users.

zoom controls, pgup/down, ctrl+f, double page view, reflowing (for epub), table of contents/page number

I'd really like to use Okular, if it wasn't for some zoom related issue.

and a GUI

Okular.

Cool Reader

PDF.js

pdfgrep

emacs

adobe acrobat pdf reader is good

mupdf is lightweight and alpha as fuck.

Just open your pdfs using your browser. All of them read pdfs.

zathura for pdf, mupdf for epub (don't, epubs suck)

Zathura if you are supreme gentleman
else uninstall Linux and install Windblows

mpv

You suck up the bloat that comes with Calibre and use it. You certainly aren't going to use jack shit if you stay on Jow Forums with these threads.
There's the friendly linux thread for stuff like this OP.

Zathura if you use brain force plus. Xreader if you drink onions.

zathura if you are wm minimalist
okular if you are on kde
atril if you are on any other de

firefox

Everyone forgets xreader.
mpv as a pdf reader? That aint it chief.

>mpv as a pdf reader? That aint it chief.
remember to enable oversampling for that sweet 60 pages per second rendering

Okular, storage is cheap, it's 2018 faggot.

Evince ---> Atril
It is easily the best linux PDF viewer.

Okular ---> qPDFview
Highlighting text is still an issue due to qt retardation.

Calibre is awesome, I prefer reading text reflowed into three narrow vertical columns rather than spread out across the full width of a widescreen.
Yellow text on dark background is e most legible and easiest on my eyes.

Mupdf needs a better frontend and customization.
Sumatrapdf uses it, and does it a lot better.

xpdf

Zathura. Lightweight, simple, and uses vim keybinds.
