Partitioning doesn't matter at all if you're just plugging it in as extra storage.

on chrome does umatrix block background coin-miners? or am i doing it right by having "no coin" extension which does this
Jayden Gomez
How do I set it up so windows notices it then?
Also is there a guide somewhere to help decide where steam installs certain games?

So some chick proved a way to add a secret state to quantum computation for verifiably. Some user said it could be reverse engineered and applied to physical systwms. How?
Evan Scott
Run Disk Management and format and assign it a letter. Steam probably has a setting that lets you place game installs in whatever drive/folder you want.
Zachary Long
Uh can unplug and repluging a raspberry pi zero w kill it? (unpluging via pull out the usb power cord) out?

Why is greedy rather than lazy pattern matching the default in regular expressions?
Matthew Sullivan
Probably not.

retard here. i want to use my tv as a dual monitor to watch movies and stuff. all i need is an hdmi cable, right? are there any minimum hardware requirements for it to work or should i be able to play anything i'm able to on my pc?
>all i need is an hdmi cable, right? Yes, assuming you have a free HDMI port on both your computer and TV. >are there any minimum hardware requirements for it to work or should i be able to play anything i'm able to on my pc? Should be fine for almost anything. The only time the newer spec is needed is for 4K content at higher frame rates.
Hunter Roberts
Plug and play

thanks

So, I wanted to get hip and keep my OS install updated (lubuntu 18.04). Software updater shows me this >ffmpeg codecs for the chromium browser
wtf, I don't have chromium or any sort of that shit. Are these ffmpeg codecs baked right in into the OS? Or the software updater simply wants to push shitware in case I need to turn it off and try it again in 5 years?
Luis Evans
Can somebody explain how a PoS blockchain would fork?
You pick a forger, just a single forger, to create the next block. Where in the fuck is the fork going to happen?
Christopher Foster
Why does sqt start with pedo imgs?
Oliver Baker
Because Jow Forumssqt/ is on Jow Forums
Tyler Hughes
>pedo imgs Disgusting.
I don't know how you could find those cute 2D anime characters so sexual you have thoughts of having sex with them. You're disgusting, and should seek help. I hope you don't see real young girls in a sexual way as well. Hard to imagine you don't, especially if your imagination makes a cartoon sexual. You should seek help. Do society a favor, and just turn yourself in. Sometimes the law forcing you to be away from things like schools is good for society. All pedos should burn. Cut off your dick, save the torment of a precious child from ever happening.

So, I used youtube-dl inside of a termux to get some video but how I can get it outside of termux environment? I try to ls outside but it seems to lack permissions.

Does crystaldiskinfo not scan any secondary hard drive if the first one displays issues? My second hard drive I use for everything except the OS does not get scanned and instead is greyed out while the first one, which is faulty, gets scanned. Does it just stop or something?
Easton Taylor
Ok so I saw how much faster sites are when using umatrix. Thing is, I need it only on 5% of sites I visit and I'd like to have it not do anything at first by default, so the rest of sites I don't need it on aren't broken. How do I do that without installing another browser?
Jeremiah Parker
New to i3, how do people deal with using GUI programs that have a terminal tab and program tab? I end up with a lot of unusable 'process' tabs, currently I just send them to a vacant workspace
Jose Morales
How to filter animefags?
Luis Campbell
You mean you launch gui programs from terminal? There's dmenu for that. Or just launch them with ' &' from terminal.
Anthony Richardson
I do stuff like 'chromium' or 'spotify' to just launch programs from terminal (i3 is terminal only from what i understand), what does dmenu do exactly and what how do I get into using it?
Not him, but also new to i3, thanks. Do you happen to know if there is a way to make an image auto-fill the feh window? Or is there an alternative image viewer that does?
Justin Cruz
Oh adding an ampersand solves this exactly how I wanted it, thanks! I think `feh --scale-down --auto-zoom` does this
Kayden Brown
If it's an SSD and your OS isn't already on an SSD, you'll want to move Windows to it, in which case:
If it isn't, and ya just wanna use it for more storage space, just use Windows Disk Management. (Search in Control Panel, or WindowsKey+R, diskmgmt.msc.) Find drive, format NTFS, mount.
Is it still true that 4K to fullHD downsampling is better than using any AA technology, or was that just a meme?
Kevin Scott
Meme... Might be more efficient though, since you're freeing your GPU from the AA process.
Nathaniel Butler
dmenu is an application launcher, if you look into your ~/.config/i3/config you already have the shortcut: bindsym Mod1+d exec dmenu_run and just need to install it: pacman -S dmenu dmenu is really good because you won't have to switch to the terminal window to launch things and it shows what executables you have in .../bin There are also version with fuzzy selection (eg wanna launch audacity but you typo adacity it will still know what you want) and version with history and/or most often launched programs. On top of that, you can customize dmenu's windows size, color, fonts, font size, etc. I personally use irfanview over wine because feh is a little finnicky bitch to setup and everything else sucks, same for using sumatrapdf
You would if you were upscaling. Plus 4K TV's tend to be large enough that you can still see the pixels, even if you aren't. They don't offer the wide range of AA options the GPU's do (like temporary anti-aliasing and other memee stuff.)
William Garcia
>t. person who writes 10 different bash scripts to launch feh in different folder browsing sorts instead of just using irfanview with wine with disabled caption, status, menu and toolbar
Ryan Nguyen
>temporary anti-aliasing temporal* - auto-correct is clearly not geared towards Dr. Who.
Thomas Martin
can i use spacemacs without x server? i want to use it in a headless vm
Robert Gutierrez
Is it viable to be a programmer that does everything in terminals? I like doing everything in bash using keyboard only because my hands cramp up when I need to use a mouse for longer than 10min or so. I moved from using IDEs to exclusively using Vim and everything else in bash. Are there any crucial things you'd miss as a professional developer?
>yo dawg, I put AA in your AA so you can AA while you AA If you don't understand a question, don't follow up with a question.
Andrew Young
What's the best medium to preserve data for decades? Hard drive? SSD? Flash card/usb? Dvd/bluray?
Andrew Hill
None of those. Optical disks just start peeling even if you store them in a humidity and temperature controlled container, and magnetic storage slowly demagnetizes losing data if it's being unused for several years.
Gabriel Perry
Multiple HDDs and SSDs. Best bet is to encrypt it and send it to someone like backblaze. Let them host it on their storage.
Owen Powell
How much space should I leave empty when I overprovision a 128GB SSD?
Camden Fisher
10% overprovisioning is recommended with all storage sizes. That means 11.7 gigabytes in your case.
Carter Powell
if your video card has two monitor outputs, or you have two video cards, then it will work, simple as that multiple monitors have been around for decades, there's nothing really special about it
Jose Ward
You're dumb, you have no idea what they're even talking about
Adam Cook
SSDs are overprovisioned from the factory now.
Cameron Collins
you can configure umatrix to allow everything by default
Sebastian Sanders
Except that for some reason through all those decades to this day I can't see POST through digital outputs on a TV.
I have no idea why, but an HDMI TV is completely blank until the Windows boot screen. My HDMI monitor works fine.
Nicholas Cook
The SSD I'm using is from 2009.
Bentley Green
>Oh adding an ampersand solves this exactly how I wanted it, thanks! that just makes it a background job, closing the terminal will still kill the gui program (unless you also 'disown' it) you should only run gui programs from the command line in special cases (most notably if you want to view it's stdout while it's running) for normal cases, you want to use a program launcher, such as dmenu
Noah Reed
Give it 10% if you want. Back then they weren't using shitty TLC, but the controllers weren't as good. It's a compromise. Guessing it's a 60GB intel or similar. You should plan on replacing it. Cost has come down a lot in the last 10 years, and the technology is a lot better.
Joseph Barnes
If I will share a PC with Veracrypt with someone, how easy would it be for them to break into my account and find my kinky porn assuming they are a nosy fuck with some understanding of how computers work but a non-admin account?
Ayden Thomas
Didn't realize it was the 128 guy. Same thing applies. You have an early intel/micron drive with MLC. It should last a while, but the speed (latency) won't match the controllers of today. Caps might be weak now. Keep it powered and it should last. Overprovision as you see fit. The more the longer it will last. Back it up none the less.
Julian Thomas
SLC. Sorry, been up a while and drinking.
Jose Morgan
As long as it's not mounted while that someone is using it, you are fine.
Wyatt Jenkins
What's a good LAN messenger and filesharing program for a small office?
Jacob Lopez
Hello guys. I'm pretty bad at coding and can't figure out why this won't print. I'm trying to take the sum of a number read from a file and 7 but i end up with an error saying: TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'int' and 'str'
I forgot to mention that it is Python, if that wasn't obvious.
Easton Gutierrez
Oh it's the asterisk thingie. Thanks.
Anthony Hill
>it's not mounted >it's Clarify what you mean by "it", please.
Matthew Turner
result is a string, and you're trying to mathematically add 7 to a string? atoi result.
Nicholas Ross
A number is a different thing than a string, you need to convert it. Do result = int(f.read())
Jayden Lee
int(result) //will convert the result which is a string to a integer
then sum = result + 7
alternativelly you can use: Sum = sum(int(result),7) or even print(sum(int(result),7))
Easton Brown
The fucking hard drive with your porn storage. If your OS drive is the one that's encrypted by veracrypt you're retarded, because while the computer is turned on it it's not fucking encrypted at all, it's as if you didn't do shit to secure your data.
It's like having a lock on a door that's always wide open.
Matthew Powell
I'm pretty sure I just encrypted everything. It was more against someone just using conboot or "password reset" than any serious safety concern.
Dominic Fisher
I'd like to get Twinview or Xinerama or honestly anything working on Ubuntu 16.04 to be able to play games fullscreen across my multiple monitors with my NVIDIA card. Am I fucked?
Adrian Jackson
How can I check if an .exe has a virus? Virustotal only had one result out of dozens of sources which happened because the .exe was packed or something. What other sites should I upload it too?
Connor Richardson
The drive with your porn. Will it be accessible to the file system while the other user is on the PC
Parker Stewart
Virustotal.com Hybrid-analysis.com
Matthew Collins
thanks for the help guys. I think we are almost there but i got another error saying TypeError: 'int' object is not iterable
filename = "limit.txt" with open(filename, 'r') as f: result = f.read() Sum = sum(int(result), 7) print(Sum)
Brayden Bell
That no, but I also have stuff like links in browsers and such on my system drive.
Connor Edwards
Which Windows? I can bust any admin account on Windows 7 wide open with just the guest account. Can't do the same with 8.1 and 10.
If I install pirated Windows software with Wine on my Ubuntu machine will the viruses and and malware also run on my machine?
Jonathan Howard
You're fucked then. Congrats for pretending to care about privacy and using a fossil of an OS with gaping holes.
Matthew Ramirez
Well I'm not fucked, I can just be a bit of an ass and not share the PC. Or clean up my porn links I guess. Is it really that easy to get into someone's account on 7? And it's not like he would do it if I would find out. In the past I just caught him. TBF he was still a teenage little shit back then.
Adam Garcia
Right, sum expects an iterable, create a list sum([int(result), 7])
If I start nautilus in i3 (ubuntu) my screen gets all fucked up, is that normal?
Leo Sanders
>Is it really that easy to get into someone's account on 7? Yes, but it's even easier to find out whether someone accessed your account since you've been using it last.
In the group policy editor I enabled showing last logon details at the welcome screen. So any time I log in Windows displays the last time the account was used. If it happens to be the same time you know someone else was at the PC, it was them.
William Reed
termux-open --send won't allow me to send file to a local storage but I can work around that. Still, I'd like to be able to save a file somewhere I can use.
Joshua Gonzalez
How do you validate the header of a file with Rails Active Storage? Everyone on SO suggests to check the file extension which triggers my security autism, but I cannot figure out how to query the physical location, only the generated URL that points to it. Any ideas of validating valid file types?
possibly, but it will have limitations, like it won't be able to run while wine isn't, nor can it make itself start automatically (unless it is specifically designed to do so in linux, since a default wine setup can write say, a systemd user unit into your home folder) wine is not a sandbox, if you want to sandbox something in wine, use firejail
