How do I get a working temporary number to register a facebook account on? I don't want to give Fuckemberg my personal one, and there are no burner phones in my country.
What should I look out for when it comes to hard drives? I've got several terabytes worth of SSD's by this point, and have been on a single 4TB hard drive when they first were a thing for consumers, but now I'm thinking about giving one of my ~500GB SSD's to a friend for her birthday, so would like to slap that data onto a basic bitch hard drive.
Is it worthwhile getting used hard drives to save some money? If so, what do I check for? Are there any CDI danger signs that I'd be unaware of? What's a good price per GB for used hard drives?
I want to snuggle OP's loli :3

I'm on ubuntu 16.04 and for some stupid fucking reason some programs start in the upper right hand corner behind the launcher with their title bar obscured. It does not happen to all programs and it really pisses me off because even though I can still select drag these windows, sometimes I accidentally grab something BEHIND it.
There is a service akin to gorilla email for phones. Best of luck to you, the service is dodgy

>plug headphones into laptop >hear barely audible noise in left channel >noise volume doesn't change with system volume What's causing this? It's certainly not the headphones' fault, every set I've got has this quiet hum after being plugged.
Kevin Walker
How do I into ultra low budget noise isolation? I know I won't have god-tier isolation, I just want any noticeable difference
Jonathan Ramirez
>video related This happens to the calculator application, Unity tweak, File Manager and a whole host of other programs. It is REALLY annoying and it did not use to do it
Until you find a solution, you can easily drag the window with Super+Left Mouse instead of using the title bar.

Would it be better buying a Dell Inspiron 5575 w/ Ryzen 5 2500U as a basic bitch laptop with some basic gayman & rendering usage, or just get a cheap used chinkpad W530 / quad core T4**? The newer, more efficient architecture of AyyMD Ryzen alongside newer features would be neat, but I mostly just want some USB 3.0 and maybe a card reader & bluray, or at least dvd drive I live in Australia, so prices are a bit fuckier than Ameriga :-D

In "The Social Network" there is a scene where Zuck comes out mid-lecture and the professor mocks him for it, after which Zuck gives him a correct answer to a difficult question.
What is the lecture about? Explain it to me like a brainlet that I am
Alexander Cox
The lecture is about paging.

When I execute a program it gives me the error: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have searched the error and in my /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ I find: libssl3.so libssl.a libssl.so libssl.so.1.0.2 libssl.so.1.1
I have a shoddy install of Debian 9.5 stretch and apt install libssl1.0.0 gives me: Package libssl1.0.0 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
How do I fix this?(libcrypto.so.1.0.0 is also involved)
Jordan Morales
Someone might remember me from 2 days ago but anyways Can a fault GPU cause your whole PC to freeze and then reboot? Isn't there a system log I can view to see what was the crash fault? How do I pin point if its my GPU?
Jacob Butler
today I ran systemd-analyze critical-chain to see which services slow down my boot time pic related is the result docker seems to take up a fuckton of time and for some reason it is also WantedBy=multi-user.target what do? I don't want 30 seconds boot time just because of docker
Event Viewer, it'll tell you what went wrong. You can test if it's a hardware issue by booting into safemode and seeing if the system still crashes. If it does then it's a hardware problem. If it doesn't then it's a software problem on your OS (bad drivers)

Is there like a tlp for desktop computers that run linux? I just use it as a server and occassional weeaboo streamage.
Jeremiah Hall
cant you just do like systemctl disable docker.socket
then you will of course have to start the service whenever you want to use something that uses it
then it should no longer launch on boot. i am also somewhat new to linux but this is how i stopped my local postgres server from launching on boot
Angel Moore
you can do LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/library/ ./mybinary /path/to/library/ should have libssl.so.1.0.0 inside of it
Ayden Collins
but how do I get libssl.so.1.0.0?
Jason Hall
if I have any docker-dependent services at boot this will break them is there any way to make multi-user.target not dependent on docker and not break docker-depending services this way?
Blake Young
is this for a personal setup or for enterprise? if it's personal then i would say disable ALL services except the bare minimum at boot and then have a shell script that launches all the ones you "need" that you start manually. even better if you have multiple scripts for different purposes. this may sound autistic but it will minimize your boot time and indeed just save time in general as only the services which are dependent for a certain purpose will ever be launched when needed.
this goes for enterprise too but at that point, hey, they're paying you for your time so fuck it
Landon Wilson
you gotta compile it, lad

Is DuckDuckGo shit? What's a good search engine?

ln -s libssl.so.1.0.2 libssl.1.0.0 You may get an error message if it strikes an API difference, say for ciphers that were later found insecure. There's always a good security reason when they break libssl like that.

It crashed twice whilst playing overwatch.(don't judge me) The 2nd time it crashed the sound went off and i carried on playing. then about 30 sec later it froze and reboot. It could also be the power supply right? I think considering the sound went out its probably the GPU cause nvidia has a sound driver that's installed(I was just uninstalling all the drivers) Event viewer just says that the PC unexpectedly rebooted
Isaiah Flores
thank you, it worked, kinda now it's another lib complaining about it: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found
Camden Watson
typically if it's the power supply then the system would just reboot or shut down instantly before crashing. if the audio cuts out then freezes 30 seconds later, it sounds like a driver issue. try using DDU to completely get rid of all your GPU drivers and registries then do a fresh install of drivers, I recommend trying 398.36 drivers instead of the latest to see if it's a specific driver issue. If it still crashes on 398.36, then it's probably the GPU being faulty.
Robert Jones
You're going to have to build it then.

Buying my first ever 4 HD TV. What do I need to KNOW? I'm going to be using it in my new house as home entertainment / Xbox one x / PS4. I've only ever used PC monitors for the past 15 years.
Brandon Phillips
Slow internet and I'm already nearly done with ver391.35 Its an old driver so I'm sure it'll be alright so I'll try that. I'll run ddu like you said just to be absolutely sure but I won't find anything if I've already uninstalled everything though, right?
Landon Collins
Just from using Google it looks like 391.35 has issues with Overwatch. That's why I recommend 398.36 as it doesn't have issues with Overwatch. Using the Nvidia uninstaller doesn't get rid of everything completely so that's why you use DDU to make sure nothing gets left behind, it's the same program people use when switching GPU brands.
Jeremiah Peterson
no, it means anyone can look at your code, fork your repo, and potentially send you pull requests. If they send you a pull requests, it's basically how you can approve/deny changes to your code. They can do whatever they want to their own forks, but nothing to yours unless you approve it.
There are ways to grant individual users the ability to directly push changes without pull requests, but that's something you have to enable.
Matthew Young
>Just from using Google it looks like 391.35 has issues with Overwatch. Shit. I'll just try it anyways and if still funky I'll get the update you listed. Do I still have to boot to safe mode with ddu? Aswell from all I listed you reckon it's a driver issue and not the actual card?
rEFInd randomly stopped working and I have no idea why. anyone ever have an issue like this before? it can’t be a detection issue because it’s not even showing the bottom tray icons or the dialogues indicating what keys to press. I tried everything I could think of; resetting BIOS stop factory defaults (and disabling secure boot obviously), updating rEFInd, reinstalling rEFInd, and specifying Windows’ bootmgfw.efi location in rEFInd.conf. does the same exact thing. I guess I’m open to any recommendations for a GUI EFI boot manager, in the meantime. I never added a boot entry for my Linux's EFI so I'm stuck on Windows.
and I believe it's a driver issue but I can't 100% confirm it, you have to test and see if DDU uninstall and fresh reinstall fixes your issue. If it doesn't then it's most likely the card.

>It's recommended that you use DDU in safe mode. >and I believe it's a driver issue but I can't 100% confirm it, you have to test and see if DDU uninstall and fresh reinstall fixes your issue. If it doesn't then it's most likely the card. Well the driver I download is apparently incompatible with win 10 so I'm atleast downloading your recommendation now. Thanks a million for your help. Also can I bother you once more? My GPU isn't even 1 year old do you think I'll be able to RMA it by just saying audio cuts and screen freezes followed by reboot? You think they'll replace it?
Joshua Myers
So I have a lineage phone with no Google play services but I really like the Google keyboard. If I disable the analytics in the app settings, block all internet connections with afwall , restrict it completely with xprivacylua and use aosp spell checker is there any way I could still be cucked by the botnet?
Joshua Wright
I don't know your brand's warranty policy, you have to check up with them and see if they can do anything. Most GPU makers offer 1 year warranty so if it's less than 1 year old they should be able to replace it.
Jonathan Hernandez
2 year msi. I'm just asking since I've never rma'd anything. Technically the GPU still works its just faulty during gameplay. I'm not sure how they test if I'm under warranty
Adrian Butler
they check your GPU's serial number in their database to confirm your warranty status.
anyways just try the DDU and 398.36 drivers, if it still messes up then give them a call and they'll guide you through the RMA steps.
Kevin White
Thanks m8. Won't be bothering you any more. Have a sexy pic as my gratitude
Is it better to run your PC at a constant voltage and constant max clock on all cores or leave it all on auto?
Jaxon White
install compiz config settings manager, you can use it to tell windows to open centred

Auto - though it's not a bad idea to always max all the fans, provided it's not too noisy for ya.

I'll be commuting an hour to an hour thirty minutes, and I was thinking about using remote desktop software to connect to my computer at home in case of emergencies. I'd be installing it onto a netbook or the like to stream the desktop, use its programs, and transfer files. I checked the Jow Forums wiki, but there wasn't any recommendations on programs. I'm debating between NoMachine or TeamViewer. Any thoughts?

after unplugging and plugging in the USB power for the VGA-HDMI adapter the problems are mostly resolved (wavy lines are barely visible). is the just interference fucking with the VGA signal? I thought the adapter would make it a digital signal and therefore unaffected by that?

I downgraded to an older version of Android on my phone (LG G3), before doing that I did a TWRP backup. The problem is apparently some of the contacts were only stored on the phone so I'm now missing some important numbers. I'm trying to find the contacts database file, but I think the problem might be that LG use their own app and perhaps they store them in a different way than vanilla Android. Worst case scenario I'll have to install a custom recovery and restore the backup, but if I could just get the contacts that would be less of a hassle.

The problem is all contacts from the last year or so were not on the SIM and not synced with Google. It's actually a pretty laughable situation because I need to contact my landlord (an old lady) and I have no way to reach her. I managed to get some of them back just by installing IM software like Viber that syncs chats across devices, but not my landlord obviously.
PLS HELP installed syncthing on my thinkpad and phone wanted to sync my photos folder from the pad (16gb all of my photos) to the phone, but for some reason the phone didnt start to recieve them although it said "syncing". So in the mobile app, i opened the Web GUI and there was a red button override, which as i quicky understood - overrided the folder on my actual thinkpad with the empty folder by the same name from the phone. So now my photos are gone. Is there a way to revert this pretty please??
