Want to build a kind of "dream pc". Want to play newest games (2019) at 144 hz 4k on highest settings. As far as graphics cards what will I need?. two 2080 tis?. Also what CPU?. Threadripper or something else??.

You guys are jerks. This is hardware related. I'm not asking about the games. I want to know hardware to get.
you can't play 4k 144hz witk current gpu hardware. wait at least 2 generations.
threadripper is dead
should probably get the i9 extreme GAMING edition
Why everyone masturbates to 4k so suddenly? You can't even reach stable 144fps in new games with whatever GPUs on the market today.
>144 hz 4k on highest settings
Not even 2 RTX 20180 Ti can achieve this
Threadripper is a workstation CPU and is not very good for gaymen.
I would just get a 2700x and upgrade to Zen 2 when it comes out (Q1 2019).
well. So let's say if I were to get 2x2080 ti's what would I be able to do?. 144 1080 highest settingss OR 60 hz 4k?. One or the other?.
SLI is dead, retard
^Pretty much this.
It only works on a few games. Not worth it at all.
scaling is generally shit nobody cares about sli. you cant do 4k144 even with 2 cards.
I'm an AMD unpaid shill, but Intel's 9900K is the best CPU for your usecase.
>games
>on threadripper
lol
144hz @ 4k is impossible. this is your best bet for price to performance if you have that kind of money to spend, though:
pcpartpicker.com
If hes spending this kind of money let him get the i9 Xtreme and dual 2080s. Let him pay for his fantasy.
You might try asking this on the video game board
>16 lanes
No thanks. I'd prefer something that's not gimped.
>gaming
>threadripper
Nothing will run modern games at 4k144hz
Anything between a 1080 and a 2080ti will run most games 1080p144hz
honestly if you want to play competitive games at 4k you're an idiot, and if you want to play non-competitive or singleplayer games at 144hz you're also an idiot.
No system will magically do "the best" and if you gave half a shit about what you were talking about you would have googled "is a threadripper good for gaming" and would have learned that you're STILL an idiot.
>2700x
>implying this idiot is going to overclock it
>implying this guy cares about your AMD shilling
get a 8700k, user, or a cheap 8086k if you can find it. Clockspeeds matter more than cores rn for gaming, just like the last 30 years
>Clockspeeds matter more than cores rn for gaming, just like the last 30 years
How much do you think those clock speeds matter exactly?
>20% clockspeed advantage for a 3% performance lead
>...for a 50% price margin
This coming from an Intel/Nvidia owner
definitely get a threadripper 2990wx if you can afford it.
i7 8700k and 2080ti for 1440p 144hz. NVLink/SLI 2080ti for 100+fps at 4k.
You should buy two 2080ti cards. Don't run them at the same time, that's retarded. The second one is a spare so when the first one dies in a few months you are ready to go with the next one.
>each 2080ti on 8x PCIe
Dropped
sli crossfire is dead user
we are at least 3-4 generations behind in order to achieve that kind of fps in 4k
the only threadripper capable enough on gaming is the 2950x
plus i would wait to see the zen 2 first
Dude modern GPU's barely touch 8x bandwidth limits. As much as I love Ryzen you're going to take a much worse performance hit going with an AMD CPU than you will running at 8x.
Op wants a toddler machine
> 144 hz 4k on highest settings
no doable with the currently available products
> Also what CPU?
Wait for Zen 2 before making a move
the op is a worthless nigger that came here because he wants tech support
let him waste his money all he wants
sage
>Threadripper
>videogames
>Max OC where it goes nuclear and melts itself is 4,1 ghz.
Yeah no buddy just buy literally a 2700X or a 9900k if you got the money and be happy with that shit instead.
Buy the threadripper if you work with VMs, rendering, etc but not for exclusively playing video games.
That thing is only slightly better than overclocked older high end intel cpus so it would be a side grade for your use case (playing vidyia)
8700k is maybe 5 fps better than the 2700x, but it costs significantly more since you have to buy a good cooler for it. price to performance, my build is superior.
>Dude modern GPU's barely touch 8x bandwidth limits
wrong
youtube.com
the 2950x is at least 10% better at gaming than the 2700x is.
The 2700X is also shit at gaming, user
So not Ryzen since it also can only run 1x16 or 2x8? Most boards need a PLX chip to use all lanes 16x. I only know of two z390 that use them and those aren't even gaming boards
>5 Fps
Why do you lie. I sidegraded from a 2700x to an 8086K because the gaming performance was so shit, m8.
>Want to play newest games
/v/ oldfag here I don't go there anymore but I'll give you my 2c
Get a 2700x and a single 1080ti and oc it
Threadrippers have memory bottlenecks under Windows and don't have as good ipc due to lower clocks if you can't keep them coooled
Imho wait for 7nm and grt a used Zen and pascal/Vega card 4k is off the table still because turing sucks ass and inky has 8/11gb of vram
