Do you prefer Latex or troff/groff, Jow Forums?
imo Latex is bloated as fuck and big source files are hard to read, but math, image support and graphs is way easier to use than preprossessing on troff.
Do you prefer Latex or troff/groff, Jow Forums?
i use html
bloated is for Jow Forums what is degeneracy for Jow Forums
> big source files are hard to read
Using include, nigger.
I only use latex cuz it works and it's what my profs expected reports in.
I see you look at traps on reddit op.
>pic is literally mostly pajeets
>pajeetess wearing a fucking Saree in the middle
Absolute state of Microsoft my sirs.
>no asian
Now, that's racist.
>Do you prefer Latex or troff/groff, Jow Forums?
LaTeX.
>imo Latex is bloated as fuck
Yes, it is. But that is because it really can do the most obscure shit.
A typesetting program as LaTeX should be bloated, as it is supposed to cover a pretty wide range of use cases.
>big source files are hard
Only if you don't know how multi file projects work.
that's a man isn't it
Latex. I use AUCTeX which makes it a lot easier. When im doing something simple I just export org to latex to pdf.
org-mode to LaTeX
literally no reason to use org-mode over markdown
For me, its R Markdown.
Asciidoc/markup when possible, actually.
LaTeX/ConTexT kinda get on my nerves, I don't use them unless I have to.
Groff -ms. I don't need equations, so it's exactly what I want from a document processing system.
Why does it look like there's an alien about to pop from her stomach? Or is that (her) bulge?
>A typesetting program as LaTeX should be bloated, as it is supposed to cover a pretty wide range of use cases.
Different user here. While I agree that we theoretically want functionality for everything, the crappy LR parser everything global spaghetti code crap syntax makes it so annoying to actually use LaTeX' functionality extensively.
There should be more small, scoped functions that do clearly defined things with regards to typesetting or drawing a table or anything else that you can mix and match. And yes, the other functions someone else did that also draw things on or in tables (for instance, a declarative vector graphics package) should work with them.
But LaTeX is really not all that good at that. Things usually don't combine very well and predictably.
Groff is great, but LaTeX is the standard, good to learn how to use it too if you want to work with other academics
I googled that username and this showed up. Turns out she got two fucking "fat transfer" surgeries.
Sounds gross but I've gotta admin the result looks quite attractive.

I find groff's syntax pretty bad as compared to asciidoc [with asciidoctor] and markdown.
Which BTW both can quite easily do formula and tables and stuff.
Who gives a shit what surgeries they've got if the end result is fuckable?
Sure you get genetic surprise but dick don't care
>she
l thought it was a he
This is the real problem with e-celebs. They live in people's heads rent-free making people think everyone who says what some twat with a youtube channel is that twat. I've been talking about groff on this place for ages.
I find that troff/groff's syntax makes proof-reading and checking, as well as general editing, much easier since it has an enforced structure.
>ow that's a hot girl, gonna try to backtrack and find some good naked pics to fap to
>it's actually a guy in drags
fuck you

pleb, get some taste
>latex is bloated
don't do the full download that has every package?
>>pic is literally mostly pajeets
Only one pajeet, are you blind?
>>no asian
Asian on the left, are you blind?
> it has an enforced structure
I don't quite get that.
The errors it throws are not really better than what asciidoctor or markdown/pandoc gives, and it just has a whole lot of .twoletter parameter commands. How would anything be harder to spot in asciidoc / markdown?
You literally must be illiterate.
>I don't quite get that.
All macros start on their own line. It makes answering "why is it doing that?" far easier than Latex where you're hunting for that missing brace.
I absolutely agree. LaTeX really is a big mess when it comes to the language itself, there are so many things which REALLY shouldn't be that hard, the fact alone that there are two separate types of brackets to use as arguments for a function is pretty bad.
The error messages are also disastrously bad.
Ideally someone would redesign the whole thing from the ground up with everything that you can learn from it, but LaTeX is already so big that it is practically irreplaceable.
Ah, certainly easier than LaTeX. I also had a lot of issues with that.
Yea, once you have a hundred pages or more in your document and start using more and more 3rd party methods, it happens more and more often that something you imported and used fifty pages ago broke the tables fifty pages down. Or nonsense like that.
OTOH I don't get why you'd use groff over asciidoc / markdown.
>OTOH I don't get why you'd use groff over asciidoc / markdown.
They didn't really exist when I started using it. At least not in a widespread and widely supported way.
>Ideally someone would redesign the whole thing from the ground up with everything that you can learn from it, but LaTeX is already so big that it is practically irreplaceable.
They kinda tried that with ConTexT and some improvements coming from luatex' better capabilities, but it's almost equally bad anyhow.
I use latex (engineering) but not sure if its the best.
It's true. My office building is right next to a local Microsoft one (Eastern Europe) and 50 % of the people that go out of that building at the end of the work day are pajeets.
I see. It's not a recent decision you made.
Well, I was wondering, but I kinda still figure there is maybe actually no particular reason to use groff over the now widespread markdown and somewhat widespread asciidoc [which seem more capable and quicker for other people to learn].
It was when your choices where basically groff or openoffice (which sucked dick at the time for anything bigger than a few pages). I've never liked LaTeX though, mainly because you CAN download a smaller package, but then you'll end up having to get nearly all the rest anyway when it turns out you need a very small part of a 100MB set.
groff comes with the coreutils and is easier to use with scripts and text streaming
Like you can use awk to make multiple small documents out of one big ones.
Do you prefer Coca Cola or wine?
Your question sounds the same, OP.
bother are nigger tier drinks
>Latex for actual typesetting (thesis, lab reports, books, etc.)
>R markdown for everything else
Also shit laptops today have at least a 500 Gb, you can afford to install texlive-full.
take the Lyx pill
groff for me
once you write some preprossessing scripts it's faster than latex
>Wine
>Nigger tier drinks
Why are you so wrong user.
Would you prefer to drink piss and get drunk drinking practically 5 piss to 1 wine?
Are you such a lightweight that you get wasted off of one glass of wine?
>reddit
And into the it goes.
>whitey/asian
>pajeet
>pajeeta
>nigger/really dark skinned pajeet
>whitey
Two or three pajeets total.
That's no girl. It's a freak of nature.
alcohol is for nigger cattle.
Tex itself is not bloated, just don't use any of the crappy packages.
> Bike shedding minor points of syntax.
This is the sign of having no substantive arguments.
You kind of answered your own question - it entirely depends on use case.
>Luk Smeg makes a few videos about groff/troff
>now everyone and their grandma uses it
Why are zoomers suddenly obsessed with "minimalism"? There is nothing minimal about using cli-only apps when they are written in python and you have to use a gorillion scripts to do basic shit a DE provides. If you really want to be productive just install Xfce/LXDE/LXQt and Emacs, you literally need nothing else.
Jow Forums has degeneracy and jews, Jow Forums has botnets, bloat, proprietary, apple, people who know how to go outside, people born before 1990, people born after 1990, cia, indians
what else
Fucking britslag thots.
trannies, ponies, UWU, desktop threads, Dunning Kruger.
troff souce files are unironically cleaner than latex
making your own macros is fun and very simple, and I like having everything in one file that I can edit with emacs
a lot of us have been using it before luke though, but I wont deny that I watch his shit and aspire to also live innawoods
Things built in china, things built outside of china, :^), basketball americans glowing in the dark, code written in C, code not written in C, whiteboards.
