Can you run newer versions of OSX (high sierra) in a VM easily nowadays? I have to test some software on various OSX versions and my boss is sending me a mac mini but if I could just run each version in a separate VM it'd be much easier than having slews of USBs booting slowly for 5 minutes of testing

You can run 10.13 and 10.14 with no modifications.

On Cygwin you have to set the executable bit.

Sound doesn't work or works badly.
You gotta generate an Apple serial number for iCloud and iMessage (or use one from an Apple product you own) and I don't know any open-source software that does that.

i set it up last year to debug some memory corruption bugs in CoreAudio

also yeah you literally only need to pass qemu a single command to run the vm. i tend to put all my qemu configs in separate scripts though
besides that all you really need to do is prep your virtual hard drives

The link you provided requires a lot of prep, like using the Apple App Store to create a bootable installation image. It doesn't do what my script does.

Like your link I'm sure you're "massaging" the truth and you're actually referring to this github.com/kholia/OSX-KVM which requires a lot of fiddling.

Those scripts do not accomplish what this script accomplishes. For one, they require you to already have a macOS bootable install media, and add a heap of command-line fiddling to boot.

Did you happen to download an existing tampered install image off the internet? That's probably how you did it.

The point is that this script does not require you to do any of that. Not to download a modified image, not to own a Mac, not to run other scripts or manually enter things in the VM.
