HEVC looks like hot garbage for anime. There's good reason why these releases seem to come from discordfags and redditors, all reencoding crunchyroll's anemic 1080p. They're the same bunch dealing in "Hi-Res" FLAC coming from 44100 CD sources.

The artist takes different paths through their brain when they draw with different intentions.

One of the screenshots is the source which was downloaded from youtube, best source if you want to show how bit compression affects compression artifacts, since yt videos have always artifacts.
The other 2 are the source re-encoded to 10bit and source re-encoded to 8bit, both with same settings:

x264 --preset veryslow --tune animation --crf 25

I can make an HEVC comparison if you want but since majority of anime releases are still using H.264 this is a much better comparison.

Download the png image and open it in paint or gimp and zoom where you want, your browser is probably using some smoothness filter. If you still can't see, then your screen is probably too small, the difference is very noticeable on bigger screens and TV.
