I just dont understand why there isnt a fucking 4k 90hz HMD out yet.
HTC expecting me to pay 1500 dollars for a fucking 1600 display, fuck off.

Do you mean you want something resembling the Matrix where you put a cable into a neuro interface and it replaces your entire sensory experience with a simulated one?
I mean that would be kinda fun, but what if there's a fire and you wouldn't be able to know? ...and if it's too realistic, how would you be able to tell the difference between the real world and the virtual world so you're sure you've actually logged out of it so you're not driven crazy by the uncertainty?

thats the risk im willing to take

VR has many limitations, like not being able to simulate gravity, so when you're upside down in-game, your inner-ear knows you're not upside down and it can cause nausea. But you don't need sophisticated gyro sensors to have gay ERP sessions with other neckbeards pretending to be anime girls, VR is great.
But you still don't have sex in Vr however real it looks

I'd buy VR if I could just use my monitor. I don't want to wear glasses with a fucking screen burning my eyeballs.

>VR is shit because it doesn't meet my unrealistic expectations That's a retarded argument, everyone on this planet knows it's not Matrix-like VR. That shit is impossible and will be for next 100 years Current VR I see more like an extension of display tech - it puts image 360' around you, adds realistic scale and depth. As far as immersion goes - nothing matches VR gaming. Not even close
Robert Watson
What?

you're forgetting the fact that there is body tracking and sensory controllers. VR is more than just a distorted screen.

You're only "wasting" money if you're poor.
Granted, the novelty does eventually wear off. Still, I've had a lot of fun with my headset.
I've met a lot of interesting people in the small, international lobbies the games have. These games being more "immersive" due to the nature of the device makes these interactions more fun.
There's been a number of nights on RecRoom or VRChat where I'm having a blast exploring places and talking to strangers for hours.
When friends come over, it's also been pretty fun to play Superhot, GalGun, or that "Don't Stop Talking" bomb defusal game.
My vive's low quality screen I will admit isn't great. I've tried out a VR Minecraft mod on a friend's Samsung Odyssey and it was amazingly crisp. I'd probably get an Odyssey if I was doing it over again.
Enough rambling. Choose for yourself if you want it. I had spare change and a desire to see anime tiddies in VR.
You can't just go around giving terms your own definitions. An HMD with motion tracking has been considered VR since the 80s. Even just real-time polygonal worlds displayed on a monitor were considered VR at one point. You watching an anime where they have sci-fi VR tech from hundreds of years in the future doesn't make HMDs "not real VR", especially considering VR is by definition not real.

If you have lots of money, you're rich; if you spend all your money you're not rich.
