Most cable and fiber isps today effectively give you static ips. Technically they are still dynamic, but the only time they’ll ever reassign you a new one is if you get a new cable modem.

I have no problems with Hiro but I have problems with the mods of this site. They blatantly don't enforce certain rules (repeated discussion of a single video game topic belongs on /vg/ but they leave up 50 Smash threads up anyways on /v/) or you try to report threads on /vr/ that discuss Dreamcast Homebrew released in 2015 that's not retro at all but you will get banned ASAP for talking about a PS2 game released in 2000 because PS2 is not /vr/ approved. Also when you try to talk to the mods on IRC about anything it's like talking to a circlejerk clique wall. If you aren't in their clique then your feedback means nothing. The mods are fucking terrible and abuse their power when they see fit.

About the dreamcast thing, the mods were retarded early /vr/ about the dreamcast. They went purely by generation despite the dreamcast coming out before 2000 and later corrected the mistake. The PS2 on the other hand breaks the pre 2000, so it isn’t allowed. /vr/ has also always allowed homebrew games and games release after 2000 for a retro console like NFL 2005 for the sony playstation. /vr/ also hates /v/ with a passion and doesn’t want the underage shitposters of /v/ ruining /vr/ even further.

I still don't get why you're allowed to talk about "retro stuff" that's not retro at all. Like you got people talking about the PS Classic that's releasing this fucking year which is nothing but a modern ARM box or there's a thread talking about a Doom port that would have never run on pre 2000 PCs because of API protocols, but it's still allowed for those while you get banned on sight for discussing actual retro games like SSX or PSO that are older than some /v/ posters

Ports and remakes are allowed as long as the discussion is about retro video games. It's a grey area that's up to the mods if the discussion is staying retro or not, but usually the mods are lenient about these types of things like porting doom to a printer or the SNES/playstation classic. As for SSX, that's a PS2 and later series and isn't allowed unless someone made one for the nintendo 64 or playstation 1. You actually can talk about PSO, the dreamcast version. The dreamcast version is retro and allowed on /vr/. PC gaming is another weird grey area on /vr/, unlike consoles, the game must have come out before 2000 with only a few select games like deus ex as exceptions.
