>R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G/i5-8400 - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-9700k/8700k - If you have a $2000+ budget and don't care that it'll be superseded by 7nm CPUs next year
>R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform
>Wait for R7 3700X - Surely the best overall and not a massive disappointment like the 9900k
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this

>Vega 64

Storage
>Backup before using StoreMi
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Display
>Consider 75hz minimum; 60hz are mostly old models
>Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards

hyper 212 evo for best budget air cooler, notcua shills begone

Fuck off that cooler is ancient

>it's old so its bad
Fuck off shill

>Noctua
>budget
Nobody ever suggested Noctua is a budget option and the 212 is outdated.

Oh yeah? Where's your AGP video card, faggot?

In your moms pussy LMAO

For 140mm fan with 120mm mounting holes, I settled on the Noctua NF-A15.
There really weren't many options.
Looked at the Phanteks PH-F140HP and SILVERSTONE FHP-141 but meh. The Noctua looked like it's better.

To be fair, the 212 has gotten updated many times over the years and is better than on release.
But regardless, there are far superior options in the $30-$37 range and similar coolers for only around $20.

>But regardless, there are far superior options in the $30-$37 range and similar coolers for only around $20
Could you name some please?

ancient and yet retains its title, the absolute state of the competition.

that's not a good place to put a video card, it's gonna get covered in mandingo cum...

Is this good for the price, or I can do better for 2k max? Any suggestions?

1080Ti. Doubt you'll need to spend so much on mobo or cooling with a 2700X.

>2700x
>$110 cooler
>$300 motherboard
>$210 ram
8700k with basic mobo and ram is much better

Corsair 275r is the best case you can get for $70
Prove me wrong

*only in games

>comparing a $60 cooler with a $30 one
Fuck off shills, you're fooling no one

I got 250-300 euro to spend on black friday.
Should I get a cheap 4k monitor or tv (probably ~30 inch VA monitor) to watch 4k movies and porn with?
A nice racing wheel like t300rs to play dirt rally?
A topre keyboard to replace my k70 with mx reds?
A used thinkpad to learn linux with and flex on normies irl?
Can't decide...

Yes, it's only for games. I can do with a basic mobo and cooler even if I want to overclock? Given that I'll need to.

I mean, I've seen 1080p content on a 4K TV and it's not good. Probably would pick up the wheel and wouldn't spend that much on a keyboard; but what do I know, I'm a low-profile fag and don't use mechanicals as a result.

I mean 4k content
theres some movies and anime on 4k afaik saw a lot of 4k blurays and remuxes on rarbg

Do you guys think this or the nitros are going to drop lower in price in the following weeks?

Also how is the Red Devil Golden RX580 compared to the Sapphires? The 480s had decent reviews

>580 for $255
What the hell America.

Probably still would pick up the wheel if you are playing more than just DiRT Rally and are into sim-racing overall. Else I'd probably keep my shekels for something more substantial than an impulse buy.

Will a Corsair Carbide Series Air 240 (pic related) be a good case for a quiet and relatively cool PC?
The case is yuge but it's perfect for a low noise build because it already has 3 intake fans, a ton of space for proper GPU cooling, and enough space for a tower CPU cooler.IT also had 3 3.5in HDD bays. Will it work well as base for a silent PC or are there better options?

Attached: Corsair Carbide Series Air 240.jpg (227x222, 7K)

What PSU do you recommend me for an i7 8700k + 1080Ti build?

Attached: 1530908198953.jpg (637x706, 74K)

personally biased towards VS series PSUs. Had my VS550 for nearly 7 years now.

Eurofag here. Is Black Friday for PC parts a thing here? Amazon should have some stuff at least, no?

>Is Black Friday for PC parts a thing here?
Yes and no. It exists, but it's been shit for a few years.
>Amazon should have some stuff at least, no?
>Increase prices days before
>Pretend it's a sale when it's Black Friday
How about no.

>silent
If you want "silent" there's a case with a giant passive cooling feature built in, the thing to look for is any meshes / gaps in the case that will allow noise to leak form the system. if you're using mag-lev fans they should produce such minimal noise anyway that it won't be noticeable in most cases.
Yes it is, personally speaking from UK but there are a lot of companies that take advantage of black friday for mass sales. Amazon can be a bit shit for hardware specifically even during black friday but they will have sales. Its less wide spread so depend son the vendor.

Make sure to bookmark and note prices ~week before black friday to make sure the jews don't suddenly bump the price just before dropping so it appears like a "sale".

Attached: Human-Dogs-do-exist-700x433.jpg (700x433, 72K)

thing is, I'm building a PC, and i can't wait desu. Now, if I wait for Black Friday and it's shit I'm gonna be extremely pissed. that's why i was asking

Reminder Intel CPUs have speed holes in them.

I don't have a crystal ball m8, no one knows for 10% sure.

100%*

No personal experience with the case, however having built systems for half a decade thats one thing I've noticed with people concerned about noise levels. You can also add dampening to existing meshes / openings in the case just make sure its semi permeable and doesn't completely constrict airflow.

If purchased on amazon you can always get an RMA if you dont like it / have a minor (potentially falsified) complaint.

what's the fucking catch with these prebuilts? they seem so cheap compared to similar builds on pcspecialist and pcpartpicker

Attached: V1QmOI[1].png (963x506, 311K)

Build for seedbox with mergerfs, snapraid, and rtorrent(prefer to be in server chassis and use lower power)? Budget around 450 USD without drives? Would rather buy new but willing to buy used if power efficient.

they use cheap MoBos, PSUs and ram (2400mhz).

I saw a 200 bucks PSU listed on logical increments. I was going to get a corsair 750w 80+ gold that I chose without researching much desu.

power and ram i understand but how badly would the cheap motherboard affect it?

also can you still replace parts in these prebuilts because i do have better ram lying around

What are the SATA SDDs to go for these days? I was thinking of grabbing either the ADATA SU800 or Samsung 860 Evo. Anything else I should pay mind to?

80+ bronze is minimum, if it doesn't meet at least that standard I wouldn't waste any money on it. I imagine a 550W should manage the load but 600W will give you that extra peace of mind knowing you won't cross that threshold or come to close to it even with massive overclocks.

if you already got good ram thats pretty much all you were going to save going with this build anyway.

Any opinions on Inno 3D?

The exact model I wanted is:
>Corsair RM750X V2 750W 80 Plus Gold Modular
>120 bucks

Which I guess is more than enough.

>what's the fucking catch with these prebuilts?
For brainlets who can't into building. They put a couple of shiny parts, but the rest can be subpar if not outright garbage, like PSU, mobo or RAM. Which is why building one would still be a bit more expensive. If you already have RAM () there's no reason to bother.

>buying a monitor higher than 60hz
Placebo, enjoy wasting your money

why can't I initialise and format this dumb cunt of a hdd

I have a 500€ budget. Is there a kind user who could pick me some decent parts for gaming?

I'm gonna need some input here guys.
I have this build pretty much planned, except the monitor, ideally budget is 350 bucks (EU) but I could stretch it.
Main pieces are a 8700k and a 1080Ti.
I have a couple of questions:
>Is G-Sync a meme
>144Hz or 2K
>Any downsides on playing more demanding games at 1080p on 2K monitor?
>Any downsides on a game not being able to run at 144fps on a 144Hz monitor?
>Suggested models?

Attached: 22--ketchup-catsup-patrick-charles.jpg (720x900, 277K)

>Windows
There's your problem, unironically.

low tier b8

Personally, 144hz > 2k, but it depends on what your use case is. If you play mainly FPS I would recommend 144hz, if RTS or RPG then 2k.

t. buyers remorse fag

Well shit. I was playing and the game crashed several times saying the application was crashing the gpu's driver. I thought it might be temperature related, since it's a very hot day. I opened up my gpu, cleaned the whole thing, changed the thermal paste. It kept crashing like before.

I ran some stress tests and my cpu was getting hot after some minutes. Its cooler is not the best. However, after I stopped playing and testing, I was just browsing the internet and the windows crashed in the same fashion as in that stability error from overclocking. And by the time it happened, I was monitoring the cpu temperature and it was 35°C, which isn't high, and it wasn't even running on high clocks. Any insights on what could be happening? I thought it was temperature related, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Pic related from a Google search, not from the time it happened.

unstable overclock?

More bait, just as low hanging, I use 2x60hz monitors.
If, in reality, you're not trolling then you're one very misinformed individual thinking there's not a noticeable difference in 60hz and 144hz. That or your eyes don't work senpai.

>Is G-sync a meme
It's not necessary at high refresh rates, treat it as a luxury and only as a luxury
>144hz or 2k
144hz
>Any downsides on playing more demanding games at 1080p on 2K monitor?
No
>Any downsides on a game not being able to run at 144fps on a 144Hz monitor?
No
>Suggested models?
The argument you should be making is whether you would prefer high refresh rate or sharper resolution like 4k or QHD. And if so i would just recommend any well reviewed 144hz 1080 model. Use tftcentral and make your own decision

>500€
You know the experience will be shit, right?

>2K
>1080p
You realise that 1080p is roughly (but not accurately) 2K, right? 2160p ("4K") is four times the pixel count.

>144Hz or "1440p"
>8700K
There would be no point in buying a 8700K without aiming for high framerates.

sounds like unstable cpu or gpu overclock. tone down the clocks or bump up the voltage.

Kingston for (very) cheap boot drive, evo for things that matter.

2400g/2200g
best ram you can get
cheap case
cheap b450 mobo
done

It's what typically happens in this case, but even though I use a slight overclock profile on ryzen master while playing, it's still happening when not using anything other than default profiles.

There's one thing, though. I once tried overclocking my ram and couldn't make it. And while my motherboard kept all the original profile, it couldn't change the dram voltage back to normal for some reason.

Thanks for the input.
Well, I'm building this for a friend and my advice was to go for 144Hz.
He wants something that lasts at least 5-6 years. My logic is, maybe you can run new (not all) games at 144 fps with that build, and probably you will run new games fine in 5-6 years but at 60fps.
On the other hand I can't really picture any build moving games at 2k or 4k any better in some years.

My hardrive was working fine but sudden;y isn't showing up anymore, could it have died? I'm on Win10

Country?

you'll run future games at 144fps too, just not using the same settings.

this is one of the errors I get when I try to use a shortcut for something that was installed on the drive

Attached: error.png (555x151, 8K)

Do I have to download any other drivers apart from gpu's?

try resetting your cmos, it should force default everything to their original values. also try running a memtest to make sure your ram isn't fucked.

ethernet driver
audio driver
sata driver
chipset driver

Need a good mid case for

I wanna
HUG
the dragon

>no spoilers on Jow Forums
this board fucking sucks, I'm ditching this place for reddit

Fractal Define R5 and all the other ones that look like it, Thermaltake and be quiet come to mind.

That's another possible approach.
Is the jump from 60fps that noticeable? I'm not going to say 144Hz is a meme because that's what I used to say about mech keyboards until I got one.

I was able to change the voltage back to normal again, thank you. Which memtest should I use, memtest or memtest86?

The jump is that noticeable, observable even, with the mouse cursor on the desktop

what about a Define C? 120 for something i never see that isn't actually doing anything for me is a tough sell. does the R5 have insanely good airflow or something special that makes it 120 dollar-good?

memtest86, you burn it to a cd/dvd or usb and load it from the bios boot order

It is, but you need Intel CPUs, excellent board and cooler and they're just that expensive. Oh, and a delid as well most likely. But it absolutely is noticeable.

Can you see the drive in the BIOS?

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and MSI B450 motherboard with latest bios.

It refuses to let me install Windows.

I downloaded the Windows 10 iso. Tried burning it to a USB drive with both dd command and gnome-disks to no avail. It always tells me there's no detected drivers. I've tried secure boot, not secure boot, using various tools to burn the iso, redownloading the iso, etc. Just doesn't work.

I have GNU/Linux on my laptop but it was pretty pointless buying this desktop if I can't even play good games on it.

you burning it with linux? that shit isn't gonna work no matter what you do, you're gonna have to find a windows usb and use the official windows tool to make that usb
I had the same problem when I built my pc with a 2400g

What do you guys think of this build?

Note that it all will be bought on my country Amazon since is cheaper, the
Aorus mobo cost 20 usd less than MSI B450 Tomahawk, the Aorus 1070Ti also is the cheaper of them all costing 50 usd less than the EVGA FTW.

The 1700 is a stop gap while Ryzen 3 get launched (my pc died, that why im building this) and the ram is also the cheapest and kinda less flashy the alternative being a fucking 2666 A-Data kit with disgusting red aluminum + rgb heatspreader.
