Shouldn't be a problem to send something through Taobao to someone in China, but you'll often need a proxy service to get anything out of China if you buy it there [akin to a lot of nippon purchases, they also require proxy services half of the fucking time].

I think you're imagining things with the "tuning". It's not like they optimize anything obvious, and you're not getting sound signatures a la carte either. "Sounds okay, looks marketable" is probably as far as it goes, and then they make a lot of graphs and fancy marketing materials and go to astroturf audiophile suckers who want to believe $60 or $200 IEM are better than $10 ones and will believe it once you sing their praises.

The thing is uGreen/Anker/Aukey [what I perceive as pretty typical burger choices] aren't really better than Blitzwolf, Orico, USAMS, Xiaomi or a lot of minor brands.
The epidemic of bad grid power->USB power plugs has ebbed off somewhat and I haven't spotted a cable vendor yet that fucked up type-c cables; plus all major chink brand's type-b cables seemed reasonable enough these days.

The others didn't break in a month either, but some of them are rather unwieldy. Even if a big head with a lot of surface for LED to shine through and then a numerical temperature display does LOOK fanciful, it's not really equally practical IMO.
