Install Gentoo

Why?

I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it.

Okay, I'll remember you as a light in the darkness, thank you, my first mentor

If you're tired of Windows then why wouldn't you be willing to try something else? Why do we need to convince you?

Because I'm insecure since I don't have any knowing in this field. I want to know if it will be a difficult transition for a normie like me and the advantages of it

install BSD

Install Gentoo w/ BSD instead of Gentoo w/ GNU/Linux.
-free
-bullshit-free
-no normies
The last point is what GNU/Linux misses.

This depends on your priorities
Linux might not be right for you
What are the top three things you do with your computer?

I don't know how to do something new, so I will just stick with what I know.

Just try some distros out yes it will be new and scary. Just don't give in, and go back to Windows cause it's easy.

Install any Ubuntu derivative/openSUSE/Mint/Fedora if you want something close to windows but less shit than actual windows. Debian/Devuan if you want less bloat. Gentoo/Arch/LFS/Void if you want The True Linux Experience™

Screenwriting (I use CeltX and Scrivener)
Video editing (not as much as screenwriting)
Chilling on the net and Jow Forums

install devuan with i3 and be happy
>easy to install
>takes less than 10 minutes
>systemdless
>has the support of debian
>i3 is comfy

Try Windows 7

You still can emulate windows 10, with videocard and all inside linux when you need, but when you don't, you will be using an OS that is safer and faster in general.

>lots of different selections of distro, each with its own balance of plug-n-play and customizability
>excellent online, easily accessible support/documentation for all open software
>fast boot times

Uh, have you checked to see if packages for this sort of stuff exists on Linux?
We have web browsers covered, but screenwriting?

I think CeltX is available for Linux, professional video editing worries me

>switch to devuan this weekend to escape systemd
>boot times 10x longer than KDE Neon
>idle at 1050MiB RAM usage w/i3 compared to 1200MiB in KDE Neon w/Plasma
Literally the only thing that's better is that GRUB recognized windows 10 this time.

I just jumped into Kali for shits and giggles
You can just use Linux mint or Ubuntu MATE
Those two are beginner friendly

Buy a old computer and just use a spare computer
I never recommend completely jumping straight into Linux without Windows
What's the worse that can happen from trying it?
You find a way to get fucked in the ass by a corperation

>screenwriting
Linux is godlike for text editing. You will wonder how you ever functioned without it
>web browsing
You can do this on whatever, so you're good

>video editing.
Never done it. I would imagine if it's pretty basic splicing Linux would actually be better as I Imagine there is usually good minimalistic tools for stuff like that. For more advanced things however....... I would look into it before switching. Davinchi resolve provably fits your use case though

ignore the memers itt and install Kubuntu
