What wm theme and icon set are you using?

I don't know about the icons though but looking at them I know they're from win95

the way i'm using it, it's basically KDE (kwin, dolphin, all that) without plasmashell, so it's great.

the only minor problem i had was that changing display brightness didn't work (despite basically being supported and working in KDE), so i had to write a small bash script for that. but i'm using a pretty outdated version (from debian stable).

plus if i replace kwin with xfwm4 i have a pretty lightweight system that works reasonably well also on a raspi.

Gentoo. If you install gentoo you're not a beginner anymore.

its fine, just use slapt-get instead of pkgtool (the pkg package manager doesn't manage dependencies for you, slapt-get does). slackwiki.com/Slapt-get
If you want something a bit more beginner friendly than Slackware, go with Devuan.

If it isn't based on Slackware then there really isn't anything similar.
Only Slackware isn't dead, and it never has been.
Depends on which side you're looking at. If you mean good as in easy and accommodating then it isn't, but if you want a good distro to learn the basics of Linux then it is good. It is the most vanilla distro, definitely not for everyone, there is no dependency management by default, but it's trivial to add. If you stick with it for a while and set it up it will pay dividents provided you're willing to learn.
