PRESS F TO PAY RESPECTS TO THIS ABOMINATION BY INTEL

>The 9980XE seems to overall fall in between the 2950X and 2970WX performance-wise. From that perspective, you are paying about $679 to $1079 more for the 9980XE, than the competitive Threadripper processor. The one outlier here being instances of H.264 encode on the WX parts. However even looking at those two H.264 examples, you might be better off purchasing a 2950X which well is over $1000 less than the 9980XE.

BASED

Of course overclocking the 9980XE, even to a "low" 4.1GHz, as shown above, will cost you in terms of power and certainly temperature. Our XSPC custom cooling loop is not exactly "wimpy." Even with our healthy custom loop, we were hitting a CPU package temperature of 100C

Lmao

Fucking LMAO. I can't wait for Zen2 Threadrippers.

Thry crippled the 9980XE to try to force people to the unclocked xeon w. Pretty shitty honestly.

It's just a rehash of the 7980XE.

This.
9980xe is a rebranded 7980xe.
They have everything the same except the base and boost freq.
They support exactly the same things, they have exactly the same features and they have exactly the same price.
>amd releasing 580 on a better node with 15% more clocks as 590: rebrandeon
>intel releases 7980 as 9980 one year later changing just the label: new hedt cpu

>intel 8 core: 160watts
>amd 32core: 200watts

holy fuck, that's like 6 watts per core

Attached: power.gif (433x457, 18K)

holy shit why would intel even release this

Got to do something to tackle threadripper.

Why do people keep posting Krzanich?

Cause he was a notorious victim of Lisa's strap on

That was a "consensual relationship".

Because he's the chosen one. Soon he will make his triumphant return, and will be the sole responsible for the rise of Intel as a top manufacturer again, of grilling machines.

kek

I don't understand how Intel 9th generation is even a new generation. Isn't it basically the same as 8th generation but only a tiny amount faster? Like it should be 8+ instead of 9.

You're describing every intel generation is recent history.

S

Why can't amd release a 5ghz 8c proc? Memes aside that's literally all it'll take to kill Intel.

Wow good idea user AMD has never thought of that before. Better fire all the process node and arch team to make way for your big brain ideas.

Why haven't you just acquired gainful employment, user? That's literally all it'll take to leave Jow Forums forever.

There are 6 true generations

Nehalem
Sandy Bridge
Ivy Bridge
Haswell
Broadwell
Skylake

After Skylake (6700k), Intel faced issues with 10nm but back then it was okay because AMD was irrelevant and nothing more but part of computer history. They came back in 2017 with Gen 1 Ryzen that had more cores but is slower than the 6th gen and 7th gen Kaby Lake and it forced Intel to scrap all their roadmaps and have begun to rush 6-8 core parts in the succeeding years

Hence the existence of Coffee Lake and CFL-R, Coffee Lake is great but it still didn't match the core count of the 2nd gen Ryzens so Intel had to cough up a refresh, except the 8-core Coffee Lake is buttexpensive and adding 2 more cores made it really hot regardless if it was soldered and if it had a thicker die and IHS

So assuming AMD fanboys get their 10-12 core Ryzen 3 Intel will have nothing to compete with in 2019, they'll be the same corpse as AMD Radeon just releasing inferior products until they get their flagship product right at the soonest amount of time possible

Intel also doesn't play fair when challenged, it won't surprise me if they move their desktop chips to TSMC just to create an artificial shortage of AMD chips. Not this generation of 7nm parts, but 7nm+ and 5nm ones

>it won't surprise me if they move their desktop chips to TSMC just to create an artificial shortage of AMD chips
I doubt that's how the industry works, they can't just "move" their chips at will to TSMC, as there are 2 parties in the contract. TSMC needs to accept that, and I doubt they'd take on another order if it meant taking away capacity from their existing customers - that'd probably mean enormous contract fines that even Intel won't be able to reimburse them for.

Power consumption only matters when Nvbidia and Intel says it does. The second these two companies lose that advantage its a non-factor all of a sudden. Odd no?

Attached: GoyZ.jpg (610x385, 59K)

But TR2 also gets to 500W when overclocked.

Attached: power_0.png (602x803, 253K)

Yeah at nearly twice the core count and not too far off in clocks.

But when you are talking about 32 fucking cores, it makes sense. Go divide the wattage by core count and prepare to be even more BTFO.

Every "new" CPU Intel puts out makes me that much happier I went with Threadripper. I'm super excited to see what Zen 2 and 3 bring.

Attached: IMG_20180921_183133.jpg (2560x1440, 1.03M)

seriously now, is intel finished? it seems like situation is getting worse with every new day, last months were just failures after failures, and these prices dear god

Attached: 1505631437787.jpg (243x287, 25K)

Intel never, ever reduces prices so all aboard the shekel train!

Except that performance benchmarks show up better results with Intel's fewer cores than with AMD's, with the exception of Cinebench and Blender. Single core results matter more in the day-to-day experience than synthetic multi-threaded scores. Not many software applications have been set up to use more than 4 cores anyway. This whole 'more-cores' attitude is also a flawed way of building hardware because it makes programmers lazy. They care less about optimizing their software because "64 threads will be able to handle it" which is not how things should be. Maybe Zen 2 will improve this, but as it is right now, 2990WX is not an ideal CPU unless you're building a rendering farm.

Attached: 1535526563072.png (2000x1543, 58K)

Push 2990WX to 4.2GHz and you'll get 500W as well

this isnt 2002, even games that are hard to implement to use multiple cores do use them now, single core is important but not that much anymore

Attached: 1481742059881.gif (500x338, 3.35M)

No-one gives a flying fuck about single core when it comes to HEDT. Even then, AMD's HEDT single core is more than enough compared to Intel's.
It has 32 cores vs. 18, you dunce.

>This whole 'more-cores' attitude is also a flawed way of building hardware because it makes programmers lazy. They care less about optimizing their software because "64 threads will be able to handle it" which is not how things should be.
You literally have no clue how programming works. It's actually harder to utilize more cores, and easier to just write sloppy crap that a turbo'ed single core powers through. As expected of i/g/noramuses around here.

And it can't hit 4.6GHz, you dunce.

Who cares? It still loses.

In fake benchmarks paid for by AMD chink shills

>I think it's 100 niggas of a drop speed and you get six hundred eighty nine pounds
Intel released a new CPU buy guide for Pidgin speakers, watch with english subtitles youtu.be/mXBsvbPjIOk

*higher is **better
**for Intel

Intel only loses at 3D rendering.

Oven dodger detected. Go jump in an i9-powered furnace.

How deaf are you that this vid requires subtitles?

You're not buying a $2000 CPU to browse faceshitter and play CS-GOnads.

Holy shit AMD BTFO gain

Exactly, I'm using it in a creator's workflow which heavily involves the Adobe suit and I guess you don't want to get into the details of that when it comes to AMD.

>0.5Kw
Intlel is finished. It's not even funny anymore, just sad.

>muh one shitty filter that uses a single core

Again, Intel's single core on their HEDT is barely any different from AMD's. And I doubt you're doing anything with Adobe software besides photoshopping more crying wojaks.

Imagine using Adobe for video editing in 2018 when DaVinci Resolve exists

Imagine how fast I work when I can simply drag ā€˜nā€™ drop files I made in one Adobe program to another just like that.
Imagine how much faster I work when there are a myriad of kits, comps, plug-ins and add-ons readily available for the Adobe suit.
Imagine how much time I would waste and how much money it would cost me to recreate all the files I got from colleagues, clients, and the whole industry, in another software just to satisfy your autism.

Oy vey I wonder who could be behind this post

>i9 9980XE

Now that Intel has run out of digits, what will they do with their next processor?

>core i9 9999XXX

(((They))) will do i11.

iA 0xA000

No, no way this is real

Attached: 1541983608860.jpg (1680x1050, 104K)

i11 for extra turbo 6GHz 8 coarz at 666W

Nah, they'll simply disable HT on i9 and introduce identical CPUs with HT as i11.

oy vey

INTEL WINS ONCE AGAIN

AMD BTFO

and yet selling like hotcakes

Unbelievable. It took AMD only one and a half years to destroy everything Intel worked on for DECADES.

Attached: how-times-change.png (605x1466, 584K)

kek

Attached: 4jpideak.png (631x310, 14K)

you must be fucking retarded to think multithread is easier to develop than singlethread

Not in this timeline.

[Higher is better]

Out of stock and overpriced != Selling like crazy. It just means Intel's fabs are stretched to their limits and they are barely even shipping anything out the door. Expect paper launches for years until they get more 14nm production up and running. Not even going to talk about 10nm because lol.

No fucking clue what you are talking about. There are Hedt applications have been multi threaded since the 90s

Yeah but if I buy intel I will save some money by not buying a heater!

So the 64c/128t Zen2 EPYC2 chip has a base clock of 2.5ghz. At least one SKU, they might push clocks a bit higher eventually.
The current top end EPYC SKU with 32c has a 2.2ghz base clock, and all core 2.7ghz turbo.
Both with 180w TDP.

AMD flat out doubled core count, added transistors, doubled FPU data paths, and still increased clocks at the same power.
Zen2 is going to be absolutely incredible.

Yep, burning your house down is a good thing

The fuck is a 30 mesh?

Its an uncore setting, affects the ring mesh. Its supposed to be an upgrade from their ring bus.
