I'd say that both the GC and PS2 (shovelware aside) both aged really well, and the games still look good on original hardware. GC had Wind Waker, Pikmin 1+2, Mario Power Tennis, Resident Evil. PS2 had FFX and FFXII, Gran Tursimo 3+4, God of War 1+2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS2+3. The 6th gen in general was a great time for video games.

I think it's because most games on the GC didn't try to be photorealistic and as a result, they don't look that bad today. Only thing that's bad about playing GC games now is the resolution.

The PS2 can get pretty good graphics out of the right titles, try Gran Turismo 4 at 1080i

Gran Turismo 3 looks great even today. That game has not aged. 60 FPS too. You need a CRT to play it though.

God of War, Shadow of Colossus, those games are better looking than fucking 1.6.

sotc looks abysmal on real hardware, the framerate only hits 30 if you're in a completely empty field and maxes out at 20 if a colossus is even in frame.

To be fair I only played the upscaled version for PS3, and the framerate wasn't perfect but not bad.

That's true. I think the Ratchet and Clank games are pretty good examples of technical mastery for the PS2.
