Bring webcam home from work so I can call in to meetings

>bring webcam home from work so I can call in to meetings
>plug in to desktop, put lens cap on it
>few days later
>notice that the light turns on for about 2 seconds sometimes
>seems like it's taking a picture
>seems like it might be a set period of time after activity resumes/screen wakes

How do I find out what program is accessing this?

Just unplug it until you need it retard

>have software on my computer that's spying on me
>"just unplug it and forget about it"
And you're calling me retarded

Disable the device on device manager and see if there are logs for failed access attempts

Windows does this. Even you disable the device it will become enabled.

I wish manufacturers would just make the webcamera some modular add-on once and for all. You know, package a small clip-on with the machine the same way some places package headphones with their smartphones. All built-in webcams are shit anyway.

Well I figured it out.

I pirated and installed Ardamax keylogger before the last time my ex came to stay with me, just in case.
Turns out it detected my webcam and enabled taking pictures every so often.
Kind of useless for security if it lights up.

I'm paranoid about my own paranoia apparently.

Why do people have relationships if they don't trust each other?

you better be careful, I remember my friend who had a hunch about his friend being a crossdressing faggot so he spied on him for a while using some tools, even showed me some videos of the dude putting on a dress.

Thank god I tape my webcams up. It's a smart thing to do

People don't want to get hurt.

You tape the cam while not using it...

>2018
>not using a librebooted laptop
enjoy your botnet

I said 'ex' didn't I?
>should I spend time with my ex girl or no girl this month?

Must we hurt others in our quest to remain unscathed?

I said I put a lens cap on it, I actually haven't removed it at all yet.

were you the friend user?

Windows.

Trust but verify.

Any reasonable person won't have a problem with this.

Just put some tape on it and take it whenever you need to use it, godammit.

This, I don't get why some people get so assmad if you don't just trust blindly and verify every now and then, so your trust can become justified

You have to install the keylogger on her computer and install Tor with Meeks support, so she doesn't find out, when she is analysing the packages of her network idiot..

For you, you need a second SSD for your Laptop. One which is full-disk encrypted (try Qubes. Possible the most secure OS for the masses) and one, with a normal Distro or Windows.

Always use the encrypted if you are alone and nobody sees you, take the other for public.

That's not so hard..

just install an OS that actually can't support the webcam. TempleOS and haiku might be some good candidates

Holy shit reading comprehension in here is bad.
>seems like it's taking a picture
>How do I find out what program is accessing this?

And you get responses like:
>Just unplug it until you need it retard
>You tape the cam while not using it...
>not using a librebooted laptop
>Just put some tape on it and take it whenever you need to use it, godammit.
>just install an OS that actually can't support the webcam.

They should put a hardware killswitch like Librem

you probably have a trojan, use malwarebytes antimalware

Relationships are a liability

>just install an OS that actually can't support the webcam

Cool response

>just install TempleOS

Why is it a cool response? It doesn't address the question being asked.

Processmonitor, filemon and log everything. Stop when flashing light happens and go full autist on the logs.

Also wireshark your network

>LibreBoot
>actually doing anything

yikes

lol
fucking moron

Is this pasta?

I know Jow Forums has really continued down hill since I stopped coming here.

I think this is the only serious response so far.
I'll cache that for in the future, but I already figured it out

>Is this pasta?
It's OC.

>its okay for the government to occasionally spy on me to make sure im not up to badthink

Yeah those guys are both retarded.
I put spyware on my own computer, because it's mine, but going through someone else's shit is unacceptable.

The tools was earlier reg,file,process- monitor. By sysinternals at microsoft. But since then I think they merged them together into one or two tools called process monitor or something. I would look it up for you if I was not on my phone taking a shit.. Anyway it can log pretty much every thing that happens on your computer into the deepest details. Very powerful tools. There are some online guides you can watch to learn how to do advanced analysis with these tools.

Jow Forums have pretty much turned into a /b/ kindergarden with shitposters and larpers. Im not suprised no one else mentioned any tools or any help at all.

Wow.

>I’ll cache this for later
But what if your cache has a conflict miss?
