Other user here, while i do check graphs all the time for refference i do preffer to test headphones whenever possible, after all buying headphones is about what i like to hear, not necessarily about what measures the best depending on the target.

Be warned that the pads are not as comfortable as the originals, however you can get other pads for it or even the pads of the old AD700, which should fix the problem.

it's a bit more complicated than that, the main treble spike on the dt1990 is higer than the one on the dt880 but it's located on the 8.5Khz range while the one in the dt880 is on the 7.5KHz so some people will found one more problematic than the other, the other issue is with distortion being higher on the dt880, treble is where we are the most sensitive to distortion so treble in the dt880 sounds harsher and more sibilant than the dt1990
