Hey Jow Forums,I want to get a laptop for school that's under $300 USD. I might also attempt to do some light gaming on it so maybe some light gaming. I'm trying to get one with at least 8 GB of ram and a somewhat new processor. Any recommendations?
Hey Jow Forums,I want to get a laptop for school that's under $300 USD...
no laptop that can do any worthwhile gaming will be under $300
also don't get acer
Then what do you suggest?
Get some used shit from 2015+
Just buy some good shit off Gearbest or whatever for 50% off. I'm posting this from a 15" Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro I got for 600 USD last month, seriously.
>high strategy games on low detail aren't the most worthwile gaming
civ v and vi are too high performance
what other games are there user?
go to your local computer shop and ask to see their used returned laptops. I've seen a few decent options at my best buy that were open box and have a reduced price. Still I would even then recommend raising your budget by a hundred bucks or so. 8 gigs is necessary, but it will definitely cost more than 300 for almost any option.
AoE,Commandos,Empire Earth,Red Alert,0AD
Forgot Stronghold
install gentoo
Thinkpad X220 or X230, I guess. Don't buy new, you will get awful hardware and it won't be worth it.
>600 USD
How?
There is one at 769.99 on gearbest atm. 49% off so yeah, it's possible
Just get a t420, buy a SSD, 8gig RAM
and be still under your budget.
Light gaming like dota, lol, terraria is still possible.

Run away.
Just get yourself a used thinkpad
>Below $300
>Not thinkpad
Choose one
The thinkpad t430 is a decent low end gaming laptop and you can buy one for less than 200 dollars with the nvidia 5400m
thinkpad x220 or t420 off ebay
Under 300?
Nothing.

This is good too, they last long. They're one of the only good HP series, the newer ones aren't as solid though.
