Can I trust an aftermarket battery in my x200 tablet?

....sort of? I mean, I've never had one burst into flames, but I've taken apart several that looked risky.
Pretty much no cheap aftermarket batteries have any real quality. All the cheap chinese ones are mismatched/recycled cells.

Really liking this r61i

>pentium dual core
>2gb ram upgraded
>old Thinkpad thick frame

It's fun to use, may be cool to do a period specific egpu setup

I have an Illya vinyl decal on my Thinkpad.

you have a cute moan. I want to pull your hair and plow the fuck out of that ass while gentoo compiles in the background on my shitpad.

You'll have plenty of time to do it in too, user.

I don't think it's worth it. Just looks like crap

Salt

based god and redpilled

i bought a chink one and it set the laptop on fire.
luckily i wasnt hurt and the fire wasn't big so nothing was damaged, but the laptop obviously doesnt work anymore

What's the best option, then? It seems like my choices are chinkshit, paying more than my memepad cost, or buying old ones and hoping they aren't near death.
My current battery gets maybe ten minutes of use, so it's hard to get much worse.

learn how to properly repack a battery is also an option

>My current battery gets maybe ten minutes of use, so it's hard to get much worse.
Fair enough point. Chinkshit *is* bound to be better than that.
If you can, get one from a seller in the same country so you can at least return it for cheap if it's useless.

:3 sounds cute!

contact?
So we can discuss thinkpads of course.

Should I get a like-new T440p for $230?

Does not have the GT 730M

I currently have an x230 but it would be cool to have something I can throw a quadcore into that has a nice FHD screen.

Don't forget to replace that trackpad.

I'm a big guy, a couple more inches won't kill me.

I used to carry a 7lb 17inch laptop every day so even a 14 inch is a miracle.

Please tell me you dont think Im Tripcode. Im not a massive alcoholic like he is.

tfw I repasted my x220 and it idles about 10 c cooler optimally.

how should the thermals compare between the t420 and x220? x220 should obviously be a little bit higher, before repasting (already repasted t420 with mx-4) my x220 ran about 15-20 c hotter than t420, now it runs a little bit higher than the t420 at about 45 usually

finna gonna buy a used samsung msata ssd(made in china), what are somethings I need to be vary of so as to not get scammed. Any gnu+linux program recommendations are welcome.

Any ideas on how to keep x230 from overheating? The CPU and GPU (i5 and intel 4000) have an idle temperature of 45-49, under heavier load they average about 70. I already changed the thermal paste, do you guys have any other tips? Thanks.

Is a p51 Xeon, 16GB, Quadro M2200M gpu for 1300 a good deal? I have a x220 and a decent toshiba that I'll probably use until it dies, and I've never spent over 800 dollars on a laptop so I'm really lost here. Is this possibly the last laptop I'll ever need?

p52 is vastly superior so nah, I wouldn't pay this price for p51 at this point

how does the A485 compare to the intel T series

Hello,
I bought a HDD tray for the T430 but the HDD never spins down, not even when it's unmounted. Is that a normal behaviour?

based

Forgot to say, it's new. So no nasty cum, ramen and hair stuck in the keyboard

Where is a reliable place to buy used Thinkpads for as cheap as possible?

Same in build/quality, but 3x the idle power draw, and gimped BIOS (1.05 and 1.06 which drops performance). The big battery option is pretty much mandatory

Is kde reasonable for an i7 Thinkpad X220 or is it too resource intensive to be worth it?

Depends on how much ram you have really. But in all honestly you should be using a diffrent DE on a old ass machine like a x220.

muh first ThinkPad, 600E with PII Mobile 400 and 160MB RAM

Attached: 76576575.png (522x925, 1.19M)

It'll have 8gb of RAM with a modified bios to allow it to run at 1866mhz. xfce maybe? What do you recommend? Plan on using Manjaro

xfce manjaro works. It comes pre riced and from my experience with it acts almost the same as KDE.

Cool. I'll try Manjaro KDE and if it's not stable or shits on my battery life I'll switch to xfce. Thanks

What's the expected battery life on 3+6 cell T480? I'm getting like 8 hours of browsing, but

Can an x230 handle a 4k external?

It will probably run fine even if you had the i5.

My X200s has an SD card reader, but it can only mount cards read-only. How do I fix this?

Quick question! Can a Thinkpad X200 accept all 4 wireless card that laptop model comes with (Intel 5100, 5150, 5300, 5350) or it's only one of them?

I made the mistake of ordering a generic 5300 and got error 1802 due to the bios whitelist. Ordered a 5350 with a proper FRU number this time but my laptop originally came with a 5100. Did I just screw up again?

The x200 accecpts the following wifi cards
>Intel Wifi Link 5100
>Intel Wifi Link 5300
>Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150
>Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350
Are you shure the sd card isnt on read only?
It really does depend some guy got it to work over DP with his dell 4k screen @30hz but most people I know haven't been able to get it past 2560 x 1600

should i buy an E480?
if not, what is a based thinkpad that could run bloatware windows 10 fine? (uni reasons)

> most people I know haven't been able to get it past 2560 x 1600

Thank you. I will play it safe.

I got 4k@30hz on x220 and I believe x230 should be same, haswell introduced 4k60hz on their integrated graphics

Finally decided to try out thinkpads due to these threads, won this for $99

Attached: Thinkmeme.png (958x445, 376K)

>Are you shure the sd card isnt on read only?
I'm not sure. I was fiddling with the cards, and it started working for no apparent reason. Like, I unmounted and remounted the partition a couple times, without touching the card, and it eventually agreed to be mounted read-write. I got two different microSD cards in two different microSD adaptors, and I'm getting identical behaviour on both, so the problem's most likely with the laptop, but it could be something to do with how it reads the write-protect switch status.
Maybe I should try cleaning the card reader contacts or something.

>X220
>has X230 keyboard
hmmmm...

So im thinking about buying a laptop for college. Im planning on going into an engineering brogram. I was thinking the W Series, like a W530 or W541. However, i dunno if i should just buy a shitty ultrabook and hope my 1070 on my desktop compensates. Is there a good reason i should get a thinkpad w series with a quadro for my circumstances?
>also i have an $800 budget if that helps

bump

Same thing happened to me when I bought one blind, be sure to check inside for missing shit. I had to order a Bluetooth module and BIOS battery, in addition to the proper keyboard.

Honestly, even a fourth gen integrated Intel iGPU and up is enough for light occasional CAD.

I assume your going to be running cad so I would say a w541. Runs Wangblows 10 fine and you can get a 2k screen for it, and in my experience with cad more pixels the better. And you also have K2100M and thats going to be a big help too.

Here is one thats within your budget and basically comes with every thing you want
ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-W541-i7-4810MQ-2-8GHz-32GB-512GB-SSD-2GB-K1100M-2880x1620-Win-10/372299630940?epid=926738561&hash=item56aec9895c:g:2IgAAOSwsCJZne60:rk:2:pf:0

Huh, thats the one i was looking at earlier. Thanks anons

That's a fucking x250.

Does anyone have any guides for replacing keyboard types? Like ISO to ANSI. Is it doable? For X220 for example

All a keyboard does is send signals. How those signals are interpreted is done entirely in software. You can swap to any keyboard of your preference and just change the keyboard layout in your OS.

it's the same shit
t. every time i get a new thinkpad i have to buy an ISO keyboard, got a pile of unused ANSI shits in a drawer somewhere

How tf is a x250?

Attached: ?u=http%3A%2F%2Ficdn7.digitaltrends.com%2Fimage%2Fthinkpad-x250-2-1500x1000.jpg&f=1.jpg (1500x1000, 82K)

why does x220 cost more than x230?

Band wagging really. The masses dont want to do the whole kb swap stuff.

Comfy. Mind sharing the wallpaper?

You're a fucking idiot.

KingSener batteries are fine usually, they have quality cells

My old gamer laptop is falling apart. Im looking at getting a w540 and I have a few questions
Is the better screen worth paying a hundred more for if there is a 1920x1080 model?
How would the performance compare to my current one?
amazon.com/dp/B007R9PWLY/
amazon.com/dp/B00HD7J76G/
I dont plan to do much on it. I just dont want it to get scorching hot and turn on its fucking gamer jet engines when im watching anime. Would this be a good choice?

is there a thinkpad tier list somewhere for current day?

...

>having aspergers

no because this thread hates anything that's new

look pal all i'm asking about is a list of good price/performance thinkpads to buy right now

>having aspergers
kek what does that have to do with any thing tard.

Check eBay or Newegg as well

then read the op

...

>All a keyboard does is send signals. How those signals are interpreted is done entirely in software.
Yeah, unfortunately, in the EC and BIOS.
>You can swap to any keyboard of your preference and just change the keyboard layout in your OS.
A lovely theory that isn't true when the keyboard controller discards 'invalid' positions in the keyboard matrix, which is the X220/X320 problem.

Is a T440s a good buy?
