Is Microsoft Office now called "windows 10?"

it's across the entire os. the start menu's corners were rounded and a lot of the icons were revamped. watch the video you dork.

Attached: Q0Pyu4v.png (893x595, 1018K)

I still get ads in the start-menu, how to fix?

Can you please remove the grey slab covering all the supposedly good UI?

JESUS CHRIST SO MUCH FEATURELESS WHITE PADDING

Microsoft truly has no taste.

what build is this?

>>>no more ugly metro design
>>microsoft is completely revamping it's ui
What's it like to be blind?

it's a preview it'll probably be slowly implemented. guessing either spring or fall of next year or 2020

Look at the Start Menu icons, no more blue square paddings!

Why does Microsoft insist on wasting screen space by padding its entire UI for touchscreen input? What a retarded company.

already lost me

the fact that this was made is proof that Microsoft is bloated as fuck in terms of its staff

you asked and answered your own question, numbnuts

i actually really like the new icons they look a lot better than what we have right now

but who thought this would be a good idea?

Holy fuck, and people here go after Apple for its slick product ads? Microsoft made a fucking ad for GODDAMN ICONS.

looks comfy uwu

based

based ruri poster

those black icons look amazing tho

Windows 10 is actually somewhat tolerable now. Just install Edge Deflector and turn off the adds.

god the extremely flat look and massive bars grosses me out. how the fuck can people live with that? this especially looks terrible

I guess the massive bars are here because they removed the Metro interface.

still has elements dating back to windows 3.1 hidden in the OS.

winshit is just shit piled on top of shit.

they need to remake it from scratch

I see colors are in again.

This thread REEKS of pajeets. The only group of people on earth who could give such a shit about a Windloos 10 update.

>a whole video about changing icons

They really did the needful

Attached: macroshat.jpg (718x381, 69K)

>they need to remake it from scratch
and you'll bitch at programs not working because they'll only support uwp apps
>we have a product for people who need legacy apps and it's called windows 7

Every Windows update looks great, then you realize you are on an operating system with a built in keylogger and advertisements.

Windows 10 could have been excellent, just like Windows 7. 10 Should have just improved on everything 7 did correct, but it didn't. Microsoft wants to suck you into their data farming ecosystem just like google.

Also another comment on this. Does anyone else find it hilarious that Microsoft has a launch videos for fucking ICONS like they are releasing some mind blowing technology?

I just couldn't get it through my head and thought it was fucking hilarious they think _icons_ need an announcement video.

Pathetic.

can you please start tripfagging so I can filter you nigger ass UwU

looks really nice. here is to hope for rounded corners for explorer windows

Um, changing the icons is pretty big news when it comes to office, the last time it happened was in 2013 and that came along with pretty major design changes across the board.
Like, you can't literally be serious in thinking they released a video *just* for icons especially when the video literally demonstrated design changes across windows as well.

nvm tho this board has gotten so absolutely idiotic idk why I bother explaining this shit

This is how Windows 10 should've looked from the beginning. White icons look consistent but also soulless and sterile.

>you can't literally be serious in thinking they released a video *just* for icons

Attached: 1324.png (1949x456, 412K)

I'm sorry changing the icons is not worthy of a 1.5 minute video jerking themselves.

There aren't going to be any big changes. The whole video states that (if you could read context clues or even understood their platform). These icons are there to 'represent' what they have been doing with office365 (eg 'simplicity', 'collaboration') as mentioned in the video.

There are minor design mock ups in the video, but microsoft rarely delivers what's given in the mock up. Yeah the mock up looks excellent, but it won't look this clean when you open the start menu. You'll still be bombarded by ads. You'll still have pretty sad font (unlike in the video, mark my words).

lel

is that Edge?

Looks like firefox to me.

>Further fracturing the UI
You still see Windows 95 dialogs in 2018 on Windows. Not to mention all the applications that just don't follow Microsoft guidelines at all, and look like nothing like Office or other Microsoft applications. Even for the modern UI elements they are wildly inconsistent.
Stop using this godawful operating system already.

For a project as large as Windows you can't just change everything overnight, especially if you need to maintain backwards compatibility.

All of the nonsense in that picture only came out in Windows 8 and Windows 10. It has nothing to do with backwards compatibility, it's Microsoft once again showing their gross incompetence.

gotta get ltsb/ltsc version

This is XFCE faggot.

Attached: xfce.jpg (1366x768, 258K)

How else are you going to tabletize Windows? Eventually everything will be touch-centric and all the legacy control panels and dialogs will be replaced with gigantic buttons and whitespace.

that's actually quite good for XFCE

post configs i love consumer electronics and ricing so much!!

It's an inconsistent desktop UI. I don't see what it has to do with a tablet UI. Though even if it was because of the tablet UI, it still doesn't make sense why they'd have 6+ different context menu designs, where they only used to have one.
Why not continue using one? Or better yet, one for desktop, one for tablet. Six is unnecessary.

>windoze

>the absolute state of winfags
enjoying my KDE plasma desktop right now

There is no good reason that a UI change should affect functionality. At the very minimum all context menus should have the same colors, font, font size, and font style.

>reddit
>google
please leave

I'm sorry I apologize I got out of hand earlier

To be fair, those context menus are already painted to dark, but yeah I get what you mean.

If your project is so poorly factored that you can't modularly swap out a theme without breaking functionality, then your project is shit.
Hence Windows is shit.
KDE (which is a buggy mess itself) is unironically better designed than Windows.

YUCK!

rude

it's firefox

This has some issues.

On topic, does Windows still have the dumbass search bar in the taskbar by default? Are there still a million different context menus? Are there still two different control panel apps? Is everything still prototyped in PowerPoint and Excel? Is the recycle bin still a flat geometric mess? Does Segoe UI still exist? Is everything a stylistic mess?

Hopefully the Windows UI team, if such a thing exists, can get their shit together by the time my Macbook dies.

>lincucks and macfags SEETHING

Ok, I apologize, let me just rephrase it:
Go fucking neck yourself, degenerate.

What are you, gay?
> windows 10 looks better
Yup, you are. Gay nigger from outer space.

>Skype not adjusted

This gave me autism

>let's throw away the redesign of the re-redesign we made last year, this oughta work better
Is Microsoft becoming the next Google?

Newest update nuked my shit.
Nuked system restore
Nuked battleye
Nuked configs for things I use daily like Firefox and ShareX.

impressive. now launch open office.

This image is old, friend. Now everything's different.
t. Windows 8.1 pleb

But what's not W10 that's office you fucking retard

read the thread dipshit

I have a few problems with Windows 10:

1. Font rendering remains shitty
2. Everytime they show something decent, it's insiders build only and those are obnoxiously buggy
3. Not to mention if people were concerned about telemetry and whatever on normal builds, imagine those.
4. Some features stop working and instead of trying to fix them they just... remove them altogether.

Everyday I feel the urge of using something else, mainly because to me Windows 10 doesn't look good. It has a light theme now on later builds, cool. It doesn't even look that good though. The issue is, 8.1 and 7 also look like butthole to me. I can only make something on KDE or XFCE look appealing, but my build is so shitty that it's going to have serious issues with compatibility with Windows software in the first place.

Install gentoo

Linux does this too you sweet cummable faggot.

It's just not the same budget.

Is it wrong that I love this commercial? It feels like something out of a Deus Ex game. It's the kind of peppy, happy commercial they show you on a giant screen, while contrasting with the dark dystopian future you live in.

So if they can do this with the icons, making them look objectively better, why the fuck is the rest of the system just flatshit garbage with an added blur from macOS?

Nah, Cinema 4D is fucking awesome.

t. mad

It's staring to look more and more like kubuntu at every iteration, they'll get there eventually by 2030 or something.

looks better than linux

SAVAGE

Looks like Google or Apple shit. Glossy graphical interfaces are for faggots, which have unfortunately taken over everything. The 90s bare bones interfaces with 100% focus on the functionality of buttons should have remained the norm.

wow it's fucking nothing

Aww, I love the current file explorer icon and now it looks gay.

>50% of the real state in that window is just blank space.

Fucking WHY?

Attached: 1528487260965.jpg (500x642, 138K)

At least be glad they aren't using a 970pt font size.

Normies love blank space.
Makes them feel like they are in control.

It's in any modern UX manual.

Ultimately, they just want a white screen with just one button in the middle that says "fix all my problems".

Cool now fix the actual problems. Like settings not staying applied and merging all the control panel options into one location instead of having them split between legacy and their new "app" bullshit.

Pretty neato.

Attached: Untitled.png (2544x1379, 1.18M)

We're not on 1024×768 screens anymore, you fucking brainlet

Attached: 06c9bd3a.jpg (2560x1410, 123K)

This is one thing the new Settings app does right. Depending on the size of the window it moves elements around to make the best use of the space it has.

Speak for yourself mister.

Fuck me. Good thing I don't use any of these programs. The Skype logo looks so out of place.

Attached: office-icons-2018.jpg (800x800, 44K)

It looks shit on iOS.

Use classic start

Meanwhile me, and tens of thousands of other users will never get to see it in action, because Windows Update Service™ simply "broke" one day and will not work anymore.

Seems like Microsoft is getting their priorities straight. Everybody knows that style > function in today's world.

I couldn't believe it when I first saw someone's Windows 8 machine, screaming "not even finished OS but we're shipping it anyway with shit scattered all over the place". I figured surely that would be rectified in Win 10, but then my son pussed out from using Debian and got a box with that on it and sure enough, still an unfinished OS.

>Windows Update Service™ simply "broke" one day
That's a blessing in disguise. Download the updates manually and install them on your own schedule and convenience.
