Nope, it just makes your workflow dependant on two screens, which makes it harder when forced to work on a laptop.

Undoubtedly. I work in public accounting and I need three screens.

Who the fuck uses a laptop and why would you ever

Is helpful when you compare two files manually instead of using diff, or when debugging networking interdependent code ex: adapter + api. Instead of alt tabbing you just glance between the screens.

>Who the fuck uses a laptop
dunno user
could be those billion+ white collars who carry their werk with them and haven't really touched a desktop since fucking school

Two is almost universally helpful, even if the second monitor is only dedicated to work email. Three and above are definitely job and workflow dependent.

extra screen real estate is essential when transfering data into spreadsheets

Waiting for a flight at an airport while a sprint deadline pushes down on you.
>happened to me last week desu.

I need 3. One more would be nice for email

Why would I want to work at home?

It's very useful.
I figure a lot of the hype regarding window managers is based on emulating the seperation granted by multiple monitors on a single monitor. And on higher resolution screens, they're probably effective.

>that middle window split between screens

Why wouldn't you want to be able to comfily go to the kitchen and have a coffee/tea/snack whenever you want, to do a break and watch some TV show, play a game or whatever you're into, or just to sneak in your bed and have a nap?
Or to just have to sit in front of the PC instead of having to wake up early in the morning when you'd just like to stay in bed, face the cold by going outside, get to the office already sweaty because the heavy clothes you wore to face the cold got you to sweat when you hurried up walking or being in a crowded bus/subway, and then having to force yourself in a socially acceptable behavior for 10+ hours before going back home and repeating the cycle?

>mfw I've lost the capacity to pay attention to any videos on my screen since getting a second monitor

If you work on literally anything where you have code on one monitor and the product on the other (ex.: webdev), then yes it is definitely worth it.

Fucking checked and confirmed. Work from home is comfy af. Although being a motofag I didn't mind my commute, everyone else takes 25-30 mins and I just lanesplit and make it in 10

This is the real reason not to

My best bud at work is a motofag but he too hates riding when he's tired as fuck. As for me I don't even trust myself driving in the early morning and there are few parkings near my office, so I always walk and take the bus, but it's stressful as well.

I'm fucking wishing I'll be able to work from home again soon, it's nice to meet people and everything but this routine is killing me and the weekend is not enough to make me recover.

Code editor in one window and the stack overflow page your stealing from in the other

Not a scam. Productivity scales with sqrt(n) where n is number of monitors

it's comfy but some people are not built for it
got a neighbor who's doing car design and he swore he's never doing home office again
got burned out from having too much freedom
could sound dumb to people who can literally sit behind a computer for 16 hours a day arguing about indians ruining computers on cambodian basket weawing forum but it's a true story

Sounds very unproductive.

>twice as productive with 4
>four times as productive with 16
>eight times as productive with 64
>sixteen times as productive with 256

Attached: 1515873224598.jpg (645x671, 81K)

I'd actually be a lot more productive this way than by wasting 2+ hours a day commuting, other 2+ hours on lunch/breaks/talking with colleagues, and being tired and unfocused for all the aforementioned stuff. I could say I'm 2x more productive at home.

How is it a scam when most of the time people get there 2nd monitor for free?
I've acquired like 3 monitors just from random places like a foreclosed house I was cleaning or found one in that little shack people put shit in at your local dump

i use my laptop in court, and yes, my two monitor habits fuck me.

I can watch a lot of porn at the same time tho.
