Is 8K the future bros

>japan launches 4k and 8k channels in December
4k is now mainstream bros, the tech is here and the content is here
but what about 8k? will it become more popular and replace 4k in the future (might take long time tho), die out as a huge meme or will the market separate into consumer-friendly 4k and home theater fanatic 8k? what are your thoughts on this?

>requires 4 HDMI cables plus one for audio to get the signal from the box to the TV
>little to no 8k content
Probably better to just wait a couple years, even ignoring price.

At normal viewing distances we're already hitting the wall of diminishing returns. You will literally not see the difference between a 4K and 8K TV from ten feet away, or between a 32" 4K or 8K monitor on your desk. All increased pixel density beyond 4K on common screen sizes is snake oil like lossless audio. Hell, I can't even see the difference between a 1280x720 and 1920x1080 phone when I try.

>8K
>still blur their porn

What's the point?

Who the fuck watches TV from 10 feet away? Enjoy your shitty FOV.

Everyone with a living room larger than a closet, bong.

I know you fags only watch anime.
But I don't think there are even cameras and lenses that justify 8K.

Remember that Bayor sensor means you need 4 "megapixel" to get 1 million true RGB pixels.- rest is interpolated.

Don't bully.
He needs a special loicense to have a TV larger than 25 inch.

What the fuck does the size of a living room have to do with how far away the TV is from the couch?

Who puts the couch or the TV in the middle of the room?
They should be at opposite sides.

you can get uncensored imports btw

Only with ugly girls.

are 4k and 8k discernible at larger sizes like 100"? I have a 65" 1080p and i want to go massive, can i skip 4k and go 8k in approx 10 years?

Attached: images.jpg (163x309, 8K)

good for desperate times

It's not size, it's angle.
100" viewed at 12 feet away is the same as 50" 6 feet away.
>can i skip 4k and go 8k in approx 10 years?
Why? 4k TVs aren't expensive anymore. I just got a 65" samsung 4k for $650 on black friday.

> can't even see the difference between a 1280x720 and 1920x1080 phone when I try.
wew lad

>8K TV broadcast
>in a country where half of the fucking population still rocks CRT shitboxes

the one i have works just fine, i want to use it for many years to come but when it eventually breaks down(i hope it dont) will 8k be a thing

Japan should start unpixeling their porn and make it 8k

>make porn in 8k
>pixelate it in 16x16 blocks
>pixelated part is still a perfectly viewable resolution
This could work

Everything more than 1080p is meme tier.

well CRTs are pretty robust tech

>japan has 8k channels
>anime still drawn / mastered at

but what is the ultimate meme tier? 8k? holo-vision? retina projection? 144p vr porn?

Wikipedia says nip 8k tv is
>90mbps h264 at 60fps
I have a hard time imagining that looking good.

dont forget 720/480p masters in 2018 upscaled to 1080p desu!

Manufacturers had to shift the marketing for 4k displays from just "4k" to also include colour/contrast and post-processing enhancements. Pretty much proof that display resolution has a diminishing return beyond 4k.

Lol even 4k is pointless only improvements (8k) will bring is superior compression tech bitrate and colour space like 4k which isn't even widely used since most movies are still mastered in 2k
Not taking off anytime soon outside of theatres

>the tech is here
yeah. maybe in japan & south korea. but definitely not in third world shitholes like america or germany

will 8k even be a thing in theaters? if i recall correctly the dci has approved only 2k and 4k for digital movies

>most movies are still mastered in 2k
Much more annoying is the fact that most movies mastered in 4k end up projected on a 2k projector.
Its a loooong drive to the nearest decent theater for me.

No.
All theatres use 2k standard unless they say otherwise
What shits me is that 4k and 8k should only really be used in theatre/projector and vr applications but they are not instead morons buy 4k TV's and monitors and run sd or pseudo fake up to 4k garbage whether via upscaling (ai/quad/temporal etc) or other bullshit

What's really holding diwpqy tech back is shit 8bit panels like tn ips va and oled is dead in the water outside of meme TV's and disposable phones that dumb cunts buy every year or two (some oleds don't even last this long)
Joled and fucking fed/sed when? I couldn't give a piss about (resolution) when display tech itself is absolutely garbage at the moment especially the deminishing returns of 3k+ resolution
As I said it's only noticeable/needed in vr and extremely large screen sizes where the screen is inches from your face

I really do not care very much about 8k media, like at all, personally, but I hope it becomes the TV gimmick of the year in 2020 so that smaller panels make it to the computer monitor space soon thereafter.

43" UHD is great for a display, but getting actual ~200 dpi for test and images (particularly thumbnails) would be a huge step up.

Get your eyes checked nigger. I can easily see individual pixels and stair-stepping in non-antialiased fonts at 100 dpi from two feet away.

>4k is now mainstream bros
Where?
>and the content is here
Where?

Even 4K native content only looks marginally better than 1080p, people are being tricked by better image processing and color representation to think it has to do with resolution.

I have an OLED and it's great, but I can't really see much difference watching a 1080p blu-ray and 4k native blu-ray.

I just got a 4k Samsung nu8000 55" on Monday.

It's my first 4k tv, I find the difference is only noticeable during nature documentaries mostly, but even then I find the motion smoothing more noticable than the resolution.even 1080p looks good on it.

So no, i dont think 8k will be mainstream any time soon, if at all.

>Barely any 4K content let alone any good one
>Is 8K the future guys

>8k porn allows you to see their spotty asses and skanky STD skin in all its glory
some things are better left worse

Avatar 2 and the sequels are being shot in 8k and theaters will have to change equipment to be able to show it at highest quality.
James Cameron raising the bar again, are other Directors even trying?

This.

here in Bongland we have 2 mainstream suppliers Sky and BT who have dedicated 4k channels, unfortunately its to watch grown men running around on grass chasing a little ball, what a waste.

/thread
I mean, there are occasional action movie flicks in 4K, but who cares? The content isn't there.

Lol 4k has been here for over half a decade and yet nobody gives a fuck.
The deminishing returns and every cunt sitting far back from their tv/monitors ain't gonna notice muh dpi beyond placebo tier shit unless they are doing dpi sensitive shit.
Even 1300usd gpus can barely put out 4k 60fps maxxed out either so memesync gamer trash is off the table as well.
It's all so tiresome we have had 4k for years yet nobody wants it just like hdr 3dtv and now vr gimmick.
At Least the jump from 480/720 to 1080 was very noticeable especially coming from analogue back in the 90-00s but now nobody cares prices aside their is no point.
Better compression and colour is what really needs to improve not resolution

>tfw you voluntarily watch porn in 480p

People say same thing for 720p,1080p

8K gaming is already here.

youtu.be/211Vdi4oC9o

linus gay dick sucking ass motherfucker fuck outta here with that nigga ass bullshit

So basically like real life sex?

Is this for projectors only?
Because I can't really imagine this resolution.
4k projectors are expensive af already, and with this?

We still haven't maxed out graphics capabilities at 1080p

What's next? 16k? 32k? Where does this dumb shit end where the fuck is better display tech oled sucks (basically this gens plasma/CRT great colours but burn in and stupid expensive as higher sizes) and gamer morons buying the same old 30+ tn ips va shit or using laggy tvs
No shit.
I think modern aa (and ai) has basically solved low resolution
3k and over has stupid deminishing returns and huge impact on fps
Rtx is a flop for obvious reasons but I'd say that's basically (maxxed out) 1080p

8K for 2020 to 2030
16K for microled/Quantum dot emission display.

>in a country that had Hi-Vision MUSE broadcasts before you were even born
fixed

Anything under 8k looks super grainy. It will nmot be easy to have high framerates on 8k though, which sucks because anything under 200fps makes me super nauseous.

>I have a 65" 1080p
I have a 43" 1080p TV and i hate how awful the ppi is. I can't fathom a 65" screen with such a low resolution.

DirecTV offers 4k broadcast even to Latin American countries.

It's available everywhere. What's missing is people actually owning 4k TVs, and more channels broadcasting things like movies instead of just sports.
