soon

It's sad to see it's not color though, the technology exists.

Erotic roleplay general

inkbook user here

I've read around 6 hours now from full charge, backlight on for about 2 hours of that, battery is at 90%. the only issue I have is the page next button is mushy and if I don't push it right it won't register. overall I'm satisfied.

noice

I have a paperwhite 3 and I hate how it doesn't use the Ebook's cover as a lockscreen... Kobo does that

same, I also wish it was bigger. 6 inch is just 0.5" more than my phone

Isn't that pretty bad though?

OwO what's this?

why?

If I want to read programming and other texts, which ebook readers are best? A lot of code books don't look like they would reflow well on smaller screens.

don't believe the hype, manufacturer rated times of "weeks" are calculated by only reading an hour a day.

I'm inkbook user btw and since then I've started reading manga, with backlight on, maybe an hour and a half approximately, and the battery life plunged 10% during that time. I imagine the thing consumes next to nothing while reading an e-book with the light off, but that should give you a good idea of how it will perform when put under a load.

Minimum 10", 13" would be better
10" is still going to annoy you half the time because zooming is so slow.
Really you're better off with a regular tablet with a 3:2 screen like a Surface, unless you absolutely need e-ink or the lighter weight.
(and the Android e-ink readers aren't even particularly lighter than regular tablets; you have to get the non-Android limited-functionality e-readers for light weight, like Sony Digital Paper)

ipad

Disappointing, just about anything e-ink above 8" is $500+USD. Was hoping to avoid having to deal with a tablet display. Thanks for the help, anons.

get a case. you'll never have a problem again

>call amazon to remove ads for free unless you're a retard that wants to pay $20
>open the magnetic case, switches to your book page

wanting a "screensaver" was cool, but only faggots who want everyone to know what they read will care now

Have anyone considered an android smartphone with e-ink screen? I bought one of these from China (Hisense S9), but it didn't arrive yet.
The main idea is to use it for anki, but I also plan to have books on it for when I am not at home, where I would go for my paperwhite.

I wanted a Yotaphone 2 but never got around to getting one

What's the best way to batch convert a bunch of .png files to pdf / epub format? It's for porn.

Just zip them up (by themselves, no top level folder) and rename the zip to .cbz

Holy shit, let's give it a shot.

>Processing content
>6% for nearly 5 minutes now
Sh-should I panic?

It'll be faster if your zipping program can be set to just "store" instead of try to compress pngs, but it'll be OK

Worked, thanks user. My dick thanks you too.

through dick, unity

LIkebook Mars user here. 2nd 8.5 hour stress test flipping through PDFs and manga, the battery only lost 10% (!!!) of its charge, which is on par with idk what sort of Chinese alchemy this is compared to last time

What are some e-readers that perfectly render CJK characters? I have a really old Kindle, and CJK text is completely unreadable on it. I think at least on the spec sheet, neither Kobo nor Kindle promise to support Chinese or Korean rendering although I've read people had success with reading Chinese and Korean on those devices (but I'm not sure if they're always rendered correctly or randomly decided to mangle rendering).

Have you tried embedding the CJK fonts with Calibre? blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2015/04/28/how-to-use-custom-fonts-with-kindles-embed-fonts-in-kindle-ebooks/

I dunno I just seem to remember the paper white lasting much longer than that.

I think the ancient Kindle I have don't have fast enough processor to handle CJK font processing and also turn the page within reasonable time.

>CJK
Well 楽天kobo certainly suports Japanese on their kobo readers, have a Japanese ebook store and all. I dunno about Chinese and Korean tho.

Looking for an ereader that can be hacked on to display pdfs/djvu without major issues, is large (~8 in), has good ppi (~250), and has a frontlight.

So far I'm looking into the kobo aura one, but I'd rather not be tied to any store. What are the best ones that are like this?

I have a paperwhite 3, but I am very frustruated that all my djvus from libgen don't have a table of contents with them after converting, and that the only way to fix random letters not appearing is to convert pdfs's pages to just a bunch of raster images.

Also I'm aware the likebook mars is closest but I'm not sure its handling of the pdf issues I'm having.

Post a sample PDF

List me the e-readers with a warm white light, my nig/g/ers

I have the first edition Nook SImple Touch. Battery still lasts about two weeks, and the screen is decent. But its friken plastic case started to disintegrate. WTF.

Seems like I should buy a new one. Any decent alternatives for a comparable price?

kindle voyage masterrace reporting in
>battery lasts for weeks
>autoadapting light works perfect
>great selection of foreign books on amazon and it's dirt cheap (i'm a eurofag)
can't be happier.

Some app/indexing/pagination running in the background maybe? Someone on MobileRead use an application to force apps to shut down completely to get better battery life.

i have kindle with no backlight. i feel like a nigger with all this darkness

No built-in light is the true /lit/ experience

racism is against the rules on 4channel, user

I appreciate that you're the only person in these threads to actually say "frontlight."

go shove Hiroshima's business decisions up your ass fag coon lover

How to de-drm ebooks from newest firmware Kindle?

Any good replacement to my OG Kobo Glo?
I need lots of storage, so a microSD should be a must. And I'd like to try a bigger screen, close to 8".
I can only find some Kobos with 32GB that retail for absurdly high prices.
Any ideas?

Self-publish furry erotica novels on the kobo store until you earn enough to afford a 32GB-model kobo forma

locked down, expensive, and relatively featureless

I believe you can open up the Clara Kobo's and add extra memory to them.

Which e-reader is the best to read degenerate Chinese coloring books on?

Looking for something to read papers on.
Been working with a kobo so far, but it's way too tiny to properly read IEEE papers on, and zooming in is too twitchy to work properly.
Another very big plus would be the ability to mark and sync the pdfs.
Are there e-readers capable for this, or do I need to look into the world of tablets?

ONYX BOOX (or any reader with > 9 inches in size), expect to pay around or more than 400 usd tho..

Sounds like a tablet would be more suited for you. Especially for papers with lots of pictures.

i use a kindle paperwhite and it's tiny but it works for me. a likebook mars would be perfect because it has a bigger screen and a microsdcard slot

whats the point of ereaders when you can just like, get a fucking tablet

Less eyestrain I would guess reading a book on a tablet really strains the eyes.

wow, fucking queer bag. fucking horse cunt

you know the point

I've never had an e-book reader, at this point I'm using a Surface Pro both for manga and reading. The large screen looks gorgeous especially for high-quality manga, is it worth getting an e-reader too? Any anons who have used both?

Different devices for different things. I've got an eink tablet for PDFs and comics and a Windows/Android tablet for normal tablet things

Got pocketbook 3 for free it's ok

I used a kindle and while it's definitely better than a regular tablet, I'd like something 1-2 inches bigger, with similar DPI and more storage (4 gb is a fucking joke)

likebook mars should do the trick

>likebook mars
Is it better than a Kindle Oasis? Cause they cost basically the same.

can't you just read shit on the tablet though?

why get a separate device just to read printed anime

honest question btw, not intending to start shit or anything.

see

Because my ereader's screen looks like a page whereas my tablet's screen looks like a screen

I have a kobo forma and i like it

so, personal preference?

eink looks best in sunlight so it forces you to go outside to read your oriental funnybooks

I guess. I don't see why you'd want to use a tablet screen to read a book when you can use a screen that looks like a book

>go outside to read chinese mangoes

>in public

why would you do that. why would you let anyone know you are a fucking loser weeb.

Anime is cool now, grandpa!!!

So they dont associate with you.

yes

laptop with e-ink? probably not exist, yes?
how about installing linux on an e-ink device and using bluetooth keyboard? possible?

>$750
>can only display PDFs
Dear sweet jesus fuck, I would love a big e-ink screen like that, but the price is absolutely ridiculous considering how utterly limited it is in terms of features. How the shit is it supposed to justify its cost?

are there any good e-reader apps for windows? I'm stuck using my laptop until I get my own e-reader?

It's cracked now, you can install apps and get the Play Store installed. Wish I would've known before I bought my Boox Max 2.

That's better I guess, though being cracked hardly justifies the batshit insane price of the thing. You can probably get fully-featured PC tablets at that price with vastly superior functionality, I can't see the e-ink screen being worth such a sum.

unironically Microsoft Edge

I use Ubooquity in a browser, that keeps my progress synced no matter what device I read from.

Just got this

K-ON is love

Not a homo, but thanks.

Yeah I fucking bet you'd like something 1-2" bigger.

I love Mugi

Never even heard of that one
Is it another Android device?

This thread should be merged into /csg/

no, its not. by a hungarian company, it just werks

kobo has super interesting ebooks on their Japanese store

Attached: DSC_4069m.jpg (885x800, 111K)

Why this isn't coming from china?
If you mean its made there then just about all threads belong there.

Fucking patent hoarding.

>want to try e-readers again after 7 years break
>this time want to try screen bigger than 6"
>they are all pretty expensive
Will we ever see e-readers with big screens that are actually affordable?

why the fuck would you read comic books in black and white?

They're mostly in black and white to begin with, aside a few color pages at the beginning.
But I agree for other reasons (contrast & zoom speed) that e-ink readers aren't the best for manga.

Attached: DSC_4055.jpg (1280x554, 230K)

I recently bought a Kobo Forma and I think that the screen might be high res enough to comfortably read most manga, textbooks and D&D manuals. Now if we just had colour and faster screen refresh I could ditch paper books forever.
