Vi(m) user, finish post, then accidentally

>hit ESC

I guess it's my own fault for not remapping, but on my notebook it's not even uncomfy to reach.
Why must these things happen to me.

>using this archaic trash

Well at least you fit in on Jow Forums. That must be worth something.

I end closing the tab too often and other shit cuz of vim muscle memory

It's your own fault for not using a modern text editor. What have you gained by using Vi for literally anything?

this is why vim users download programs/plugins that give them vim controls on everything

Ok
>trash
Old vi versions do what is advertised and they do it well, you're talking out of your ass. I wasn't implying vim should be the go-to source code editor or that it replaces and IDE.

>what I gained
'Bout every 2nd editor/IDE can be configured to use vi keybindings or has plugings (see VS), I feel more at home because I like modal editing.
Easy.

kek. I love the dumb wojack meme, I got a load of them off Reddit.

>used gvim for years
>still don't know the commands for copying and pasting, just use the command panel instead

You formulated that like it's a bad thing.

You were missing out big time, famalam!
I don't understand how people can't understand the joy of using f, F, t, T, / and ?.
It's just so comfortable.

Oh, copy & paste.
Well, d(d) and x "copy" too btw.

Else just y and p.

i meant it as someone who is currently struggling through that same process

Ah, I see.

Glad, I'm not the only one, makes me feel a little less retarded.

Half the people I'm in contact with online think that :wq is my sig.

>not using :x

he means copying to the clipboard not the vim buffers u mong

Oh, sry :(

Well, urxvt is nice and allows ctrl-alt-v when in insert.

(And ctrl-alt-c to of course)

that won't work in vim

It will with urxvt.

you can map control + c/v to copy and paste, you know

>not reading through whole post
As I said, it's a notebook the distance is not that big, ususally I would remap but I really see no need here.

>posts about escape key muscle memory fucking up in other applications
>I really see no need here
