It's kinda in the air right now between xfce and i3. The biggest deterrent against going the i3 route is the time it takes to setup and fuck with to get to a comfy level.

recent Windows 1709 install with updates disabled
some small bugs with the search menu sometimes not opening files when clicking and it didn't let me pin searched items to the start at first but otherwise works great and is very comfy
