I got tired of XFCE and i want to switch to a new DE/WM.
I tried installing Gnome Shell and even using Gnome Classic it feels like using Windows 8.1: it seems to be a system made for tablets rather than desktop computers.
I'm only asking for a simple wm that has a xfce-like menu, is able to put windows into split screen (move it to right edge - have the window resize to half screen / move to bottom left, have it resize to 1/4) and won't break like xfce does.
I got tired of the fact that I always need to patch shit to not make it collapse. Today video thumbnails stopped working and startup scripts didn't execute. Turns out the session corrupted for some reason and everything broke.
>I tried installing Gnome Shell and even using Gnome Classic it feels like using Windows 8.1: it seems to be a system made for tablets rather than desktop computers. You're using it wrong. I blame the devs for not providing better hints for it's usage. Gnome has a great workflow once you figure out how to use it.

That looks quite nice. Isn't kde a bit heavy though?
Robert Ramirez
I think it's lighter than gnome now Just try it and play around with the customization, you will probably find that it works well

can I play video games on that?
Jace Perry

I just switched to XFCE after trying KDE, Gnome, Lumina, Mate and LXqt. I like XFCE but I might have to try ricing FVWM.

You can make gnome function like the classic windows experience with a panel on the bottom and a start menu. Give it a try its a nice DE. If you dont like it give KDE a got its also nice appearantly.
John Green
Whatever you do, stay away from the fucking foot DE.
