This will be really stupid, but is it possible for someone to somehow remote control my browser (Chrome) without my knowledge of it? Two really weird things happened today:
1. When I'd enter my browser settings and went to the Cookies page, if I tried to click anywhere or type in the search bar my browser would immediately close. I opened my browser and repeated this like 7 times, without fail, it'd close when I go to the Cookie menu. My browser did not close in any other activities.
2. Tried to bid on something on eBay, and whenever I'd write something into the bid box it'd disappear a second or so later.
I hope I'm just overly paranoid and someone here can explain why these things happened (it ceased happening now).

I'm testing out having my own .sty file so I can just load in most of the packages, commands, styles, etc, I usually use in my TeX files.
It can happen, disconnect from the internet and use a different machine, if you can one that isn't connected to the same network and look deeper into the issue, botnets are a scary thing. Might not be your case but your post said that you input your credit card information so it's better to go full paranoic on this.

will heroin make me a better programmer? I figure it would help me make connections I wouldnt see otherwise and give me a better perspective. Plus being comfy all the time music make it easier to work for long periods

Anyone getting the bad gateway when navigating Jow Forums? I keep getting it a LOT
Luis Torres
My PC's sound goes off at random intervals, sometimes once per minute and sometimes every 5 or so, usually it's for 1 to 3 seconds, sometimes less and rarely more, never more than 4 or 5 seconds. Lately it seems slightly more often than before and for longer (still I don't think it has ever gone for over 5 seconds).
Is my computer gonna explode? I already took it appart and cleaned everything that could be cleaned. Please help how do I fix this?
Jace Edwards
All the best programmers use heroin. When Linus Sebastian wrote the original Linux kernel he was on a six month heroin binge.
Regarding installing Win 7 on a ryzen PC, the pastebin talks if your computer lacks a USB2.0 port, because you can't get the USB3.0 drivers with ryzen or whatever. Does that mean if you have 2.0 ports on your mobo you can install Win7 on a ryzen setup without a PS2 keyboard?
I've got a Raspberry Pi set up as a low-use Plex server, and ultimately I'd like to download media from some Windows 8 and 10 PC's and easily move them to the Plex server directly over the network. The Pi has a 2TB external hard drive plugged into it, which is mounted and Plex reads from it.
Tried using Samba to make the external's storage a share, however it keeps giving weird results when moving data to it (randomly thinks the file is corrupt, Plex suddenly can't detect that entire folder afterwards, etc.)
Was given an iPad at work to use on trips. What should I use on it to browse things anonimously and not leave a bunch of information on it if I had to turn it back in. It’s a 2017 model, pic noot related
Is it safe to surf blue boards of Jow Forums at work?
Connor Peterson
In theory yes, but sometimes NSFW content slips through. Some boards are worse than others though, like /v/ and /a/.

Gonna repost my problem:
I want to fix my "broken" SD card: When I plug it into my phone (S8) or tablet (Samsung Tab A) it disconnects every second, so I can't access it. When plugged into my PC (W10) it's read-only, so I can't format it, I tried changing this attribute via CMD, while it displayed "successful", it was still read-only.

How do I stop ublock origin messing up Jow Forums?
Why do my headphones, external speakers and internal laptop speakers all sound unbearably scratchy and distorted on Ubuntu whenever I play any kind of audio? They worked beautifully on Windows.

I got a laptop (Win 8.1) back from a guy who works at geek squad today (dad forced me to give it to him, wasn't my idea), it came with a disk in it that says "MRI_5_10_6" in it. I can not actually see any open programs on my desktop other than Windows explore. No icons for the matter either. I can tell they're open as they appear in the taskbar and I can blindly interact with them but no actual windows or dialogs. So am I supposed to run that disk? And how do I get it to see what I am doing first?
Gavin Hill
How do I get 4chanX working for firefox. I'd love to switch from chrome but that's the last holdout for me
You could disable align to grid which gets you a little closer manually.
Carson Hughes
seems like you have the icons aligned to a grid and the icon size is large enough that another row doesn't fit along the bottom either adjust the size or turn off the align-to-grid option or stop having a weird-ass nonstandard monitor resolution
Carson Myers
I have a single column with rows of names in a spreadsheet. I want to find out the occurrence of each name in the column for all entries in the column and print them out else where on the sheet. I tried pivot tables but it didnt return any data on the occurrences of them, just the names. Is there another way to display the data? Using libreoffice

What's the best way to repair registry on a Win10 machine without having to purge the whole PC and reinstall the OS?
I'll repost what I posted on /wsr/ here: Does anyone know where you can get pre-made Dlib image detectors that work really well? It can be a detector for almost anything besides a human face. I'm having a lot of trouble making Dlib detectors that work well enough for my application. I've tried making detectors for a short string of text, a tiger's face, and a cougar's face, and none of them work anywhere near as well as the default Dlib human face detector. Does anyone have any advice for me?
>is it possible Sure. Ask yourself, though, what would this hypothetical person's goal be? Why would they do something like closing your browser window over and over again? I'm sure you can think of more destructive things someone could do, if they had remote access to your computer and just wanted to bully you. Most likely it's just Chrome bugging out.

I know that, from time to time your pc start getting slow and the solution is formatting it. But do i need to do that with a hdd that i will use only to store games,videos,pictures,etc...?
If my motherboard doesnt have more sys fan connectors but has a shit ton of things like RGB connectors and the entire line at the bottom, can I just connect a 4 pin fan anywhere/somewhere in there?

buddy if I call you a retarded faggot someone could make a case that, because you saw me do it and didn't report the post or issue some condemnation of my "racist homophobia" while you were at work, you endorse discrimination based on sexual preferences, which is, like totally, the same thing as actually doing the discrimination, and when when you demonstrate homophobic discrimination at your place of business, that's a crime in most states.
Silence is violence. Remember to vote for democrats and their china-like social credit system they're planning so as to snuff out hatred.

Something on my PC is capping my bandwidth at 10mb/s. It just started today and I can't figure out what is causing i, everything else is getting full speeds. I've done a full system scan and rebooted with no change, is there something in Windows 10 that would be doing this?

How hard would it be to get a few grand from twitch streaming then ditching?
Charles Adams
You have to set and consistent schedule, get a decent stream overlay, not have a shit personality, gain hundreds of followers, and be good at a popular game or very entertaining, and do this for months. Otherwise, you're going to stay small-time.
Charles Ramirez
It seems you are on heroin right now as I can tell

Is it me or does Windows 10 have a real problem with going into sleep mode? Like not detecting the monitor anymore or BSOD.

I think you mean defrag instead of format , right ?

I'm about to get an SSD to use as a boot drive. Do I have to back up everything on my current HDD and format it before using it as a storage drive? I have ~1.5tb of media on here that I'd rather not have to move.

Here's a question . Is Linux going down hill since the COC ? The recent ext4 file corruption got me worried.
Jonathan Morris
>Is Linux going down hill since the COC ? Running Debian Stable. I'll let you know in a year or so

Distro for my boomers shitty laptop. My father uses a shitty Lenovo laptop with 2 gigs of ram, a dual core Intel processor and a meme 1366x768 screen resolution and all that monstrosity runs on windows 10. So I've thought about installing Linux on his machine (he uses his computer for web browsing, email and solitaire like any boomer does). So I've been wondering which distro would suit him best. It should be easy to use with little tweaks, light on system resources and stable (I don't want to be a 24/7 tech support for my father after an update makes his system shit itself)
Does Firefox run as well as Chrome-based browsers on your PCs?
I'm really trying to like this browser, but I can't shake the feeling it's less responsive and has some quirky behavior with some page elements.
Angel Martin
The last time I used Firefox I realized that the longer I stayed on a page the slower my experience was. I had ublock origin but Firefox still would hiccup and slow down.
Blake Diaz
Do any of you like those blue-light-filtering glasses? If so what brands do you like?
Thomas Thompson
Anyone know of a good way to get the task bar on both monitors for Windows 7? For some gay reason it does not support it natively. I just got a 2nd one and it's pretty annoying to have to constantly move between the two.
Try >column A contains names >column B contains unique names from column A >column C uses the name one column over (in column B) and counts it's occurrences in column A
Henry Taylor
My desktop's documentation says that it supports 1333MHz DDR3 RAM. If I were to install 1600MHz DDR3 RAM in it, would the system fail to boot or would the RAM just run at 1333MHz?
>blue-light-filtering glasses? I just run programs that tint my screens red (redshift, flux, twilight, etc..)
Evan Gomez
This does not make any sense. A just has names in it, there should be a way to count ALL NAMES export it to a column then count the occurrences and count them and export it to the next column
Jace Watson
What are the cookies from torrents I'm getting and what are their purpose? I'm sure the .mpaa one was some troll but are they safe to keep or delete them? qbittorrent on linux
Josiah Cook
Install the TDE version of Q4OS. It's Linux for boomers. The ISO fits on a CD and the system itself runs on even the shittiest little Pentium calculator. For system updates it shows a little red tray icon that opens a simple application where you click next and finish and reboot if it ever asks you to. It can run Google Chrome and a bunch of different email clients. As for solitaire I'm sure there's a program for Linux. Just Google it.
Thanks for the recommendation. On the other record. Why are boomers so obsessed over solitaire? My father can play 5 games of it (if not more) per day he already has over 3k games played (that were recorded since the last windows install). But after all those years I think it's around 15/20k games.
That's not manual. I'm using functions to generate columns B and C.

I want to tinker with server hardware. Is the following a decent deal?
HPE dl380p gen8 >2x xeon e5-2630 >16GB RAM >4 x 600GB SAS drives and 4 x 300GB sas drives >no current OS For 500 CAD locally. y/n?

>select all of column A >in menu choose Data>More Filters>Standard Filter... >in pop up window switch Field Name from Column A to - none - >select >Options >check No Duplications >check Copy results to: >enter B1 >hit OK >all the unique values are now in column B
>select cell C1 >enter the formula >=COUNTIF(A:A,"="&B1) >C1 now has the count for B1 >drag the cell so the formula is copied to all the cells you need it to be copied to >done

I use to be able to drag and drop Youtube videos into Potplayer and have them play. Now I get an error message. Then I thought it must be the player it's self. I tried rolling back and updating and beta builds with no change. Tried other players like MPV and it crashes that. Has Youtube changed something or is there something fucky going on with my PC?
You can waste 500 leafbucks on a used server if you want but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're ready to deal with the noise and power draw. If it's local go and have them power the thing on and you'll see what I mean. If you don't live alone the other people in the house are gonna be pissed.

Is there a space in the password? Front or back?
Camden Parker
No, you should be able to browse whatever is on there anyway as long as it's formatted in a format that your SSD OS can read. Just be sure to change the boot order in the BIOS since it'll still have the boot partition on it (which you can clear out, but don't try to merge it with the partition where all your files are).
William White
Turn the security up and it is pretty safe. Your ISP will know that you are using tor but they cannot see any of the data. Stay away from vans offering free candy

I posted a question about my major a while ago, but decided to make a thread on Jow Forums about with more details and post it here:
Oliver Nguyen
You kinda have to use it with a VPN. And you really should have downloaded it with a VPN. You'll still be fine if you don't do anything illegal, but that'll change if Andrew Yang wins in 2020 and gets to implement his real country's social credit system here.
Camden King
Nope. But I think either the download was bad or 7zip was just glitching because now it opened just fine after a redownload.
