I saw people recommending this and I don't get it. go disable all update functionality crash reporter everything then run a sniffer and start vscode. it will still connect to random US based Microsoft servers without me doing anything.

In case of electron editors I will stay with Atom. Even though ms bought gh atom respects all settings and doesn't randomly connect anywhere.

also atom by now has the exact same functionality as vsvode (actually way more) since atom implements the language server interface as well.you can use vscode debuggers and language servers without any modification in atom practically giving you the same intelligent ide functions

I use honeyview for manga and comics, and ifran for everything else actually
I've had issues with it derping on simple things like gifs and the zoom function derping out hardcore. Also, ifran and honeyview have better fit/snapping and navigation hotkeys by default imo. I don't have to rebind shit with AHK.

Wrong I am studying partly IT law in EU and this is what most people think (wrongly). No product is ever defaulting to sending telemetry. You give them explicit consent to do so by running that application and/or compiling it. you could sue them in the eu for uninformed telemetry through eg the extension gallery but since that data is transmitted and no European entity can force an outside entity to hand out keys you can't Prove it albeit it being public knowledge. how often have eu companies used the exact same reasoning against us law by now should make all of your assumptions more than redundant. if you are sure your correct then why not suing them right now and get couple thousand euros in compassion you faggot.

also again atom has all functionality of vscode by now (even more it can even use directly vscode debuggers and the language servers) so wy tf you still use vscode. Atom respects telemtry and yes I know both belong to ms now but ms doesn't care at all about atom because shills and regards like in this thread.

macOS X is based off the BSD kernel. Just because BSD and Linux are both based off of UNIX does not make macOS and GNU/Linux similar. macOS is locked down and highly against advanced customization to retain popularity amongst tech illiterate hipsters and tech illiterate children. GNU/Linux is customizable to the bone (which also makes it really easy for idiots to break). Also, macOS is proprietary botnet, GNU/Linux isn't. GNU/Linux is free as in freedumb.
One more thing. The fact that you said "sleeker" makes very little sense in most contexts. Assuming you mean aesthetic wise, the Linux kernel is literally just CLI. There is no default look to GNU/Linux.

a lot of software available for gnu/linux is (generally) compilable across all unix based systems (with some tweaking needed of course), and considering that macOS is bsd, a very highly supported kernel by the FOSS community, i would say you can do some shit your friend can do.
