Hey, guys. If you're into activism against silicon valley, here's some intel:
1) Bird/Lime scooters are roughly estimated ~$320/unit for the company; 2) They have a payback period of one month, with three months of profitability; 3) Over its lifetime, that's $920 in costs and $1920 in revenue; 4) This is equivalent to $16/day revenue, with $11 in profit; 5) They expect at a conservative amount at least 1.5x in returns from whatever is invested.
Point of Action: Disabling a scooter (preferably permanantly) within the first month of its life prevents over $1000 of profit. Any longer and it will severely limit profits and revenue. This is a good tactic against the evil Silicon Valley menace.
We have an opportunity to get back at Silicon Valley for all the bullshit we have to deal with from them.
Michael Scott
don't vandalize, you hoodrat get in with your community and ban them from your fucking city, tons have already
Joseph Reed
That doesn't hurt the company, user. This is direct action against Silicon Valley, not community activism.
Andrew Kelly
I don't live in Homofornia, don't care.
Matthew Baker
>This is direct action against Silicon Valley, not community activism. no it fucking isn't fight like a god damn white person, get them where it matters you're one subhuman vandal, you can't compete with how many scooters are out there
get them out COMPLETELY and you'll actually hurt them
Adrian Allen
This sounds like a real SV resident tier plan, you should probly neck yourself.
William Ramirez
just stalk and kill individuals who associate with the company lol
Easton Nelson
real question about these scooters
can't you just like steal them n shieeeut like whos gonna care riiiight its a big company they have money
They have gps in them, anyone know how to disable it?
Wyatt Sanchez
kys nigger
Christian Ramirez
...They're just scooters. How is this different from people parking bikes around?
Lucas Lewis
Yes, it's in the top on the handlebars. Secured by four Phillips heads screws.
It has a battery connected to it, so it stays on even if the motor battery is dead. It runs on a particle electron board with a SIM card. You can disconnect the antennas, or remove the battery.
Jayden Russell
Why though?
Justin Diaz
These are such a cool idea though, why would you want to ban them?
Wyatt Gutierrez
Or break them for that matter. Seems like a lovely idea.
That's not the point. The point is not to get rid of the scooters. There is no problem with alternate transportation.
The problem lies with the company. This is the beginning of direct action against Silicon Valley companies. No longer should they be able to get away with storing all of our data without recourse.
This is meant as a call to arms to start thinking and devising methods of making these companies feel the pain. As long as these VCs keep investing money into companies whose sole purpose is to further surveillance capitalism, we must begin fighting back -- on all fronts.
Buy your own, they're only $400. Better yet, build one yourself.
These scooters are all over the place now, not just in California. These companies are valued at over a billion dollars for doing nothing other than filling the streets with poorly maintained scooters.
Easton Harris
But then you should go against the actual big companies instead of the company that makes scooters.
vandalism doesn't cause monetary damage to insured business property you're only doing them a favor by letting them claim insurance and get a new one for free
grow up and get a job and maybe you won't be as clueless about the operation of the world your politically driven road to vandalism is embarrassing
Elijah Flores
>buy your own its like you don't understand whats even going on
Jackson Murphy
why don't we just steal the valuable parts? the battery must be worth something.
Logan Taylor
The easiest/quickest way to disable the scooter is to cut the power wire between the motor and the throttle.
There are different variants of these scooters with the wires in different places. On the easiest variant, they're exposed on the base.
The red cable is the brake-line -- don't cut it or else you might seriously hurt someone. This is about hurting Bird, not innocent people.
Dumbass, the scooter company owns the scooters.
It causes their insurance rates to skyrocket once they realize the scooters aren't returning as much as they thought. Insurance must be purchased locally. As people get hurt and class actions suits start being made, you'll see them stop expanding to so many cities.
Batteries are worth a good amount, last I saw around $50-75. Definitely steal one and sell it if you can.
Landon Cooper
guillotines
Jackson Wood
Then get a $40 used bike, and learn to walk places.
Josiah Martinez
can i see a photo of your arm?
Charles Lopez
You haven't fucking explained how disabling scooters hurts the tech part of silicon valley, like Google or Facebook. You're just retarded.
did someone on a scooter call you a fag or something?
Andrew King
user, we are at fault for the state of our privacy. Innocent data must be leaked (it already has) for people to begin to change their ways. This isn't meant to be friendly, it's an insurrection.
Jace Hall
what does that have to do with scooters? why aren't you burning datacenters?
Alexander Watson
that sounds like a crime a white person would think of this guy isn't that
Jason Garcia
niggers and crackheads already do this, they crack em open
Are you really going to waste your time breaking shit like a nigger? You have to do this at night with your other nigger pals. I also liek these scooters, they're fun to ride unlike your mom
Grayson Cox
There must be a beginning to everything.
First the scooters, then we bomb the datacenters. Maybe we assassinate the executives later.
Owen Edwards
lol excited bout giving up your data too?
Bentley Reed
Scooters aren't even a beginning, thats just dumb. Not like you're mad about all the cameras pointing at public streets you'd be caught on.
These scooter rental businesses did nothing wrong. They are not raping the environment or engaging in unethical business practices. Not sure what you're so worked up about but these guys didn't do it.
If you have an Intel processor and a Facebook account, surely you are at least as culpable as these scooters, how about I come over and wreck your shit?
Alexander Clark
Basedboy confirmed
Jason Butler
Again, this isn't about attacking the companies. This is about attacking Silicon Valley.
Michael Harris
>No longer should they be able to get away with storing all of our data without recourse. They only store it because you gave it to them. For free.
Don't blame them for your ineptitude.
Owen Powell
Did you give Equifax your data? When did you stop using Google? Does your friend post pictures of you on FB/Instagram/Snapchat/etc?
Does anyone you know use facebook while you're around? Did you know it uses a microphone for advertising stats?
Tons of /your/ data is collected without your consent. This has gotten out of hand.
Ethan Cooper
then get together as a community and officially bar them from operating
Levi Allen
>Did you give Equifax your data? Nope
>When did you stop using Google? I have never used any google products.
>Does your friend post pictures of you on FB/Instagram/Snapchat/etc? No because I'm not normie trash.
>Does anyone you know use facebook while you're around? Nope.
You have only yourself to blame for this.
Jacob Diaz
Just buy a Xiaomi scooter. You cut out the SV middleman this way.
William Hernandez
What's that have to do with scooters?
Ryan Anderson
lmao you don't like capitalism bro? Only cure for communism is a bullet.
Jordan Fisher
It's foolish to devote your energy to destruction. Not only are you wasting your own time, you are wasting the time of the people making the scooters available. These scooters literally did nothing wrong and trashing them is the act of a subhuman chimping out.
Instead, you should devote your time to creating something of your own to share with the world. The world is not a good place by default, it won't get better if you strike at it in anger. Making the world a good place takes constant hard work from all of us lest it descend into chaos. If you want a nice world you need to do your part.
Jason Rodriguez
I would like to know more about the legalities of these private scooter programs. I know CitiBike jumped through a lot of hoops to get NYC's blessing to deploy racks around the city. These scooter companies don't seem to give a shit about the local laws. Tired of seeing this legal gray area "innovation."
Why wouldn't it be 100% legal? What laws would even cover such a thing?
Nathan Flores
Why do you dislike these scooter?
Aaron Green
>What laws would even cover such a thing? Depends on how the vehicle is classified. The lightest it could probably get away with is bike laws. Just about anything wheeled and fast is expected to obey some rules of the road. Then you have to deal with storage for these things. Many cities do have ordinances about putting vehicles on the sidewalk or blocking pedestrian walk ways.
Individual yahoos get away with it because they know how to buck the law long enough and leave before any heavy enforcement shows up. A company is going to grind up against entrenched infrastructure.
Tyler Cook
>fight like a god damn white person U mean fite like a cuck? This b da wraison ya wimmenz want da bbc
Justin Jones
Seems like it'd be more efficient to have a kiosk or service truck kind of thing anyway, assuming you could keep it automated.
Michael Wood
Exactly, if they play by the rules, they will have to spend megabux on making the city happy, building out infrastructure that respects local laws and people, and then finally trying to make money after all that. That is a lot of time/money/effort before you see a slice of profit.
Uber and Lyft were originally founded on skirting taxi laws until the politicians stopped taking their bullshit.
Austin Taylor
well most taxi laws are about as much possible bullshit as you can get, ultra-corrupt. That's probly why uber had to kill themselves in public opinion before taking any hits (overton'd by news corporations' advertisers).
Lyft's still going strong though.
Sebastian King
Well I just don't think we all should be scoot'en around
>Why wouldn't it be 100% legal? Littering is a misdemeanor in most jurisdictions.
Elijah Wood
>embrace everything on gnu.org and fsf.org >GNU/Pill everyone around you There, a lot of easier than you think. You'll realise the fancy data jails Silicon Valley prop up are a waste of your time and dignity.
Zachary Roberts
This isn't enough. We've been doing this for almost 30 years no to see no change come of it. Direct action needs to be taken.
Ian Walker
How to really kill Silicon Valley in 3 easy steps. 1. Don't use Apple products 2. Don't use Google products 3. Use Microsoft products
Ayden Gray
What change were you expecting? Some anarchist utopia that springs into existence after you vandalize enough scooters?
Jaxson Wright
A brid trip cost like $3 while Uber cost $8 minimum
