I've been using my headphones with my speaker amp, a 90s technics but it recently kicked the bucket and has a quiet and crackly left channel (might just be dusty, going to look into it later).

anyway, I plugged my SMSL sApII (fucking rolls off the tongue, that) back in and christ this thing sounds good. The level of additional detail, particularly in the low end, is crazy. not sure what i was thinking putting it away.
