ive never used one nor seen one, so I cant really say much about it.

I wish I had you in the US, but VGA/Component/SCART breakout boards are the next best thing

this was outdated technology when I was barely old enough to hold a gamepad

I bought 90 meters of high quality scart cables for next to nothing recently. I underestimated how much that weighs and how much space it takes up.

Why?

good riddance.

This was Europe only thing wasn't it? What muricans used instead?

I've lost control of my life.
Shipping was about $5 no matter what and the cables were 80 cents or so (regardless of length). So I got 5 15m and 5 3m cables.
Figured I could maybe make some custom cables, but yeah, idk..

This piece of shit disconnected itself at radnom unless you secured it somehow

Japan used a modified version

Fuck this piece of shit. Always fucking hard to plug in, especially blindly.

Wasn't even modified, was literally just a different pin-out.

The connector and cables were identical, just the wires were in a different position.

*wiggles connector*

Ahh SCART, so many memories of setting up TVs, VCRs then DVD players for my family. Nothing like that smell of tape and warm plastic. I remember my aunt kicking off because she was convinced I'd get electrocuted if I went behind the TV. Where'd the time go bros

No, they're shit.
100% shit.
It's nice that the markets they were in got RGB input on SOME devices, but 3BNC > SCART any day of the week.
Even D-Terminal > SCART.

One connector for video and audio in 1982. This thing was revolutionary and the only one hating on it are underage faggots.

Good for modding RGB output on old consoles.

Zoomer

No, just someone living in the US where SCART was never used.

>a pin falls into the connector housing
literally the worst cable i ever used.

>This piece of shit disconnected itself at radnom unless you secured it somehow

This a million times.
It had a life of it's own and often it just plopped off from the socket at random for the fun of it.
It was the most fickle connector ever created on this planet and I'm happy that the burgers never had to deal with this fucker.
Good riddance.

Good riddance

Sorry to break this to you, but you guys had shit cables/equipment

I didn't ask for these feels. I miss my cat.

I lost my cat to a car, why you do this to me? T_T

the head that connects to the port is too big and heavy and slightly moving the TV(for example) disconnects it no matter how good the cable is. It's outdated and useless

D-sub is better

SCART in MART

Getting an RGB SCART cable was a huge upgrade for my consoles and dvd player. The picture was so much sharper, + got colours in PAL60/NTSC titles.

Mine would fall apart. Had to reassemble the connector all the time, and sometimes when unplugging, the shield/sleeve would stay stuck in the TV

hon hon hon, mon aƩroglisseur est plein des anguilles

EVERY FUCKING TIME FUCK SCART

He's a big connector.

I got stared at in total disbelief by three sales guys when I told them my only requirement for a new tv was a Scart connector.
They'e getting hard to find.

I just decommissioned SCART last month. I'm not sad for ditching that motherfucker at all tbqh fa.m
