Why is this even allowed?

Why does every neighborhood have these fucking assholes that broadcast 40mhz or 20mhz on overlapping channels (i.e not 1,6,11)? They just cause worse performance for everyone, including themselves. Why didn't the 802.11 standards just eliminate the ability to select overlapping subchannels?

chad AP using half the channels

Just buy an old microwave and rig it to run with the door open, point it towards his house and turn it on. Then guaranteed none of his 2.5ghz will work

>2.4Ghz
Why do you care?

use 5Ghz and 80MHz channel width.

The chad manspread vs the virgin sit

Most of the 5ghz is dfs with shitty performance

something's cooking?

>just cause cancer brah

i'm using 5Ghz, DFS, 80Mhz channel, and getting over 400mbps throughput with 2x2 devices.

that research has been debunked.

Why?
Because all of their routers are on the default setting.
The fuck do you think?

>SSID is "GetRekt"
>why does he do this ;_;

debunk my dick nigger

Fully agree OP.

But only 7 networks? - no reason to complain.
In my area there are always at least 30 networks all overlapping each other on 2.4Ghz, totally unusable.

Routers don't default to channel 8 and channel 4

My modem won't allow me to go the empty 5GHz range. ):

Then use a standalone modem instead of a modem router combo unit. Then you can use whatever router you want. And provide any wifi signal you feel like.

What does this even mean?

Potential interference.
What are you even doing on Jow Forums?

Or just put the modem in bridge mode instead of buying a whole new modem lol.

if it's an ISP supplied modem it may not let you

what program is this?

What's the difference between channel width of 20mhz and 40 mhz?

20MHz

I meant bandwidth and channel overlapping wise.

Did you have physics in school?
Overlapping frequencies negate each other.
Higher frequencies are faster but require more power and have an extreme low range

When you put your wifi on the same channel as your neighbour, your wifi devices will take turns communicating with your neighbour's devices.
If one device is communicating, others will wait.
When you put it on another (but overlapping) channel, your neighbour's devices will just see your network as noise and won't wait when communicating. (and the other way around)

If your devices are close to your router, you don't need to worry about the noise, but you want more speed, so it's logical to put your wifi on different but overlapping channel.

>Did you have physics in school?
Yes, but they didn't explain modern networking.
>Overlapping frequencies negate each other.
You mean destructive interference?
I thought this needs the wave to have opposite signs.
>Higher frequencies are faster but require more power and have an extreme low range
That matters when comparing 5ghz and 2.4ghz.
How is it significant in in 2.4ghz channels?

>You mean destructive interference?
>I thought this needs the wave to have opposite signs.
Negating signals plays a huge role but this is not the complete truth, didn't wan't to go into detail. Router also comunicate with each other and on overlapping frequencies share turns. Similar to a token in a ring structure of networks.

>That matters when comparing 5ghz and 2.4ghz.
>How is it significant in in 2.4ghz channels?
Each channel has a different frequency. Afaik current standart is a step of 20Mhz. So the rule still applies.

>change the standard on all devices to china or some shit
>change to channel 14
>fuck the FCC

>door open
Better: remove one wall and point the magnetron to his house

What if you modify the microwave magnetron to broadcast your own wifi with 1 KW power to drown out all the virgins using whatever their router allows max

He could also turn off the WiFi radio from the ISP modem/router and connect his own router as an access point. It's a bit dirtier but works.

based

Also supposedly used as radar decoys and bait for HARMs during the Serbian war.

underrated

my father's spectrum-supplied combo doesnt let me change anything - i had to call them and spend 25 minutes on hold just to get wifi disabled
still havent been able to convince my father to get his own modem instead of using the crap they supply

hey OP i do that and i dont even use the wifi connection
what are you gonna do about it little bitch?

Do you intend to have children?

>reproducing
>Jow Forums

That's standard operating procedure to not be spied on

> nuke your sperms
> can fuck without protection
Sounds like a win to me
How can I set up a 1 KW wifi?

You'll still Super Thot Diseases.

Myspectrumwifi biggest dick

Tried it, channel 14 is 802.11b only. Further, an ASD surveillance kangaroo appeared on my street within a few days.

But then your ISP modem still does all the routing.

Because OP couldn't find a network that does this, so he made his own so he could make this thread to bitch about it.

>Further, an ASD surveillance kangaroo appeared on my street within a few days.
Throw a boomerang at it. Do you even aussie m8?

Do you even 21st century cunt?
I ran over the fucking thing with my Pajero.

>2.4ghz
5Ghz 160mhz channels are were it's at
>80mhz
cute user :3

WiFi Analyzer for Android.

>not using the channel 13

My access point cost me $70. How much is the cheapest AP that supports 160mhz channel widths?

Not in bridged mode

You have to go back
