Try self-hosting. It's not particularly free but if you grab a super cheap VPS and a domain name you can host your own email server. Get your own dumb domain!
Gmail will hate emails that come from your server though, unless you spend weeks getting the config just right.
It's not particularly easy, but there are guides to set it up.

Since you will be the only one who uses it, it won't get raided because of someone else.

I've ran my own for a year so I know what it's actually like. Having a domain is great, I don't think you should be on Jow Forums without one.
The only problem I've had is sending to gmail accounts. It always goes into junk. Everything else works fine - Although there is one instance where my .moe TLD wasn't recognised as a legit email address, but that's not my fault at all.
I've even got SMTPS working and I send TLS encrypted emails to supported servers. My letsencrypt cert is comfy, too.

You must setup dkim correctly in order to send to gmail.

Basically you need:
>DMARC
>DKIM
>SPF
>Properly configured mail server
>Run webmail for a while to get "trusted"
>Clean IP
>Clean Host
>Abuse and Failure accounts (i guess you don't need postmaster anymore)
>Never get hacc'd
>Never send spam
